Abstract A new genus of ant-eating spider, Murphydrelagen. n. is described from central and east Africa. Three new species, Murphydrela johannisgen. n. et sp. n. (type species, ♂♀), M. francescaegen. n. et sp. n. (♂♀), and M. michaelisgen. n. et sp. n. (♂) are described and illustrated. Two species originally described in the genus CydrelaThorell, 1873 are transferred to Murphydrela: M. kreagra (Nzigidahera & Jocqué, 2010) comb. n. and M. neptuna (Nzigidahera & Jocqué, 2010) comb. n. The genus is unique within the Zodariidae in having the retrolateral tibial apophysis substituted by 3 or 4 stout spines arranged in a single row. A key to the species of Murphydrela is provided and their distribution is mapped and discussed.

Abstract Spiders collected as part of a rapid biodiversity survey in an isolated forest patch in the northern part of Madagascar contained a new species of Katableps. The male of Katableps lilyarisonin. sp. is characterized by the pale fusiform metatarsus and tarsus of the first leg pair and details of the palp, the female by the widely separated spermathecae and broad copulatory ducts. It is most likely that other forest patches may contain more species of this remarkable taxon of forest-dwelling lycosids.

Abstract A species of the Afrotropical spider genus Afroneutria is newly described. Afroneutria tanga sp. nov is endemic to Tanzania, southeast Africa, and can be distinguished from the remaining species of the genus by the retrolateral excavation of the embolus. An identification key for all Afroneutria species is presented.

Abstract A new genus, Suffrica, is described from Tanzania and Kenya. It contains three new species occurring in the Eastern Arc Mountains and the adjacent Mkomazi Game Reserve: S. exotica, S. chawia and S. gus. They are characterized by a remarkable combination of features which has not been documented in spiders so far: a pair of femoral organs on each leg, a gland on the dorsal side of the abdomen in both sexes and a dorsal abdominal groove in males. A dual femoral organ appears to occur in species of the genus Suffasia Jocqué, 1991 and Asceua Thorell, 1887. The discovery of a new African genus close to Suffasia is remarkable since the latter genus is known only from Asia.
