Abstract Synchronized dynamics of quantum dot (QD) ensembles are essential for generating ultrafast and giant optical responses beyond those of individual QDs. Increasing the strength of the direct electronic coupling between QDs is a key strategy for the realization of cooperative quantum phenomena. Here, we observe a quantum cooperative effect on nonlinear photocurrents caused by the coherent electronic coupling in semiconductor QD solids. We measure quantum interference signals cooperatively generated in QD solids. We control the inter-QD distance with atomic precision using bidentate ligands that strongly link the QDs. The harmonic quantum interference signals are strongly enhanced when shortening the molecular length of the ligand. Furthermore, we clarify that the coherence length of multiexcitons extends to neighbouring QDs. This finding is direct evidence that multiexciton coherent tunnelling assists the ultrafast exciton delocalization. Cooperative enhancement in QD solids may find application in advanced quantum optoelectronics.

Abstract High-order harmonic generation (HHG) in gases is frequently used nowadays to produce attosecond pulses and coherent radiation in the visible-to-soft X-ray spectral range. HHG in solids is a natural extension of the idea of HHG in gases, and its first observation about ten years ago opened the door to investigations on attosecond electron dynamics in solids and the development of solid-state attosecond light sources. The common process in both types of HHG is nonlinear photocarrier generation, and thus, transitions between different bands (interband transitions) are always important for HHG. As well, in the case of solids, the transitions within a band (intraband transitions) also need to be considered, because efficient carrier acceleration is possible due to them. This Perspective focuses on experimental findings that show how intraband transitions can be controlled because such an understanding will be essential in the development of unique optoelectronics that can operate at petahertz frequencies.

Abstract Metal halide perovskite semiconductors fabricated with simple low-temperature solution processes are a unique class of materials anticipated for use in photonic devices such as solar cells, light-emitting diodes, and light modulators. The metal halide perovskites in the form of nanocrystals are particularly attracting attention as novel functional materials because of their exceptionally high luminescence efficiencies and wide range of possible luminescence wavelengths. By combining different optical characterization techniques, that is, single-dot spectroscopy, photon correlation spectroscopy, femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, and time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy, we study the dynamics of excitons, trions, and biexcitons in perovskite nanocrystals. Here, we provide a concise review of recent developments in this research field with a focus on trions in lead halide perovskite nanocrystals. A deep understanding of trion dynamics is especially important because they determine the luminescence properties of nanocrystals and are related to the ionization processes of nanocrystals.

Abstract Background: Cough is one of the symptoms of the post-COVID-19 condition. However, the factors associated with its development remain unclear. We evaluated the factors associated with chronic cough in the post-COVID-19 condition.
Methods: In this survey, 170 individuals who previously had COVID-19 and were admitted to Aichi Hospital between October 2020 and October 2021 were included. Using self-developed questionnaires and visual analog scales, 19 symptoms, including cough, were assessed. Cough-specific quality of life (QoL), reflux-related symptoms, and abnormal laryngeal sensations were also evaluated. The patients' clinical characteristics and indices, including cough-specific QoL, at admission were extracted from their medical records. Multivariate regression analyses were conducted to determine the factors associated with cough-related outcomes, such as prevalence, QoL, and severity, in the post-COVID-19 condition.
Results: The median length (range) of the survey after recovery from COVID-19 was 158 (95-467) days. Cough was prevalent (n = 41, 24 %) and often accompanied by other symptoms, including gastrointestinal symptoms. Cough-specific QoL after recovery was correlated with reflux-related symptoms and abnormal laryngeal sensations. Multivariate analyses revealed that gastrointestinal symptoms, sputum, and chronic cough before contracting COVID-19 are significant predictors of cough-related outcomes in the post-COVID-19 condition. Meanwhile, other indices including cough-specific QoL on the acute phase were not reliable predictors in the post-COVID-19 condition.
Conclusions: Cough during the post-COVID-19 condition had a negative impact on daily life activities. Gastrointestinal symptoms could play a significant role in the pathophysiology of cough in such a condition.

Abstract Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals are attracting considerable interest as next-generation optoelectronic materials. Optical responses of nanocrystals are determined by excitons and exciton complexes such as trions and biexcitons. Understanding of their dynamics is indispensable for the optimal design of optoelectronic devices and the development of new functional properties. Here, we summarize the recent advances on the exciton and biexciton photophysics in lead halide perovskite nanocrystals revealed by femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopy and single-dot spectroscopy. We discuss the impact of the biexciton dynamics on controlling and improving the optical gain.
