Abstract Almond (Prunus amygdalus Linnaeus) is very beneficial for human health in terms of high oil, calcium and other mineral substances it contains. It is consumed as fresh almonds, dried nuts, and roasted almonds (with or without salt), as well as in the food industry in the confectionery, chocolate and pastry industries, almond oil, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, and also as animal feed because its green peel contains sugar. One of the factors that negatively affect production in almond cultivation is plant protection factors. One of these factors is Tropinota hirta (Poda) (Coleoptera: Cetoniidae). In many parts of the world, it causes damage by feeding on the flowers of the trees in commercial almond orchards and is considered as an economically important pest because it causes product losses. In this study, it was carried out to determine the trapping of T. hirta, which is harmful in almond orchards in Mardin province, has an important potential and economic importance in almond production, in different types of traps. The studies were carried out in a garden with at least 100-150 trees at weekly intervals between February and May in 2018. In the experiments, funnel, basin, bucket and sticky plate-shaped pheromone and blue-colored trap types without pheromones were studied. As a result of 13 counts made in 8 different traps, 4 with pheromone and 4 without pheromone, 6,518 T. hirta were caught. In the experiments, it was determined that in terms of the number of traps of T. hirta in both pheromone and non-pheromone traps, the most in funnel-type traps, followed by washtub, water bearer and blue-colored sticky sheet traps. The first emergence of the pest into nature was the beginning of the phenological flowering of almond trees on March 01, when the daily air temperature was 8-10 °C on average. In the period between the second week of March and the second week of April, where the average daily temperature is between 13-15 °C and the average daily humidity was between 40-60% in the gardens, the population density of the pest was at maximum levels and it only fed on flowers during this period. It was determined that the population density of the pest started to decrease rapidly with the end of the flowering period and ended in the third week of May.

Abstract This study has been conducted in 2014 and 2015 in vineyards in Çermik district of Diyarbakır province where ‘Mazruni’ variety is grown commonly. Purpose of the study was to determine some control criteria of grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana Denis & Schiffermüller (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)) such as the first sight of adults in nature, adult population fluctuations, active period of adults in nature, number of seeds and infestation rate of the European grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana Denis & Schiffermüller (Lep.: Tortricidae)) in vineyards. Conclusion of the study was that in both years, the first flight of L. botrana adults was observed in 6–14 April and the pest had three peaks a year (5–11 May, 29 June–7 July, 11–17 August). Furthermore, it was observed that the first peak coincided with flowering period (May, 1. generation), the second occurred during unripe grape period (June and July 2. generation), and the third coincided with the beginning of sweetening period (August, 3. generation). Adult flights of L. botrana ended on 12–20 October and it was determined that it was active for seven months in nature (mid-April to late October) and it completed 3 generations per year. The infestation rate of L. botrana was determined as 12% and 15% respectively for the two years in the vineyards of Bintaş village‑1 while the rates were only 10% and 18% in the vineyards of Bintaş village‑2.

Title translation Associação entre os Níveis Séricos de Elabela e Oclusão Total Crônica em Pacientes com Angina Pectoris Estável.
Abstract Background: The beneficial effects of Elabela on the cardiovascular system have been shown in studies.
Objective: To compare serum Elabela levels of chronic total occlusion (CTO) patients with control patients with normal coronary arteries, and to investigate whether there is a correlation with collateral development.
Methods: The study was planned cross-sectionally and prospectively. Fifty patients (28.0% female, mean age 61.6±7.3years) with CTO in at least one coronary vessel and 50 patients (38% female, mean age 60,7±6.38 years) with normal coronary arteries were included in the study. Patients in the CTO group were divided into two groups as Rentrop 0-1, those with weak collateral development, and Rentrop 2-3 with good collateral development. In addition to the age, sex, demographic characteristics and routine laboratory tests of the patients, Elabela levels were measured.
Results: Demographic characteristics and laboratory values were similar in both groups. While the mean NT-proBNP and troponin were higher in the CTO group, the Elabela mean was lower (p <0.05 for all). In the multivariate regression analysis, NT-proBNP and Elabela levels were found to be independent predictors for CTO. Also, Elabela level was found to be statistically higher in Rentrop class 2-3 patients compared to Rentrop class 0-1 patients (p<0.05).
Conclusion: In our study, we showed that the average Elabela level was low in CTO patients compared to normal patients. In addition, we found the level of Elabela to be lower in patients with weak collateral development compared to patients with good collateral development. Abstract This study has been conducted in 2019 with the purpose of determining the awareness levels of vine-growers in crop protection practices in Savur district of Mardin province where vine-growing is highly common. With this in mind, 5 villages have been randomly selected from each district, on the basis of simple random sampling, and data have been acquired from 75 growers in 15 villages through a 20-question questionnaire and the results have been assessed as a percentage ratio. It has been observed that vine growers are highly educated, most of them have non-agricultural income and their income level is above hunger-limit. When it comes to pesticide selection and determining pesticide dosage, vine growers receive recommendations from vendors and District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. Further to this, it has also been observed that brand and active substance are important factors in pesticide selection, they do not continuously use the same pesticide against the same disease and pest, they perform disinfestation before any disease or pest appears, they apply the recommended dosage, the pesticides they use leave residue on the products, they observe the waiting time between disinfestation and harvest, they use protective garment and mask during disinfestation, they dispose the empty pesticide boxes in a careful manner, they clean the disinfestation tool but they use it without any calibration, they make a mixture of the pesticides, they prefer cultural disinfestation in addition to chemical disinfestation and they are not aware of the term bio-pesticide. With regards to overcoming crop protection issues, growers generally prefer chemical weeding but careless pesticide practices bring along several adversities in terms of human and nature health.

Abstract Apricot is an important good produced in Turkey in terms of its quantities of production and economic value. As it needs intensive labour in both cultivation and marketing, apricot production crates a large amount of employment opportunities. Unfortunately, apricot producers have faced a new serious pest damage in recent years. This pest causes significant apricot yield losses by feeding over apricot flowers. Therefore, identification of the pest is important to take immediate measures. This study was conducted at apricot orchards in the province of Malatya in 2015–2016. Field studies and surveys were carried out weekly from the beginning of February to the second week of April. During the surveys, adults and larvae were collected and prepared for molecular analyses and morphological identification. Contarinia pruniflorum Coutin & Rambier (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) was identified by molecular characterisation and morphological analyses by a specialist. This study is the first in terms of molecular characterisation of C. pruniflorum by using COI gene sequence. Identification of this pest provides an idea about which control method should be used and when such measures should be taken. In this study, we reconstructed the molecular phylogeny and analysed the genetic difference of C. pruniflorum by using mitochondrial COI sequences.

Abstract Given the prevalence of transfer activity, education stakeholders must understand how transfer may be associated with student outcomes. Such knowledge is critical, as the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn have impacted college enrollment and student transfer behavior. Relying on a sample of 6510 undergraduate students from BPS:12/17 data, we conducted analyses using multiple regression to examine the relationship between student transfer direction and two student outcomes: time to degree and cumulative loan debt. Further, we analyzed whether these relationships varied by income status, using adjusted gross income (AGI) as a proxy. We found that transferring from one postsecondary institution to another may extend time to degree by one academic semester and result in increased student loan debt, with these findings varying by income level.
