Abstract The results of long-term investigations on Cydonia obionga Mill. introduction in the North of Ukraine have been generalized. It is shown that the selected perspective forms have been well adopted; their reproductive ability depends on the level of their winter hardiness and is now at the local species reproduction level; in it is even higher in certain years. The main potential biological peculiarities have been studied; their mobilization promotes successful cultivation of Cydonia obionga Mill.

Abstract New data on the distribution of Eurytoma campanulae Zer., based on material from various parts of Ukraine and that from Finland received from Dr. Veli Vikberg, are reported. The characteristic morphological features of Eu. campanulae and the other members of the campanulae species-group are discussed. Specific traits of this species-group are outlined; this group is notable within Eurytoma due to the characteristic sculpture of the thorax and the features of the metasomal tergites. A key to the species of the campanulae species-group is given. The entire material mentioned in the paper is deposited in the collection of I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).

Abstract In this work, we use the coherent WaveBurst (cWB) pipeline enhanced with machine learning (ML) to search for binary black hole (BBH) mergers in the Advanced LIGO-Virgo strain data from the third observing run (O3). We detect, with equivalent or higher significance, all gravitational-wave (GW) events previously reported by the standard cWB search for BBH mergers in the third GW Transient Catalog (GWTC-3). The ML-enhanced cWB search identifies five additional GW candidate events from the catalog that were previously missed by the standard cWB search. Moreover, we identify three marginal candidate events not listed in GWTC-3. For simulated events distributed uniformly in a fiducial volume, we improve the detection efficiency with respect to the standard cWB search by approximately $20\%$ for both stellar-mass and intermediate mass black hole binary mergers, detected with a false-alarm rate less than $1\,\mathrm{yr}^{-1}$. We show the robustness of the ML-enhanced search for detection of generic BBH signals by reporting increased sensitivity to the spin-precessing and eccentric BBH events as compared to the standard cWB search. Furthermore, we compare the improvement of the ML-enhanced cWB search for different detector networks.

Abstract The origins of the stellar-mass black hole mergers discovered by LIGO/Virgo are still unknown. Here we show that if migration traps develop in the accretion disks of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and promote the mergers of their captive black holes, the majority of black holes within disks will undergo hierarchical mergers-with one of the black holes being the remnant of a previous merger. 40% of AGN-assisted mergers detected by LIGO/Virgo will include a black hole with mass ≳50M_{⊙}, the mass limit from stellar core collapse. Hierarchical mergers at traps in AGNs will exhibit black hole spins (anti)aligned with the binary's orbital axis, a distinct property from other hierarchical channels. Our results suggest, although not definitively (with odds ratio of ∼1), that LIGO's heaviest merger so far, GW170729, could have originated from this channel.

Title translation Bone marrow hematopoiesis in those who worked in the cleanup of the aftermath of the accident at the Chernobyl Atomic Electric Power Station with a history of acute radiation sickness (based on myelogram data).
Abstract On the basis of myelograms an evaluation was done of medullary hemopoiesis in 15 subjects who had been taken ill with acute radiation sickness (ARS) as a result of Chernobyl accident in 1986. 6-12 years following the exposure to ionizing radiation the bone marrow of ARS convalescents still shows a tendency toward hypocellularity (the number of myelokaryocytes in the examinus ranged from 40 to 80 x 10(9)/l), high index of neutrophil maturation (0.99) was recordable, which fact was related to depletion of granulocyte reserve and increase among the elements of granulopoiesis of share of proliferating cells, together with a rise in the number of lymphoid elements (19%).

Abstract Results of many years researches on rare fruit plants introduction in the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine – quince oblong (Cydonia oblonga Mill.), cornel cherry (Cornus mas L.) and japanese flowering quince (Chaenomeles japonica Lindl.) are illuminated. There are facts on perspective cultivars and forms fruits biochemical composition, which distinguish by pectin substances high content (quince oblong and japanese flowering quince), vitamin С (cornel cherry and japanese flowering quince), flavonolics, katechines (quince oblong and cornel cherry). Medicine significance of all plants organs as biological active substances source, very valuable for child and dietic nourishment is revealed.
