Abstract It is a challenge to manage complex systems efficiently without confronting NP-hard problems. To address the situation we suggest to use self-organization processes of prime integer relations for information processing. Self-organization processes of prime integer relations define correlation structures of a complex system and can be equivalently represented by transformations of two-dimensional geometrical patterns determining the dynamics of the system and revealing its structural complexity. Computational experiments raise the possibility of an optimality condition of complex systems presenting the structural complexity of a system as a key to its optimization. From this perspective the optimization of a system could be all about the control of the structural complexity of the system to make it consistent with the structural complexity of the problem. The experiments also indicate that the performance of a complex system may behave as a concave function of the structural complexity. Therefore, once the structural complexity could be controlled as a single entity, the optimization of a complex system would be potentially reduced to a one-dimensional concave optimization irrespective of the number of variables involved its description. This might open a way to a new type of information processing for efficient management of complex systems.

Abstract The study of the combined effects of inert elements and electrical heating on exothermal mixture of components in electrode coating entering into interaction of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis reaction type contributes to the creation of energy-efficient electrical technology of permanent connection of metals which is used in the restoration of agricultural machines and equipment. That method of building-up welding results in improving the quality and performance of reconditioned parts by forming highly rigid and wear-proof layers on the working surface. The research purpose is the creation of theoretical principles of active management of thermal processes of synthesized materials and getting energy effect in the formation of permanent connection of metals in agricultural machinery repair technologies. Reducing the power consumption of the electric arc technology may be achieved through exothermic transformation of the source components during self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in electrode dressing. Process management under the combined use of various compositions and actions of electric current decreases the cost of expensive equipment and increases the efficiency of the method. High quality, reliability and longer service life of the renovated and reconditioned parts by welding and surfacing are ensured through the creation of a strong and resistant structure on the surface. The developed research methods and principles of management of thermo-physical parameters in the original electrical technologies with integral energy impact confirmed correctness of those theoretical assumptions and usefulness of disseminating the experience in similar tasks in agriculture.

Abstract Ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at energies of RHIC and LHC are considered. For comparison with data the HYDJET++ model, which contains the treatment of both soft and hard processes, is employed. The study focuses mainly on the interplay of ideal hydrodynamics, final state interactions and jets, and its influence on the development of harmonics of the anisotropic flow. It is shown that jets are responsible for violation of the number-of-constituent-quark (NCQ) scaling at LHC energies. The interplay between elliptic and triangular flows and their contribution to higher flow harmonics and dihadron angular correlations, including ridge, is also discussed.

Abstract Process of bioethanol dehydration to ethylene over alumina-based catalyst in tubular fixed bed reactor was studied both experimentally and numerically. Kinetic studies were carried out to determine the reaction network, to estimate the parameters of the kinetic model and to find the optimal conditions that provide the maximal ethylene yield in the reaction of bioethanol dehydration. Pilot scale studies and process simulation were carried out to determine the optimal technological regimes in a single catalyst tube as an element of a multi-tubular reactor. The optimal characteristics and process parameters of industrial tubular fixed bed reactor for ethylene production from bioethanol at capacity of 60,000 TPA have been determined.

Abstract HYDJET++ model, which combines parametrized hydrodynamics with jets, is employed to study the dependence of the hexagonal flow, ν6, on the elliptic, ν2, and triangular, ν3, flows. Calculations are performed for lead-lead collisions at √s = 2.76 ATeV with centrality 10% ≤ σ/σgeo ≤ 50%. Hexagonal flow in the model emerges only due to the presence of ν2 and ν3. Position of its event plane, Ψ6, is found to be closer to Ψ3 for semi-central events, whereas in peripheral reactions it is closer to Ψ2, in line with the experimental analysis of the plane correlations. The amplitude of “induced" hexagonal flow is also comparable with that obtained in experiments. It means, in particular, that many features of the ν6 can be explained by interplay of elliptic and triangular flows.
