    Abstract Objectives: Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a vascular tumor of intermediate malignant potential, which presents as infiltrative lesions involving multiple organs. We reviewed our institutional experience with the cytologic diagnosis of this neoplasm including the performance of rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE).
    Material and methods: From our institutional database, we identified 29 cytology specimens, obtained between 2012 and 2020, from 21 patients with biopsy confirmation of EHE. ROSE and final diagnosis were compared. All cytology slides were reviewed, and selected cytologic features were recorded.
    Results: The cohort included 29 specimens comprising 17 (59%) from liver, 6 (21%) from lung, 2 (7%) from lymph node, and 4 (14%) from other sites. At ROSE, 8/27 (30%) were reported inadequate, yet on review, all cases contained scattered cells typical of EHE in the touch imprint air-dried slides including two cases reported with a final diagnosis of non-diagnostic. All cases contained epithelioid and plasmacytoid cells with ovoid nuclei, fine chromatin, delicate (or biphasic) cytoplasm, and scattered cells with delicate, elongated cytoplasmic tails. The majority 26/29 (90%) of cases had multi-nucleated and multi-lobated nuclei. Intracytoplasmic lumens/blister cells were in 17/29 (59%), and a subset had erythrocytes therein (4/29, 14%). Metachromatic fibromyxoid or fibrotic stroma fragments were commonly seen (23/29, 79%). Mitoses and necrosis were absent in all cases. Of 11 tested cases,
    Conclusion: EHE has distinctive cytologic features which are often under-recognized during ROSE.

    Abstract Context.—: The diagnosis of some infectious diseases requires their identification in tissue specimens. As institutions adopt digital pathology for primary diagnosis, the limits of microorganism detection from digital images must be delineated.
    Objective.—: To assess the reliability of microorganism detection from digitized images of histochemical and immunohistochemical stains commonly used in pathology.
    Design.—: Original glass slides from 620 surgical pathology cases evaluated for the presence of infectious microorganisms were digitized. Immunohistochemical stains included those for herpes simplex virus (n = 100), cytomegalovirus (n = 100), Helicobacter pylori (n = 100), and spirochetes (n = 80). Histochemical stains included mucicarmine for Cryptococcus spp (n = 20), Grocott methenamine silver for fungi (n = 100), Giemsa for H pylori (n = 100), and Ziehl-Neelsen for acid-fast bacilli (n = 20). The original diagnosis based on the glass slides was regarded as the reference standard. Six pathologists reviewed the digital images.
    Results.—: Digital review was generally associated with high (ie, ≥90%) specificity and positive predictive value owing to a low percentage of false positive reads, whereas a high percentage of false negatives contributed to low sensitivity and negative predictive value for many stains. Fleiss κ showed substantial interobserver agreement in the interpretation of Grocott methenamine silver and immunostains for herpes simplex virus, H pylori, and cytomegalovirus; moderate agreement for spirochete, Ziehl-Neelsen, and mucicarmine; and poor agreement for Giemsa.
    Conclusions.—: Digital immunohistochemistry generally outperforms histochemical stains for microorganism detection. Digital interpretation of Ziehl-Neelsen and mucicarmine stains is associated with low scores for interrater reliability, accuracy, sensitivity, and negative predictive value such that it should not substitute for conventional review of glass slides.

    Abstract Introduction: Lymphadenopathy is one of the most common clinical presentations of patients attending the outdoor department of a hospital. Lymph node aspiration is of great value for the diagnosis of lymphadenitis, lymphomas, and metastatic carcinoma.
    Materials and methods: In this study, we have reported the pattern of cytological diagnosis on fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of lymphadenopathy cases in Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir state of India. The mean age of all the patients in this study was 21.67 years. The most common site of lymphadenopathy was cervical region (71.79%) followed by axillary region (11.11%).
    Results: Tubercular lymphadenitis (44.02%) was the single most common cause of lymphadenopathy followed by reactive lymphadenitis (42.64%), metastatic lesions (9.40%), and malignant lymphoma (4.70%). The sensitivity of 94.49%, positive predictive value of 96.26%, and diagnostic accuracy of 91.15% was achieved in our study.
    Conclusion: This study highlights the role of FNAC as a simple, inexpensive, relatively painless, rapid, repeatable, and reliable method of investigation for lymphadenopathy, especially in outpatient departments, peripheral hospitals, and dispensaries.

    Abstract Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare, aggressive tumor of indeterminate malignant potential with myofibroblastic differentiation. Though bladder location is very uncommon, it arises from the bladder submucosal stroma as a polypoidal growth and is easily mistaken for a malignant neoplasm- clinically, radiologically and histologically. Essential criteria for the diagnosis of IMT are: spindle myoepithelial cell proliferation and lymphoplasmacytic infiltrate. Here we report the case of a 30 years old man who presented with painless gross haematuria for 2 weeks. The patient underwent open partial cystectomy and the final pathological diagnosis was IMT of bladder.
