Abstract Economic globalisation (EG) in developing countries has continued to increase over the last 40 years. EG has both beneficial and harmful impacts on all sectors, including agriculture. This paper aims to determine the impact of EG on agriculture in developing countries. This aim was met by conducting a systematic review (SR) of 64 papers from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS). EG has influenced various elements of agriculture in developing countries, including i) product, supply chain, food security, ii) trade, iii) economic, social, political element and environment and iv) technology and research and development (R&D). We propose several policies in this paper to maximise EG's positive impact while minimising its negative impact.

Abstract Air pollution is the biggest environmental problem in modern societies, causing considerable health damage and requiring substantial financial resources for health care. The goal of the study is to demonstrate the adverse economic consequences of air pollution on example of a small, open Central European country, Hungary, and to provide quantified financial arguments for macroeconomic decision-making for the development of a long-term energy strategy. On the basis of the Cobb-Douglas production function and Solow-Swann model of dynamic economic systems a simple and robust model was constructed to estimate and predict economic losses, caused by the pollution. On base of results it is obvious, that on base of macroeconomic theory and combination of various, publicly available, quality-controlled statistical resources quantifiable models can be constructed to characterise the economic consequences of air pollution, but it should be taken into consideration, that the reliability of economic models considerably depends on their initial parameters and practical validity of assumptions, based on which the underlying economic theories were built. The most important economic burden of air pollution is caused by the loss of working-age population, resulting in a decrease of 4.1-9.4 % a year in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the next fifty years. The additional burden of health care costs amounts to 0.1 % of GDP. Reducing air pollution is not only a quality of life improvement but also an investment into the economic development. Notwithstanding of statistical biases it could be proven the importance of combination health economic and econometric methods in preparation of more efficient environmental-related socio-economic decisions.

Abstract Climate change and agriculture are inextricably linked and influence one another. Many studies have been conducted on the topic, but none have focused on developing and developed countries. This study aims to investigate the relationship between climate change and agricultural competitiveness in developing and developed countries. This study examined data from 71 developing countries and 24 developed countries from 1990 to 2020 used the three-stage least squares method. This study found that agricultural competitiveness raises temperatures in developing countries while decreasing temperatures in developed countries. The temperature change has the same effect in developing and developed countries, namely reducing the agricultural competitiveness. However, agricultural competitiveness in developed countries is more sensitive to temperature changes. Other explanatory variables have varying effects on temperature and agricultural competitiveness. We propose the use of technology in agricultural business management, as well as each country's commitment to increase agricultural competitiveness while manage rise in temperatures. Every country must also make efforts to maintain currency stability, be prudent in dealing with economic openness, increase agricultural labor productivity, and improve agricultural business actors' education.

Abstract Following global trade agreements, Asian countries have been highly aggressive in implementing free trade. These conditions will impact all sectors, including agriculture. This study aims to examine the impact of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), World Trade Organization membership (WTO), and the Doha Round implementations on agricultural producer prices in Asian countries (PPI). The study was conducted using secondary data from 1991 to 2020. The data for 28 Asian countries were analyzed using the first difference General Method of Moments (GMM). The results show that implementing the GATT raises the PPI, but implementing the WTO has the reverse impact. PPI is unaffected by the Doha Round. Inflation, exchange rate, value-added, human capital, and land area equipped for irrigation are all positive contributors to PPI. Several recommendations are made to increase PPI in Asian countries: increasing commitment to agricultural fair trade, increasing agricultural value-added, improving educational opportunities for agricultural business players, and prioritizing agricultural infrastructure investment.

Abstract Incidences of forest fires have increased in recent decades largely as a result of climate change and human factors, resulting in great environmental and socioeconomic losses. Post-fire forest restoration is therefore indispensable for maintaining forest ecological integrity and for the sustainability of the affected forest landscapes. In this study, we conduct a systematic review of the available literature on forest restoration in the past two decades (2002–2022) and propose a comprehensive framework for consideration in forest restoration after the occurrence of forest fires. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) model was adopted for this study, where three academic literature databases (Scopus, CAB Direct, Web of Science), the Google Scholar search engine, and specialized websites were used for literature searches. A final list of 36 records from the initial 732 was considered for this study after the screening stage and subsequent inclusion/exclusion of articles as per the stipulated eligibility criteria. The study findings reveal a dearth of information in the field of post-fire forest restoration in an integrated, balanced, and comprehensive manner, as there was no single methodology or unified protocol that guides post-fire forest restoration. There was also a notable bias in the geographical distribution of the relevant studies in restoration as influenced by economic prosperity, political stability, and scientific and technical advancement. This study recommends a 6-criteria comprehensive framework with 29 indicators for post-fire forest restoration based on the reviewed studies. The criteria integrate environmental, economic, social, cultural and aesthetic, management, infrastructure, and education objectives in their design and implementation for better outcomes in achieving the restoration goals.

Abstract Indonesia is the only country with the FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade) license that allows them to sell plywood in the EU market. However, an assessment of the impact of FLEGT on Indonesian plywood competitiveness has not yet been made. This study aims to determine the impact of the FLEGT license on Indonesian plywood competitiveness in the EU market. The study was conducted using secondary data from January 1999 to July 2021. RCA, two-stage least squares, and Propensity Score Matching were used to analyse the data. The result shows that the FLEGT license has deceased Indonesian plywood competitiveness in the EU market. However, this condition is still better than implementing the Voluntary Partnership Agreements phase. Indonesian plywood competitiveness has also reduced due to the increase in the consumer price index and the Indonesian plywood price. Therefore, we recommend strengthening the promotion of Indonesian plywood in EU countries, educating Indonesian plywood stakeholders about the FLEGT system, and managing the inflation rate.

Abstract Consumer trust and organic food product credibility play a crucial role in understanding consumer behavior. The aim of this review is to identify extrinsic factors which influence consumers' perceived trust in organic food. The research was conducted based on the PRISMA guidelines. During our search, 429 articles were found, from which 55 studies were selected for further analysis. To assess the connection between the selected articles, a bibliometric analysis was done with VOSViewer and CitNetExplorer software. The following factors were identified as influencing the credibility of organic food: labeling, certification, place of purchase, country of origin, brand, price, communication, product category, packaging. From these, labeling, certification, and country of origin are well-researched factors in relation to credibility. The significance of the other discovered factors is supported; nonetheless, further research is needed to evaluate their effect on consumer trust.

Abstract The Russian-Ukrainian conflict has been proven to cause significant losses of life and goods on both sides. This may have potentially impacted the agricultural sector. This study examines the impact of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on the global food situation. We performed a descriptive analysis and literature review to answer this objective. Russia and Ukraine play essential roles in world food production and trade. However, the war has disrupted food production in Ukraine. Estimated Ukrainian wheat, soybean, and maize production in 2022-2023 fell precipitously. On the other hand, Russian production of these three food products shows positive growth during the same period. Furthermore, the global supply chain and food trade are hampered, causing an increase in the world's food prices. From March to May 2022, the average global price of wheat, soybeans, and maize increased dramatically compared to during and before the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, this poses a danger to global food security, particularly for low-income countries that depend heavily on food imports from both countries. Therefore, all countries must be prepared for the possibility that the Sustainable Development Goals cannot be achieved.
