Abstract This study evaluated 72 universities' performance innovation during 2011 to 2019 of panel data, using the data envelopment analysis-Malmquist method. The study used benchmark regression to analyse the relationship between digital finance and the universities' innovation performance. The aim was to improve innovation performance and promote national innovation across countries. According to the results of the empirical analysis, digital finance positively affects innovation performance. That finding was confirmed through advanced robustness test evaluation, such as limited information maximum likelihood, two-stage least squares, and interactive fixed effects. Moreover, based on information theory, the digital finance influence mechanism improves credit demand and financial efficiency. Additionally, innovation performance survived spatial overflow effects. Lastly, the paper concludes with some implications for improving digital financial coverage and constructing innovation networks among universities.

Abstract Evaluating scientific articles has always been a challenging task, made even more difficult by the constantly evolving citation networks. Despite numerous attempts at solving this problem, most existing approaches fail to consider the link relationships within the citation network, which can often result in biased evaluation results. To overcome this limitation, we present an optimization ranking algorithm that leverages the P-Rank algorithm and weighted citation networks to provide a more accurate article ranking. The proposed approach employs two hyperbolic tangent functions to calculate the corresponding age of articles and the number of citations, while also updating the link relationships of each paper node in the citation network. We validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach using three evaluation indicators and conduct experiments on three public datasets. The obtained experimental results demonstrate that the optimization article ranking method can achieve competitive performance when compared to other unweighted ranking algorithms. In addition, we note that the optimal Spearman’s rank correlation and robustness can all be achieved by using a combination of the following parameters: α=10, β=5, and γ=2.

Abstract Patients with diabetes are physiologically frail and more likely to suffer from infections and even life-threatening sepsis. This study aimed to identify and verify potential biomarkers of diabetes-related sepsis (DRS). Datasets GSE7014, GSE57065, and GSE95233 from the Gene Expression Omnibus were used to explore diabetes- and sepsis-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and functional analyses were performed to explore potential functions and pathways associated with sepsis and diabetes. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was performed to identify diabetes- and sepsis-related modules. Functional enrichment analysis was performed to determine the characteristics and pathways of key modules. Intersecting DEGs that were also present in key modules were considered as common DEGs. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network and key genes were analyzed to screen hub genes involved in DRS development. A mouse C57 BL/6J-DRS model and a neural network prediction model were constructed to verify the relationship between hub genes and DRS. In total, 7457 diabetes-related DEGs and 2606 sepsis-related DEGs were identified. GSEA indicated that gene datasets associated with diabetes and sepsis were mainly enriched in metabolic processes linked to inflammatory responses and reactive oxygen species, respectively. WGCNA indicated that grey60 and brown modules were diabetes- and sepsis-related key modules, respectively. Functional analysis showed that grey60 module genes were mainly enriched in cell morphogenesis, heart development, and the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, whereas genes from the brown module were mainly enriched in organelle inner membrane, mitochondrion organization, and oxidative phosphorylation. UBE2D1, IDH1, DLD, ATP5C1, COX6C, and COX7C were identified as hub genes in the PPI network. Animal DRS and neural network prediction models indicated that the expression levels of UBE2D1 and COX7C in DRS models and samples were higher than control mice. UBE2D1 ...

Abstract Cannabidiol (CBD) is the major functional component in hemp and has a broad range of pharmacological applications, such as analgesic, anti-epileptic, anti-anxiety, etc. Currently, CBD is widely used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food. To ensure the quality and safety of the products containing CBD, more and more related sample testing is being conducted, and the demand for CBD-certified reference material (CRM) has also sharply increased. However, there is currently a lack of relevant reference materials. In this paper, a simple method for preparing CBD CRM was established based on preparative liquid chromatography using crude hemp extract as a raw material. A qualitative analysis of CBD was performed using techniques such as ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy (UV), infrared spectroscopy (IR), mass spectrometry (MS), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used for the homogeneity and stability tests, and the data were analyzed using an F-test and a T-test, respectively. Then, eight qualified laboratories were chosen for the determination of a certified value using HPLC. The results show that the CBD CRM had excellent homogeneity and good stability for 18 months. The certified value was 99.57%, with an expanded uncertainty of 0.24% (

Abstract This paper took non-financial listed companies on A-shares from 2014 to 2018 as samples to empirically test the relationship between corporate financialization, financing constraints, and environmental investment. The empirical results showed that the degree of corporate financialization is negatively related to environmental investment, and the negative relationship between long-term financial assets and environmental investment is more significant. Financialization has a “crowding out” effect on environmental investment when the firm is a non-state enterprise or a small-scale enterprise. Financialization has a “reservoir” effect on environmental investment when it is subject to less financing constraints. Further analysis revealed that both long-term and short-term financial assets have an inhibiting effect on environmental investment when environmental regulations are stringent. This paper provides a theoretical reference for companies to make investment decisions on financial assets and to improve their ability on environmental investment and green sustainability.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the effect of chaetocin on pyroptosis of gastric cancer cells and its underlying mechanisms. Methods: The proliferation of gastric cancer cells was detected by trypan blue staining. Flow cytometry and Hoechst/propidium iodide double staining were used to detect apoptosis and pyroptosis. Cellular ultrastructure was observed by transmission electron microscopy. The levels of p-mixed lineage kinase domain-like (MLKL), gasdermin-D (GSDMD), gasdermin E (GSDME), N-GSDMD, and N-GSDME proteins were detected by Western blotting. In addition, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release assay was used to verify pyroptosis induced by chaetocin, and caspase 3 inhibition test and siRNA interference test were conducted to investigate pyroptosis mechanisms. Results: Chaetocin at concentrations of 200 nmol/L to 600 nmol/L inhibited the proliferation of AGS, HGC27, MKN28, and SGC7901 gastric cancer cells in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner by inducing apoptosis and pyroptosis. Significant ultrastructure changes, such as chromatin condensation, vacuolization, disrupted mitochondrial cristae, and increased nuclear occupancy, were observed after treatment with chaetocin in SGC7901 cells. Chaetocin at a concentration of 400 nmol/L significantly increased the number of pyroptotic cells, LDH release, and the ratio of N-GSDME/ GSDME (P<0.01), which were reversed by Z-DEVD-FMK. In addition, chaetocin did not affect the expression of GSDMD. G9a silencing abolished the effect of chaetocin on the expression levels of GSDME and N-GSDME and LDH release (P>0.05). Conclusions: In addition to inducing apoptosis, chaetocin inhibits gastric cancer cells by inducing pyroptosis via the caspase 3/GSDME pathway. G9a was the target of chaetocin to induce pyroptosis of gastric cancer cells.

Abstract Previous research on the link between CMTM6 expression dysregulation and tumor prognosis has been conflicting. In this study, the predictive effect of CMTM6 in malignant tumors was carefully evaluated using meta-analysis. The literature on the relationship between CMTM6 expression level and malignant tumor prognosis was searched in PubMed, Medline, Embase, and Web of Science databases until April 2021. Data were extracted from eligible studies and analyzed using RevMan5.3 and STATA 12.0 software. The HR and 95%CI were used to analyze the link between CMTM6 expression and OS. And the correlation between CMTM6 expression and clinicopathological features LNM and DM was evaluated by OR and 95%CI. Literature screening eventually included 12 studies involving 2133 patients with malignant tumors. High CMTM6 expression was found to be strongly linked with shorter OS and PFS in cancer patients (HR = 1.84,95%CI: 1.28-2.63, P = 0.001). High CMTM6 expression in gastrointestinal cancers was found to be significantly related with a shorter OS (HR = 2.21, 95%CI: 1.75-2.78, P 0.001). PFS was observed to be related with high CMTM6 expression in cancer patients (HR = 2.029, 95%CI: 1.263-3.26, P = 0.003). Meanwhile, high CMTM6 expression was highly associated to LNM (OR = 1.64, 95%CI: 1.02-2.64, P = 0.043) and DM (OR = 4.07, 95%CI: 1.73-9.56, P = 0.001). However, the expression level of CMTM6 in non-gastrointestinal tumors was not statistically significant with OS or LNM. High CMTM6 expression in gastrointestinal cancers is linked to shorter OS and PFS, as well as LNM and DM, suggesting that high CMTM6 expression could be employed as a new diagnosis for poor prognosis and metastasis.
