    Abstract The genus Flagelliphantes Saaristo & Tanasevitch, 1996 was proposed by Saaristo & Tanasevitch, 1996 to accommodate three ex-Lepthyphantes species distributed in northern Eurasia. Male Flagelliphantes are easlily recognised by having a hood-shaped thumb on the embolus. The females have a long, S-shaped scape and the posterior median plate of the epigyne is grossly enlarged (“hypertrophied”).While examining Linyphiidae Blackwall, 1859 specimens from Yunxia Cave in China’s Jilin Province, we discovered a new cave-dwelling species of the genus Flagelliphantes, F. yunxia sp. n. In this paper, we provide detailed description and photos of its diagnostic somatic and genitalic features. It is the first record of the genus from China.

    Abstract The family Pholcidae C.L. Koch, 1850 is highly diverse in Guizhou Province, southwestern China, and currently contains four genera and 22 species. Nevertheless, the distribution of pholcid spiders is conspicuously patchy in Guizhou. Species from Guiyang are poorly studied, and only Pholcus spilis Zhu & Gong, 1991 has been recorded. A survey was undertaken for the first time to study the pholcids in Guiyang. A total of four species are reported, comprising Belisana yuhaoi Yang & Yao, sp. nov. and three other species: Leptopholcus tanikawai Irie, 1999 (new record for Guiyang), Pholcus spilis Zhu & Gong, 1991 and Spermophora senoculata (Dugès, 1836) (new record for Guizhou).

    Abstract The genus Wuliphantes Irfan, Wang & Zhang, 2023 is a small genus in the family Linyphiidae Blackwall, 1859, with only three species: W. guanshan (Irfan, Wang & Zhang, 2022), W. tongluensis (Chen & Song, 1988) and W. trigyrus Irfan, Wang & Zhang, 2023, all distributed in China.A new species: Wuliphantes yaan sp. nov. from Sichuan Province, China is reported.     Abstract Purpose of review: With cardiovascular disease (CVD) being the top cause of deaths worldwide, it is important to ensure healthy cardiovascular aging through enhanced understanding and prevention of adverse health effects exerted by external factors. This review aims to provide an updated understanding of environmental influences on cardiovascular aging, by summarizing epidemiological and mechanistic evidence for the cardiovascular health impact of major environmental stressors, including air pollution, endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), metals, and climate change.
    Recent findings: Recent studies generally support positive associations of exposure to multiple chemical environmental stressors (air pollution, EDCs, toxic metals) and extreme temperatures with increased risks of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in the population. Environmental stressors have also been associated with a number of cardiovascular aging-related subclinical changes including biomarkers in the population, which are supported by evidence from relevant experimental studies. The elderly and patients are the most vulnerable demographic groups to majority environmental stressors. Future studies should account for the totality of individuals' exposome in addition to single chemical pollutants or environmental factors. Specific factors most responsible for the observed health effects related to cardiovascular aging remain to be elucidated.

    Abstract Background: Isolated arrhythmogenic left ventricular cardiomyopathy (IALVC) is a hereditary cardiomyopathy that is characterized by the replacement of left ventricular (LV) cardiomyocytes with fibrous and adipose tissue.
    Case summary: A 55-year-old male patient presented with recurrent chest pain and palpitations characterized by episodes of monomorphic ventricular tachycardia and T-wave inversion. Coronary angiography was conducted to rule out myocardial ischaemia as the cause of chest pain. Echocardiography results revealed ventricular aneurysm formation at the apex of the left ventricle. Structural alterations of the cardiac magnetic resonance were consistent with the diagnosis of arrhythmogenic left ventricular cardiomyopathy with LV alterations without right ventricular involvement. Pathological staining of the lesion area further confirmed the diagnosis of IALVC. The TTN1 c.17617 C>A mutation in arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy was identified using whole exome sequencing. His symptoms improved by the treatments including implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implantation, radiofrequency ablation, and ventricular aneurysm resection.
    Discussion: The patient presented with IALVC with apical fibrofatty displacement and underwent surgical management, highlighting the importance of multimodal imaging, gene analysis, and histopathological findings for timely diagnosis, and emphasizing the benefits of life-saving therapy, including ICD implantation, radiofrequency ablation, and ventricular aneurysm resection. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the clinical presentation and outcome of IALVC.

    Abstract The United Nation’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) are interconnected and indivisible and need to be addressed in a systematic and holistic way. However, a lack of stakeholder perspective, fragmented responses, and a dearth of integration across sectors have long been perceived as the SDGs’ main pitfalls. In recent years, scholars are calling to address these issues by adopting a systems engineering perspective, as this approach espouses a stakeholder-focused position, embraces a holistic and dynamic mindset, and provides a variety of technical and managerial toolkits, which can help to untangle the complexity and interactions inherent in global sustainability. Nevertheless, little has been done to map the existing literature, comprehensively review, and synthesize research evidence in this field. Therefore, this paper aims to conduct a scoping study that analyzes the extant evidence to uncover the contributions of systems engineering in advancing the SDGs. A three-phase methodology integrating natural language processing and systematic literature review is used to investigate this space. We conclude that systems engineering has been an active catalyst promoting the SDGs, and that systems engineering has the potential to support more transdisciplinary research to achieve long-term transformational and sustainable change across sectors and disciplines.

    Abstract In this comprehensive meta-analysis, our objective was to evaluate the diagnostic utility of graft-derived cell-free DNA (GcfDNA) in kidney allograft rejection and explore associated factors. We conducted a thorough search of PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases, spanning from their inception to September 2022. Statistical analysis was executed utilizing Stata 15, Meta-DiSc 1.4, and Review Manager 5.4 software. The combined pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), and the area under the summary receiver operating characteristics (SROC) curve from the synthesis of findings across ten studies were as follows: 0.75 (0.67-0.81), 0.78 (0.72-0.83), 3.36 (2.89-4.35), 0.32 (0.24-0.44), 8.77 (4.34-17.74), and 0.83 (0.80-0.86), respectively. Among the ten studies primarily focused on GcfDNA's diagnostic potential for antibody-mediated rejection (ABMR), the optimal cut-off threshold demonstrated substantial diagnostic efficacy, with pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, DOR, and area under the summary receiver operating characteristics curve values of 0.83 (0.74-0.89), 0.75 (0.70-0.80), 3.37 (2.64-4.30), 0.23 (0.15-0.36), 14.65 (7.94-27.03), and 0.85 (0.82-0.88), respectively. These results underscore the high diagnostic accuracy of GcfDNA in detecting rejection. Furthermore, the optimal cut-off threshold proves effective in diagnosing ABMR, while a 1% threshold remains a robust diagnostic criterion for rejection. Notably, for ABMR diagnosis, droplet digital PCR digital droplet polymerase chain reaction emerges as a superior method in terms of accuracy when compared to other techniques. Nonetheless, further research is warranted to substantiate these findings.

    Abstract Background: Deguelin (DGL) is a natural flavonoid reported to exhibit antitumor effects in breast cancer (BC). PEG-PCL (Polyethylene Glycol- Polycaprolactone), as polymeric micelles, has biodegradability and biocompatibility. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the nanoparticular delivery system, PEG-PCL could improve the bioavailability of DGL for suppressing proliferation of BC cells.
    Methods: PEG-PCL polymers were first prepared by ring-opening polymerization, and DGL and paclitaxel (PTX)-loaded PEG-PCL nano-micelles were formulated via the film dispersion method. The composition and molecular weight of PEG-PCL were analyzed by nuclear magnetic resonance and fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra. Particle size, surface potential and hemolytic activity of micelles were assessed by dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy and hemolysis assay, respectively. Then proliferation and apoptosis of MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-468 cells were tested with Edu staining, CCK-8, TUNEL staining, and Flow cytometer. Caspase 3 expression was also assessed by Western blot.
    Results: Our results first indicated that PEG2000-PCL2000 was successfully synthesized. DGL and PTX-loaded PEG-PCL nano-micelles were rounded in shape with a particle size of 35.78 ± 0.35 nm and a surface potential of 2.84 ± 0.27 mV. The micelles had minimal hemolytic activity. Besides, we proved that DGL and PTX-loaded PEG-PCL nano-micelles could suppress proliferation and induce apoptosis in BC cells. The DGL and PTX-loaded PEG-PCL nano-micelles constructed in this study had a prominent inhibitory role on proliferation and a remarkable promotional role on apoptosis in BC cells.
    Conclusions: This study proposes that nano-micelles formed by PEG-PCL can enhance the cytotoxicity of Paclitaxel against breast cancer cells, and concurrently, the loading of Deguelin may further inhibit cell proliferation. This presents a potential for the development of a novel therapeutic strategy.
