Abstract This paper uses a panel threshold model to examine the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR, hereafter) and enterprises’ economic influence on regional gross domestic product (GDP, hereafter) and employment. We find that there is a threshold effect between CSR and enterprises’ economic influence on regional GDP and employment in different regimes of local GDP and unemployment rates. When local GDP is low, the relationship between CSR and enterprises’ economic influence on regional GDP is significantly negative; however, when local GDP is high, the relationship between the two factors is significantly positive. Meanwhile, firms employing more staff do less CSR when the local unemployment rate is higher. Furthermore, in terms of different government types, the relationship between CSR and corporate influence on regional GDP is negative in predatory and collusive governments, but not in market-leading governments, and the relationship between CSR and corporate influence on regional employment seems insignificant. The findings imply that local leading enterprises exert influence on the social responsibility rules stipulated by local governments by decreasing or increasing regional GDP and regional employment.

Abstract Abstract. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with significant physical and psychological burdens. The interplay between the innate and adaptive immune systems is thought to contribute to the pathogenesis; however, the details of the pathogenesis remain unclear. In addition, reliable biomarkers for diagnosis, assessment of disease activity, and monitoring of therapeutic response are limited. Metabolomics is an emerging science that can be used to identify and analyze low molecular weight molecules in biological systems. During the past decade, metabolomics has been widely used in psoriasis research, and substantial progress has been made. This review summarizes and discusses studies that applied metabolomics to psoriatic disease. These studies have identified dysregulation of amino acids, carnitines, fatty acids, lipids, and carbohydrates in psoriasis. The results from these studies have advanced our understanding of: (1) the molecular mechanisms of psoriasis pathogenesis; (2) diagnosis of psoriasis and assessment of disease activity; (3) the mechanism of treatment and how to monitor treatment response; and (4) the link between psoriasis and comorbid diseases. We discuss common research strategies and progress in the application of metabolomics to psoriasis, as well as emerging trends and future directions.

Abstract Emerging studies underscore the promising capabilities of large language model-based chatbots in conducting fundamental bioinformatics data analyses. The recent feature of accepting image-inputs by ChatGPT motivated us to explore its efficacy in deciphering bioinformatics illustrations. Our evaluation with examples in cancer research, including sequencing data analysis, multimodal network-based drug repositioning, and tumor clonal evolution, revealed that ChatGPT can proficiently explain different plot types and apply biological knowledge to enrich interpretations. However, it struggled to provide accurate interpretations when quantitative analysis of visual elements was involved. Furthermore, while the chatbot can draft figure legends and summarize findings from the figures, stringent proofreading is imperative to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the content.

Abstract Abstract video captioning is a more challenging task that aims to generate abundant natural language descriptions, and it has become a promising direction for artificial intelligence. However, most existing methods are prone to ignore the problems of visual information redundancy and scene information omission due to the limitation of the sampling strategies. To address this problem, a semantic guidance network for video captioning is proposed. More specifically, a novel scene frame sampling strategy is first proposed to select key scene frames. Then, the vision transformer encoder is applied to learn visual and semantic information with a global view, alleviating information loss of modeling long-range dependencies caused in the encoder’s hidden layer. Finally, a non-parametric metric learning module is introduced to calculate the similarity value between the ground truth and the prediction result, and the model is optimized in an end-to-end manner. Experiments on the benchmark MSR-VTT and MSVD datasets show that the proposed method can effectively improve the description accuracy and generalization ability.

Abstract Global encoding of visual features in video captioning is important for improving the description accuracy. In this paper, we propose a video captioning method that combines Vision Transformer (ViT) and reinforcement learning. Firstly, Resnet-152 and ResNeXt-101 are used to extract features from videos. Secondly, the encoding block of the ViT network is applied to encode video features. Thirdly, the encoded features are fed into a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network to generate a video content description. Finally, the accuracy of video content description is further improved by fine-tuning reinforcement learning. We conducted experiments on the benchmark dataset MSR-VTT used for video captioning. The results show that compared with the current mainstream methods, the model in this paper has improved by 2.9%, 1.4%, 0.9% and 4.8% under the four evaluation indicators of LEU-4, METEOR, ROUGE-L and CIDEr-D, respectively.

Abstract Aiming at the problems that the existing video captioning models pay attention to incomplete information and the generation of expression text is not accurate enough, a video captioning model that integrates image, audio, and motion optical flow is proposed. A variety of large-scale dataset pretraining models are used to extract video frame features, motion information, audio features, and video sequence features. An embedded layer structure based on self-attention mechanism is designed to embed single-mode features and learn single-mode feature parameters. Then, two schemes of joint representation and cooperative representation are used to fuse the multimodal features of the feature vectors output by the embedded layer, so that the model can pay attention to different targets in the video and their interactive relationships, which effectively improves the performance of the video captioning model. The experiment is carried out on large datasets MSR-VTT and LSMDC. Under the metrics BLEU4, METEOR, ROUGEL, and CIDEr, the MSR-VTT benchmark dataset obtained scores of 0.443, 0.327, 0.619, and 0.521, respectively. The result shows that the proposed method can effectively improve the performance of the video captioning model, and the evaluation indexes are improved compared with comparison models.

Abstract Rosmarinic acid (RosA) is a natural phenolic acid compound, which is mainly extracted from Labiatae and Arnebia. At present, there is no systematic analysis of its mechanism. Therefore, we used the method of network pharmacology to analyze the mechanism of RosA. In our study, PubChem database was used to search for the chemical formula and the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number of RosA. Then, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP) was used to evaluate the pharmacodynamics of RosA, and the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) was used to identify the potential target genes of RosA. In addition, the Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis of target genes were carried out by using the web-based gene set analysis toolkit (WebGestalt). At the same time, we uploaded the targets to the STRING database to obtain the protein interaction network. Then, we carried out a molecular docking about targets and RosA. Finally, we used Cytoscape to establish a visual protein-protein interaction network and drug-target-pathway network and analyze these networks. Our data showed that RosA has good biological activity and drug utilization. There are 55 target genes that have been identified. Then, the bioinformatics analysis and network analysis found that these target genes are closely related to inflammatory response, tumor occurrence and development, and other biological processes. These results demonstrated that RosA can act on a variety of proteins and pathways to form a systematic pharmacological network, which has good value in drug development and utilization.

Abstract BackgroundCardiac rehabilitation programs aim to avoid further progression and relapse of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Patients with CVDs undergoing rehabilitation often experience difficulties in integrating and transferring the learned health behaviors into their daily life after returning home. This includes regular physical activity (PA) and sufficient fruit and vegetable consumption (FVC). eHealth individualized interventions have shown to be effective in increasing PA and FVC in home settings. As WeChat is the most popular social media site in China, this should be used for the intervention. The aim of this study is to develop and examine a WeChat mini program-based intervention on PA and FVC promotion among Chinese cardiovascular patients in home-based rehabilitation.MethodsThe study will adopt a randomized controlled trial (RCT), comprising a WeChat mini program-based intervention group and a waiting-list control group. The intervention content will be designed based on the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA). One hundred fifty-eight outpatients will be recruited from the cardiac rehabilitation center of a hospital in southern China and randomly assigned to one of the two groups. During the 10-week duration of the intervention, participants will be invited to access a WeChat mini program comprising two Modules. Module 1 provides weekly learning sessions addressing PA and FVC simultaneously for 10 weeks. Module 2 provides a platform, where participants can review their progress with Module 1 at any time and attend incentive activities aiming at promoting engagement and retention. The outcome variables include PA (mins/week), FVC (portion/day), healthy lifestyle (the synthesis of PA and FVC), social-cognitive predictors of behavior change (risk perception, outcome expectancies, self-efficacy, intention, planning, social support, and action control) as well as health outcomes (Body mass index, depression, and quality of life). Data collection will be implemented at pre-test, post-test and a post-test after 3-month respectively.DiscussionThe current study will be significant to understand how such a cost-effective social media mini program-based intervention enables participants to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. If it is effective, it will enrich home-based cardiac rehabilitation approaches which can in turn save the lives of patients as well as much monetary, time and other investments.Trial RegistrationThe study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (Identifier: NCT03636724; Last update posted: July 28, 2020).
