Abstract Heating with wind and solar energy is an effective way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Vapor Compression Heat Pumps (VCHP) were generally used to improve the utilization rate of wind power. However, normal VCHP driven by wind power or solar energy has low performances in low temperature environment and low supply temperature of heating water, and it is also difficult to achieve continues and stable heating because of the intermittence of wind power. The present paper introduces a new integrated heat pump system, in which a VCHP absorbs heat from the environment and sends it to an Absorption Heat Pump (AHP) as its low temperature heat source after temperature lift. Thermal storage system is also equipped for continues heating and it serves as the driving force of the AHP. The results show that the integrated heat pump can produce heating water at 50 °C or even higher with a COP of about 1.42 when the environment temperature is as low as −30 °C. Also, the power consumption of the VCHP accounts for only 5%–18% of the total energy input. This indicates that the energy consumed by the integrated heat pump can be mainly from off-peak electricity produced by the wind turbine.

Abstract As the whole society attaches great importance to the safety of food and medicine, and hydrogen fuel cell and new energy vehicle industry rises suddenly, people’s requirements for clean compressed air is more and more urgent. Water-lubricated single screw compressor is an ideal choice for providing clean air because of the advantages of balanced force, a long service life, and high efficiency, and the influencing factors of its performance have received more and more attention. This study established a mathematical model of the working process of a water-lubricated single-screw air compressor to study the relationship between its performance and the water injection atomization. The model considered leakage and heat transfer between water and moist air and analysed the influences of droplet diameter and rotation speed on compressor performance. The results showed that water injection atomization can effectively reduce the discharge temperature, make the compression process of the compressor tend to isothermal compression. Under rated conditions, a reduction in the droplet diameter from 0.25 mm to 0.15 mm reduced the discharge temperature of the compressor, improved the volume efficiency, and improved the adiabatic efficiency by 31 K, 2.6%, and 8.2%, respectively.

Abstract Foxtail millet is highly valued in China; however, its optimal fertilization parameters are unknown. This study investigated the effects of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) fertilizer combinations on foxtail millet agronomic traits, photosynthetic characteristics, yield, and quality to promote rational fertilizer application. Pot experiments were conducted using the “3414” fertilizer effect scheme and the representative crop variety was JG21, containing four NPK levels and 20 replicates per treatment, individually. The effects of N, P, and K levels on agronomic traits were analyzed during the jointing, heading, and filling stages. JG21 performed optimally under treatment with N₁₆₀P₉₀K₁₅₀ (T₆); the yield and fat content increased by 49.32% and 13% compared to the control. Correlation analysis revealed that N was significantly positively (negatively) correlated with the protein (amylose) content. P was significantly positively correlated with the fat and moisture content and K was correlated with the moisture, fat, and protein content, but was negatively with the amylose content. Overall, rational ratios of NPK fertilization improved foxtail millet yield and quality. Based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, the T₆ treatment (N₁₆₀P₉₀K₁₅₀) demonstrated the highest comprehensive effect among 13 NPK fertilizer combinations. Rational application of NPK in foxtail millet may improve agronomic performance by enhancing leaf photosynthetic efficiency and aboveground biomass accumulation.

Abstract Styrene, a prevalent volatile organic compounds (VOCs), is very harmful to atmosphere and humans. Consequently, the development of efficient detection technologies for styrene is of high importance, which is still in challenge! In this work, we crafted a layered double hydroxide (LDH) porous film-coated gold nanoarray, designed to act as a surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) chip for the efficient and portable detection of gaseous styrene. This chip features a covering layer composed of cross-linked LDH nanosheets, notable for their porous structure and high specific surface area. When the covering layer is 100-300 nm in thickness, this composite chip has significant enrichment effect and strong SERS performance to gaseous styrene with a lowest detectable concentration below 1 ppb (4.64 ×10

Abstract Background: Over the years, programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) inhibitors have been routinely used for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treatment and yielded improved survival outcomes. Nonetheless, significant heterogeneity surrounds the outcomes of most studies. Therefore, it is critical to search for biomarkers that predict the efficacy of PD-1 inhibitors in patients with HCC.
Aim: To investigate the role of the C-reactive protein to albumin ratio (CAR) in evaluating the efficacy of PD-1 inhibitors for HCC.
Methods: The clinical data of 160 patients with HCC treated with PD-1 inhibitors from January 2018 to November 2022 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University were retrospectively analyzed.
Results: The optimal cut-off value for CAR based on progression-free survival (PFS) was determined to be 1.20 using x-tile software. Cox proportional risk model was used to determine the factors affecting prognosis. Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status [hazard ratio (HR) = 1.754, 95% confidence interval (95%CI) = 1.045-2.944,
Conclusion: Overall, we reveal that the CAR is a potential predictor of short- and long-term prognosis in patients with HCC treated with PD-1 inhibitors. If further verified, CAR-based nomogram may increase the number of markers that predict individualized prognosis.

Abstract Addressing the growing need of oil-free compressed air has drawn the development of the water-lubricated single-screw air compressor (WLSSAC). For WLSSAC, clearance height is an important design parameters relevant to compressor performance. In this study, a thermodynamic model of the working process of a WLSSAC is established in consideration of the viscous friction power consumption and mass transfer between water and wet air. The theoretical model is simulated by Matlab software, and the accuracy of the theoretical model is verified by experimental results. The influence of each leakage path on the rate of leakage flow, viscous friction power consumption, and efficiency are analyzed using the proposed model. The effects of clearance height on adiabatic efficiency, volumetric efficiency, and specific power are calculated and discussed. Results show that the viscous friction power consumption caused by wall velocity decreases gradually with the increase in clearance height, while the viscous friction power consumption caused by pressure difference increases gradually in each leakage path. With the increase in clearance height, the rate of leakage flow increases gradually, the adiabatic and volumetric efficiencies decrease gradually, and the specific power increases gradually. The clearance height is recommended to be 0.03–0.06 mm for the design of WLSSAC.

Abstract Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology is an effective technical path to realize power generation from low or medium grade energy. Utilizing hermetic expanders with internal generators has become an important development direction of ORC system because the machines are easy to get full tightness. However, due to the high temperature of the gas in expander, it will be very difficult to cool the internal generators in hermetic expanders. This paper introduces three schemes for cooling the internal generators in hermetic expanders, and establishes corresponding thermodynamic models as well as quantitatively analyzes the influences of each cooling scheme on ORC system. The simulation results show that the spray cooling scheme has the least influence on the thermodynamic efficiency of the system whether R245fa or R123 is used as the working fluid, and the maximum thermodynamic efficiency drop of 0.21% caused by cooling the generator is much smaller than the other two schemes. In medium-high temperature conditions, both spray cooling and exhaust-spray cooling schemes can effectively reduce the generator temperature. However, the latter has a much larger impact on the thermodynamic efficiency of the system than the former one. The conclusions can provide a guide for the design of hermetic expanders.

Abstract The operating performance of the expander, as the core component of the ORC system, directly determines the comprehensive performance of the system. Single screw expander (SSE) has received widespread attention due to its advantages such as large single-stage expansion pressure ratio, insensitivity to liquid, wide working range, and balanced forces. This study fully considers the strong coupling, high nonlinearity, large time variability and uncertainty between SSE performance evaluation indexes and operating parameters. On this basis, a scatter–bilinear interpolation hybrid feature selection approach is proposed, and the feature selection and analysis of the correlation degree among SSE performance evaluation indexes are conducted. In the high-dimensional space, the influence of operating parameters on different performance evaluation indexes is analyzed. Then, this study proposes the ensemble learning-driven non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-III (NSGA-III) approach. An ensemble learning-driven NSGA-III model for SSE performance limit optimization is constructed on the basis of the scatter–bilinear interpolation hybrid feature selection method and the ensemble learning-driven NSGA-III approach. In the hyperdimensional space, the performance limits of SSE are obtained. When the comprehensive performance of SSE reaches its limit, the shaft efficiency, expansion pressure ratio, and power output are 53.71%, 7.76, and 10.83 kW, respectively. This research provides a reliable reference for analyzing, designing, and optimizing the SSE performance limits, and it also provides a direct guidance for obtaining the SSE performance limits in the ORC system.

Abstract Background: Recent studies have shown that the fibrinogen to albumin ratio (FAR) is closely related to the prognosis of various cancers. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the prognostic value of FAR in malignancies based on the available evidence.
Method: To systematically search the Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, Google Scholar, Baidu scholars, CNKI and VIP databases for relevant studies published before April 1, 2022, and to evaluate the fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR) and survival of patients with malignant tumors through a meta-analysis relationship between the results. Results. This meta-analysis included 19 eligible studies involving 5926 cancer patients. We found that high FAR was associated with poor overall survival (HR=2.25, 95%CI 1.86-2.74, p<0.001), recurrence-free survival (HR=2.29, 95%CI 1.91-2.76, P<0.001), progression-free survival (HR: 2.10, 95%CI 1.58-2.79, p<0.001), disease-free survival (HR=1.52, 95%CI 1.17-1.96, p=0.001), and time to recurrence (HR: 1.555, 95%CI 1.031-2.346, P=0.035) was significantly correlated.
Conclusions: High FAR is significantly associated with poor clinical outcomes in cancer, suggesting that it may be an important predictor of prognosis in patients with malignancies.
