    Abstract The purpose of this study is to understand the impact of ideological and political education with regards to ecological civilization on college students’ pro-environment attitudes. Based on the survey data of 1622 college students, a series of econometric models are built to understand and test the impact of ideological and political education on students’ pro-environment willingness. The results show that the ideological and political education of ecological civilization can effectively promote the environmental will of college students; the accumulation of environmental knowledge, ecological concern, and ecological reflection are the important mediums for the ideological and political education of ecological civilization; and the medium effect of ecological reflection is the strongest. In addition, this study also indicates that the pro-environment willingness of college students and their professional categories, whether to join the eco-environmental association, and other factors have a significant correlation. Therefore, this study reveals the current impact of ecological civilization education and the role of the mechanism for college educators and policymakers to promote the protection of the ecological environment, which provides an important reference.

    Abstract Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis is the deformity of the human spine in three-dimensional space. It is a disease with a long course and difficult to recover in a short time. Currently, spinal orthotic braces are an effective non-surgical treatment for this condition. However, existing spinal orthotic braces are still deficient. For example, existing spinal orthotics braces have no way of knowing how correct, effective, and comfortable a patient is wearing the orthotics. Based on distributed pressure monitoring technology, this paper conducts pressure acquisition and compensation research on spinal orthotics used by adolescent patients. After analyzing the principles of orthopedics and selecting monitoring points, this paper selects appropriate sensors and calibrates them. An intelligent wearable system for adolescent spinal orthotics was developed based on these findings. The experimental results show that the system can effectively monitor the process of patients wearing spinal orthotic braces. In addition, the system can compensate and visualize the pressure in real-time, so that doctors and patients can know the process and make judgments and adjustments.

    Abstract Abstract Momordica charantia (M. charantia), as a common edible vegetable and herb, is mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. M. charantia polysaccharides (MCPs), as the main pharmacologically active component in M. charantia, are water-soluble polysaccharides with an average molecular weight of 4–900 kDa. The extraction methods of MCPs mainly include hot water extraction, acid extraction, alkali extraction, ultrasonic extraction, enzyme extraction and three-phase partitioning extraction, and different extraction methods will affect the yield of MCPs. MCPs possess a variety of bioactivities, including antidiabetic, antiaging, antioxidant, antiviral, immunomodulatory and neuroprotective effects. The purpose of this review is to systematically summarize the latest research progress of MCPs in extraction, purification, structural characterization, and biological activity. In addition, the structure–activity relationship will be further discussed. We believe that this review will provide a useful reference for the investigation, production, and application of MCPs in functional foods and therapeutic agents. Graphical Abstract

    Abstract Background/aims: Colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks third among malignancies in terms of global incidence and has a poor prognosis. The identification of effective diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers is critical for CRC treatment. This study intends to explore novel genes associated with CRC progression via bioinformatics analysis.
    Materials and methods: Dataset GSE184093 was selected from the Gene Expression Omnibus database to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between CRC and noncancerous specimens. Functional enrichment analyses were implemented for probing the biological functions of DEGs. Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis and Kaplan-Meier plotter databases were employed for gene expression detection and survival analysis, respectively. Western blotting and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction were employed for detecting molecular protein and messenger RNA levels, respectively. Flow cytometry, Transwell, and CCK-8 assays were utilized for examining the effects of GBA2 and ST3GAL5 on CRC cell behaviors.
    Results: There were 6464 DEGs identified, comprising 3005 downregulated DEGs (dDEGs) and 3459 upregulated DEGs (uDEGs). Six dDEGs were significantly associated with the prognoses of CRC patients, including PLCE1, PTGS1, AMT, ST8SIA1, ST3GAL5, and GBA2. Upregulating ST3GAL5 or GBA2 repressed the malignant behaviors of CRC cells.
    Conclusion: We identified 6 genes related to CRC progression, which could improve the disease prognosis and treatment.

    Abstract Diversified noise sources pose great challenges in the engineering of an ANC (active noise control) system design. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an ANC method based on VMD (variational mode decomposition) and Ensemble Learning. VMD is used to extract IMFs (Intrinsic Model Functions) of different types of noise and obtain the approximate entropy of each IMF. Clustering analysis on the output of VMD is conducted based on the PCA (principal component analysis) dimension reduction method and k-means++ method to get classification results for different noises. On the basis of the clustering results, different GBDT (gradient boosting decision tree) regressors are constructed for different noise types, in order to create a high-performance ANC system for multiple noise sources. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, this paper designed four simulation schemes for the ANC: obstacle-free rectangular enclosed space, rectangular enclosed space with obstacle, obstacle-free trapezoidal enclosed space and trapezoidal enclosed space with obstacle. When machine gun noise is used as an example, noise attenuation by the proposed method in four simulation schemes is −23.27 dB, −21.6 dB, −19.08 dB and −15.48 dB respectively.

    Abstract In recent decades, the application of GIS and RS in archaeological and cultural heritage (ACH) has witnessed a notable surge both in terms of quantity and scope. During the initial implementation period (2016–2021) of the Digital Belt and Road Heritage (DBAR-Heritage) working group, several instances of GIS-RS-based applications in support of cultural heritage conservation have merged. In this paper, in order to discuss the great potential of GIS and RS on the Silk Road, an overview of GIS- and RS-based applications in ACH is first presented. In a substantial portion of the published scientific literature, the identification and comprehension of archaeological sites, the monitoring and risk assessment of cultural heritage, and the management and visualization of cultural heritage data are highlighted. Following this, five illustrative case studies from the DBAR-Heritage working group are presented to exemplify how the integration of GIS and RS serves as key approaches in recognizing and appreciating cultural heritage. These selected case studies showcase the utilization of multi-source data for the identification of linear sites; detailed, refined monitoring and assessment of the Angkor Wat heritage; and the reconstruction of the Silk Road routes. These instances serve as the cornerstone for highlighting current trends in GIS and RS applications in ACH along the Silk Road. These methodologies efficiently integrate multi-source geospatial data and employ multidisciplinary approaches, ultimately furnishing sophisticated and intelligent tools for the exploration and management of archaeological and cultural heritage in the era of Big Earth Data. Subsequently, a comprehensive discussion on the merits and challenges of GIS and RS applications in ACH is presented, followed by an exploration of the current application trends. Finally, the prospects for the widespread application of GIS and RS in ACH along the Silk Road are outlined in accordance with the operational plan of DBAR-Heritage during its second ...

    Abstract Due to the growing trend of rural labor migration, farmers’ labor allocation under the condition of constant time endowment has gradually become a key factor in the transformation of green agricultural production methods. Using the propensity score matching method, this paper verified the influence of labor migration on citrus growers’ fertilizer application using 814 survey data from Sichuan Province, China. The study found that the boosting effect of capacity accumulation brought on by farmers’ labor migration was greater than the weakening effect of labor constraints and that the average chemical fertilizer application per acre decreased from 6.95 to 6.74 after farmers’ labor migration, a 3.06 percent decrease. Second, labor migration reduces chemical fertilizer application by allowing farmers to acquire knowledge and technology for green agricultural production and to increase off-farm income. Third, the choice of labor migration by farmers with higher agricultural incomes and younger ages promotes a reduction in their chemical fertilizer application. Therefore, this paper makes the following suggestions: the government should appropriately guide farmers in their labor migration decisions, increase public awareness of green agricultural knowledge and technology, and encourage farmers to to invest their off-farm income in green production. Farmers with higher agricultural income and younger ages, in particular, should be encouraged to choose labor migration and train to become new agricultural business entities.

    Abstract This study combined theoretical analysis, physical simulation, and numerical simulation to discuss the influences of the structural evolution and motion characteristics of a hard roof during thickening coal seam mining on working face pressure. Results showed that during the mining of the thickening coal seam with a hard roof, the settlement curve of low-level strata was a stepwise wave slope, and the settlement curve of high-level strata shifted from a “V-shaped” distribution pattern to a parabola under the full mining of the coal seam. When the mining thickness was relatively small, the mining space expanded with the increase in mining thickness due to the “masonry beam” structure formed by the low-level, sub-critical overlying strata. The low-level critical strata formed a “composite cantilever beam” structure with a hard immediate roof after advancing into the caving zone. After complete recovery, the overlying strata were in a steady-movement state, and the plastic failure zone of the overlying strata of the thickening coal seam presented obvious distribution characteristics of longitudinal and transverse partitions. This study provides theoretical reference for coal seam mining under similar geological conditions.
