Abstract Distributed generators (D.G.'s) enable us to generate, supply and be self-reliant on power while also allows us to supply power to meet the demand through virtual power plants. The virtual power plants also help us analyse, control, optimise, and help bridge the gap of demand and supply in these vast energy requirements. With this also comes challenges associated with securing physical systems, data protection and information privacy. Recent technological advancements have aided cybercriminals to disrupt operations by carrying out deliberate attacks on the energy sector. Though security researchers have tried to mitigate the risks, vulnerabilities, and it remains a challenge. This paper aims to present a comprehensive Edge-based security architecture to help reduce the risks and help secure the physical systems and ensure privacy and data protection.

Abstract The declaration of COVID 19 as pandemic has impacted the society at large. In what started with 17 cases in Wuhan spread its tentacles and has now over 4 million cases across the globe. In this rapidly changing environment, it is extremely difficult to quantify the impacts that the virus has on many aspects of society. The paper highlights the various challenges and the impact on society, economy and general health. These are only initial levels impacts, and it goes on with greater implications on growth depends on many factors, including the social distancing norms and shutdown rules laid by countries. Nonetheless, it is clear that the virus is here to stay and is likely to impact growth, health and society substantially. Abstract The novel coronavirus or COVID-19 has extended its spread across the globe, and most of the countries have reported infections. In what started as a first case single reported in Egypt has now magnified and close to about 355000+ infections have been reported across the African region as on 26-6-2020. The transmission trajectory of COVID-19 across the globe remains a mystery, and much remains to be learned. The fear of spread among nations is a cause for concern, especially among African countries with weaker governance, high poverty levels, weak health systems etc. The density of population in urban areas could be a trigger factor and could be devastating. The management and control of COVID-19 are critical to check the spread, and most of it is reliant on the health facilities in countries to carryout repeated tests. This paper aims to analyses the various parameters and tabulates a risk matrix and places it analysis using SPSS based on the available data. The analysis also provides potential insight into the vulnerabilities among African countries and a relative review of factors associated with the novel coronavirus. Abstract The growth of renewable energy technologies as an alternative source of power is a great boon to the rural masses where energy is predominantly a challenge. This paper focuses on studying the microeconomic benefits of the virtual power plant as a solution to the rural masses who either have no access to energy or has limited access. The model here uses HOMER as a tool for modelling the design. The simulation results discuss the profitability of the virtual power plant as a solution not only to the virtual power plant operator but also to the rural households while ensuring a sustainable income source with the use of solar power PV as a generator.
