Abstract LPWANs are a promising solution for wireless sensor networks. To compete with such widespread technologies as LoRaWAN and Sigfox, recently a new LPWAN technology called NB-Fi has been developed. In a short time, many NB-Fi networks have been deployed in various countries. Although NB-Fi, Sigfox, and LoRaWAN have been designed for similar applications, they implement different approaches. However, no detailed comparisons of them are present in academic literature. This paper aims to fill this gap by analyzing and comparing NB-Fi, Sigfox, and LoRaWAN focusing on performance evaluation results rather than just nominal parameters declared by the developers. Specifically, the paper evaluates the packet loss rate, packet error rate, and average delay in these networks in different scenarios. The results are used to provide guidelines to decide which technology to use under which conditions. Specifically, Sigfox performs best in scenarios when devices transmit small pieces of data without repetitions and acknowledgments, and LoRaWAN is the most reliable for transmitting bigger pieces of data, while NB-Fi is best suited for acknowledged transmissions of small pieces of data.

Abstract NB-Fi is a new low-power wide-area network technology, which has become widely used for smart cities, smart grids, the Industrial Internet of Things, and telemetry applications. Although many countries use NB-Fi, almost no papers study NB-Fi, and its peak performance is unknown. This article aims to fill this gap by analyzing this technology and studying the problem of rate assignment in NB-Fi networks. For that, this article develops a mathematical model used to find the packet loss ratio, packet error rate, and the average delay for various rate assignment approaches. The performance evaluation results are used to develop the guidelines for NB-Fi configuration to optimize the network performance.

Abstract Intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors often do not seek critically needed help. A good understanding of the relationship between the pattern of violence and help-seeking is critical to developing adequate services for the survivors, as well as for reaching out to those who do not seek help. This study used the National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey to examine how IPV survivor's help-seeking varies, depending on the characteristics of the survivors and the pattern of victimization. Logistic regression analyses were conducted, with the survivors' help-seeking and use of formal or informal help as the dependent variables. The study results show that women are the primary victims of IPV, that the pattern of victimization is associated with both whether survivors seek help or not, and which help sources they utilize, if any. IPV consequences are also associated with survivors' help-seeking, as are demographic factors such as age, gender, race, and immigration status.

Abstract The non-medicamental therapeutic modalities find an increasingly wider application for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the health status in man. Speleotherapy is one of such methods. The Republican Speleotherapeutic Hospital of Belarus exploits the underground speleocomplex in which over 42,000 petients with respiratory diseases and allergic pathologies were given the required treatment. The clinical effectiveness of speleotherapy is estimated at 97.3%. Remission persists for 7.0±0.4 months on the average within one year after a course of speleotherapy. Repeated courses are followed by even longer periods of remission (up to 2.5-3 years). It is concluded that speleotherapy is the highly efficient method for the rehabilitation of the patients presenting with respiratory diseases and allergic pathologies.
