    Abstract Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive lung disease with high mortality. The Food and Drug Administration-approved drugs, nintedanib and pirfenidone, could delay progressive fibrosis by inhibiting the overactivation of fibroblast, however, there was no significant improvement in patient survival due to low levels of drug accumulation and remodeling of honeycomb cyst and interstitium surrounding the alveoli. Herein, we constructed a dual drug (verteporfin and pirfenidone)-loaded nanoparticle (Lip@VP) with the function of inhibiting airway epithelium fluidization and fibroblast overactivation to prevent honeycomb cyst and interstitium remodeling. Specifically, Lip@VP extensively accumulated in lung tissues via atomized inhalation. Released verteporfin inhibited the fluidization of airway epithelium and the formation of honeycomb cyst, and pirfenidone inhibited fibroblast overactivation and reduced cytokine secretion that promoted the fluidization of airway epithelium. Our results indicated that Lip@VP successfully rescued lung function through inhibiting honeycomb cyst and interstitium remodeling. This study provided a promising strategy to improve the therapeutic efficacy for IPF.

    Abstract In advanced liver fibrosis (LF), macrophages maintain the inflammatory environment in the liver and accelerate LF deterioration by secreting proinflammatory cytokines. However, there is still no effective strategy to regulate macrophages because of the difficulty and complexity of macrophage inflammatory phenotypic modulation and the insufficient therapeutic efficacy caused by the extracellular matrix (ECM) barrier. Here, AC73 and siUSP1 dual drug-loaded lipid nanoparticle is designed to carry milk fat globule epidermal growth factor 8 (MFG-E8) (named MUA/Y) to effectively inhibit macrophage proinflammatory signals and degrade the ECM barrier. MFG-E8 is released in response to the high reactive oxygen species (ROS) environment in LF, transforming macrophages from a proinflammatory (M1) to an anti-inflammatory (M2) phenotype and inducing macrophages to phagocytose collagen. Collagen ablation increases AC73 and siUSP1 accumulation in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and inhibits HSCs overactivation.     Abstract Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a relatively complex disease characterized by narrowing of the arterial lumen and reduction of blood flow to the heart. There is no effective early diagnosis and prevention method. Jing Zhi Guan Xin Pian (JZGXP) is a new preparation prepared from the effective extract of Guanxin II. It is made of five components of traditional Chinese medicine and functions by promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis and is used for the treatment of CHD and angina pectoris. In our study, a CHD rat model was prepared using a high-fat diet combined with intraperitoneal injection of vitamin D3. Clinical biochemical indexes (TG, CHO and HDL-C), histopathology (coronary and myocardial tissue), electrocardiogram and cardiac indexes were used to evaluate the efficacy of JZGXP in the treatment of CHD model rats. UPLC-HDMS-based metabolomics techniques were used to find metabolic profiles, biomarkers and related metabolic pathways in CHD models and to evaluate the effects of JZGXP on them. At the same time, the targets of JZGXP for the treatment of CHD were analyzed. Our study ultimately identified 25 biomarkers associated with CHD models. Further studies found that these 25 biomarkers involved 9 metabolic pathways in the body and found that JZGXP can recall 21 biomarkers in the urine of model rats and these biomarkers involve nine metabolic pathways. Finally, the targets of JZGXP for the treatment of CHD were β-alanine metabolism and tyrosine metabolism,

    Abstract Unlabelled: OBJECTIVE To verify the correlation between the points of eye acupuncture and zang-fu function so as to provide the theoretical evidence for the principle of point selection in eye acupuncture therapy.
    Methods: Sixty cases of cerebral infarction were treated with different points according to syndrome differentiation of Chinese medicine.
    Main points: upper energizer area and lower energizer area. Supplementary points: liver area, kidney area and spleen area for hyperactivity of wind, phlegm and fire; liver area and spleen area for blockage of wind, phlegm and stasis; stomach area and large intestine area for excess fu syndrome due to phlegm heat; heart area and spleen area for qi deficiency and blood stasis; liver area and kidney area for yin deficiency and wind stirring. The single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) was adopted to observe the changes in blood flow in local foci before and after treatment with eye acupuncture.
    Results: After the treatment with eye acupuncture therapy, the intake ratio of region of interest (ROI) between the lesion area and corresponding area on the opposite side was 0.74 +/- 0.12 before eye acupuncture and was 0.91 +/- 0.08 after treatment, indicating significant statistical difference in comparison (P < 0.05). After eye acupuncture, cerebral blood flow increased apparently.
    Conclusion: The point selection according to syndrome differentiation in eye acupuncture therapy may increase local brain blood flow in the patients with cerebral infarction and improve the state of brain ischemia so that the correlation can be proved between the points of eye acupuncture and zang-fu function.
