Abstract Quality improvement is a methodology which was initially developed and employed in the field of industrial manufacturing. This approach involves implementing a series of interventions aimed at elevating the existing quality standards to a higher level. In daily medical work, there are often spontaneous quality improvements. Medical quality improvements supported by scientific methodology can evaluate medical quality more scientifically and provide objective feedback on the quality of medical work for healthcare professionals. This article provides a concise introduction to quality improvement and shows its application and significance in the field of clinical medicine through examples.

Abstract Based on the generalized Lorenz-Mie theory (GLMT) and the scattering theory of uniaxial spheres, a theoretical approach is introduced to study the axial radiation force (AOF) exerted on a uniaxial anisotropic sphere illuminated by an on-axis high-order Bessel (vortex) beams (HOBVBs). Applying Maxwell's stress tensor, an analytical expression of the AOF on a uniaxial anisotropic sphere by the on-axis HOBVB is derived. The correctness of the theoretical and numerical results is verified by comparing the AOF on an isotropic sphere by a zero-order Bessel beam (ZOBB) with those results by a plane wave, Gaussian beam, and ZOBB. The focus of this study is to determine some conditions of the tractor beam, so as to realize the inverse motion of an anisotropic sphere through a Bessel beam. The range of optical pulling force (OPF) that can pull particles in reverse motion generated by zero-order and first-order Bessel beams is extended from isotropic spherical particles to anisotropic spherical particles. The effects of the sphere radius, conical angle, and especially electromagnetic anisotropy parameters on the OPF in water or a vacuum environment are discussed in detail. Moreover, the OPF exerted on the uniaxial anisotropic sphere illuminated by a HOBVB with

Abstract Objective: To investigate the influence of adjuvant therapy with ambroxol hydrochloride (ABH) on the clinical symptoms and pulmonary function of elderly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.
Methods: From September 2018 to September 2019, 142 elderly COPD patients admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University were recruited as the research cohort. Based on different treatment method each patient underwent, they were assigned to the control group (CG, n=69) or the research group (RG, n=73). In the CG, the patients were treated with routine symptomatic treatment, and the patients in the RG were treated with ABH in addition to the treatment administered in the control group.
Results: After the therapy, the clinical symptom scores in the RG were significantly lower than they were in the CG (P<0.05), and the total effective rate of the clinical treatment was significantly higher than it was in the CG (P<0.05). The 6MWT scores in the RG were higher than they were in the CG (P<0.001), and the CAT scores were significantly lower than they were in the CG (P<0.001). The inflammatory factor levels in the RG were markedly lower than they were in the CG (P<0.001), and the pulmonary function and immune function indexes were better than they were in the CG (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the adverse effects between the two groups (P>0.05).
Conclusion: ABH can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms and improve the pulmonary function of elderly COPD patients, with a significant clinical effectiveness and high drug safety, so it is worthy of promoting.

Abstract Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common clinical syndrome characterized by a rapid deterioration in renal function, manifested by a significant increase in creatinine and a sharp decrease in urine output. The incidence of morbidity and mortality associated with AKI is on the rise, with most patients progressing to chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease. Treatment options for patients with AKI remain limited. Circular RNA (circRNA) is a wide and diverse class of non-coding RNAs that are present in a variety of organisms and are involved in gene expression regulation. Studies have shown that circRNA acts as a competing RNA, is involved in disease occurrence and development, and has potential as a disease diagnostic and prognostic marker. CircRNA is involved in the regulation of important biological processes, including apoptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammation. This study reviews the current status and progress of circRNA research in the context of AKI.

Abstract Considerable progress has been made in the experimental studies on laser-induced terahertz (THz) radiation in liquids. Liquid THz demonstrates many unique features different from the gas and plasma THz. For example, the liquid THz can be efficiently produced by a monochromatic laser. Its yield is maximized with a longer driving-pulse duration. It is also linearly dependent on the excitation pulse energy. In two-color laser fields, an unexpected unmodulated THz field was measured, and its energy dependence of the driving laser is completely different from that of the modulated THz waves. However, the underlying microscopic mechanism is still unclear due to the difficulties in the description of ultrafast dynamics in complex disordered liquids. Here we propose a shift-current model. The experimental observations could be reproduced by our theory successfully. In addition, our theory could be further utilized to investigate the nuclear quantum effect in the THz radiation in H

Abstract Brand image assessment is a key step to reasonably quantify the value of a brand and has far-reaching significance for improving the competitiveness of an enterprise. With the rapid development of Internet technology, traditional questionnaires can no longer meet the current needs of brand image assessment. In this environment, the huge amount of fragmented consumer topic data provides a rich data resource and new research ideas for brand image assessment. Therefore, a brand image assessment method based on consumer sentiment analysis is proposed. First, a topic-based brand image cognitive label extraction method is proposed by setting language rules, aggregation rules, and ranking rules according to the characteristics of online topic data. Then, the fusion of cognitive labels and deep features is performed by fusing the deep features extracted from word vectors. Finally, a supervised learning support vector machine is selected as the sentiment classification model. The experimental results show that based on the obtained important cognitive labels, enterprises are able to better understand the unique attributes that consumers have for the brand; the feature fusion approach is better evaluated and can accurately reflect consumers' views on brand image and quantified as brand score.

Abstract This study explores the efficacy of various EEG complexity measures in detecting mind wandering during video-based learning. Employing a modified probe-caught method, we recorded EEG data from participants engaged in viewing educational videos and subsequently focused on the discrimination between mind wandering (MW) and non-MW states. We systematically investigated various EEG complexity metrics, including metrics that reflect a system's regularity like multiscale permutation entropy (MPE), and metrics that reflect a system's dimensionality like detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA). We also compare these features to traditional band power (BP) features. Data augmentation methods and feature selection were applied to optimize detection accuracy. Results show BP features excelled (mean area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) 0.646) in datasets without eye-movement artifacts, while MPE showed similar performance (mean AUC 0.639) without requiring removal of eye-movement artifacts. Combining all kinds of features improved decoding performance to 0.66 mean AUC. Our findings demonstrate the potential of these complexity metrics in EEG analysis for mind wandering detection, highlighting their practical implications in educational contexts.

Abstract Backgrounds: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a common malignancy in the head and neck. Baicalein has been reported to exert the anticancer effects on various cancers. In this study, our aim was to explore the function of baicalein in the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and further investigate the potential underlying mechanisms.
Methods: Cell Counting Kit (CCK)-8 assay, EdU assay, sphere formation assay, flow cytometry, and transwell invasion assay were conducted to determine cell proliferation, stemness, apoptosis, and invasion, respectively. Western blot was performed to examine the protein levels of PCNA, MMP9, STMN1, β-catenin, and Wnt3A. The mRNA level of STMN1 was assessed using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Xenograft tumor model was carried out to evaluate the effects of baicalein on tumor growth in vivo. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay was used to detect the levels of PCNA, MMP9, and STMN1 in tumor tissues from mice.
Results: Baicalein significantly induced cell apoptosis and impeded cell proliferation, invasion, and stemness of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. STMN1 was highly expressed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and baicalein could directly downregulate STMN1 expression. STMN1 knockdown hampered the progression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. Moreover, the effects of baicalein on cell proliferation, stemness, invasion, and apoptosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells were harbored by STMN1 overexpression. Baicalein regulated STMN1 to inhibit the activation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. SKL2001, an agonist of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, could reverse the effects of STMN1 knockdown on the progression of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In addition, baicalein markedly impeded tumor growth in vivo.
Conclusion: Baicalein regulated the STMN1/Wnt/β-catenin pathway to restrain the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
