Abstract The branchpoint (BP) motif is an essential intronic element for spliceosomal pre-mRNA splicing. In mammals, its sequence composition, distance to the downstream exon, and number of BPs per 3´ splice site are highly variable, unlike the GT/AG dinucleotides at the intron ends. These variations appear to provide evolutionary advantages for fostering alternative splicing, satisfying more diverse cellular contexts, and promoting resilience to genetic changes, thus contributing to an extra layer of complexity for gene regulation. Importantly, variants in the BP motif itself or in genes encoding BP-interacting factors cause human genetic diseases or cancers, highlighting the critical function of BP motif and the need to precisely identify functional BPs for faithful interpretation of their roles in splicing. In this perspective, we will succinctly summarize the major findings related to BP motif variations, discuss the relevant issues/challenges, and provide our insights.

Abstract Minimal participation in green agricultural development may be achieved via the conventional integration of agriculture and tourism, which has a minimal impact on farmers’ green output. New traits have emerged as a result of agro-tourism integration with digital empowerment. It was shown that agro-tourism integration with digital empowerment had a stronger impact on farmers’ green output than traditional agro-tourism integration, based on the construction of the dynamic information game model and the case of Xichong, Sichuan. The integration of agriculture and tourism from the perspective of digital empowerment is characterized by “data traceability” and “information diffusion”, which restrains opportunistic farmer impersonation. The feature of “knowledge sharing” promotes the progress of agricultural technology, reduces the cost of green production and increases the probability of farmers producing high-quality agricultural products. The “information matching” feature promotes the symmetry of quality information, and production and sales information at both ends of supply and demand, and raises the prices of high-quality agricultural products. The latter two features jointly enhance the willingness of honest farmers to produce green items by reducing the cost of green production and increasing the prices of high-quality agricultural products. From the perspective of digital empowerment, the integration of agriculture and tourism can further promote farmers’ green production by effectively suppressing opportunistic farmers’ fake behavior and promoting honest farmers’ green production to a greater extent.

Abstract Non-radiographic axial spondyloarthropathy (nr-axSpA) is a clinical diagnosis of symptoms matching inflammatory back pain criteria without radiological lesions at the sacroiliac joint. The frequency of an early nr-axSpA-like presentation in lymphoma patients has not been clarified. Here we report a woman in her 20s with a fever and musculoskeletal discomfort. Detailed investigations revealed that she was suffering from Burkitt lymphoma in which nr-axSpA-like symptoms were a musculoskeletal manifestation of the disease, irrelevant to the anti-neoplastic treatment.

Abstract In this study, sea surface wind speed was retrieved using the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) dual-frequency precipitation radar (DPR) Ka-band data. In order to establish the Ka-band model at low incidence angles, the dependence of the DPR Ka-band normalized radar cross section (NRCS) on the wind speed, incidence angle, sea surface temperature (SST), significant wave height (SWH), and sea surface current speed (CSPD) was analyzed first. We confirmed that the normalized radar cross section depends on the wind speed, incidence angle, and SST. Second, an empirical model at low incidence angles was established. This model links the Ka-band NRCS to the incidence angle, wind speed, and SST. Additionally, the wind speed was retrieved by the model and was validated via the GPM Microwave Imager (GMI) wind product. The validation yielded a root mean square error (RMSE) of 1.45 m/s and the RMSE was better at a lower incidence angle and a higher SST. This model may expand the use of GPM DPR data in enriching the sea surface wind speed data set. It is also helpful for other Ka-band spaceborne radars at low incidence angles to measure wind speed in the future.
