Abstract An interplay between pairing and topological orders has been predicted to give rise to superconducting states supporting exotic emergent particles, such as Majorana particles obeying non-Abelian braid statistics. We consider a system of spin polarized electrons on a Hofstadter lattice with nearest-neighbor attractive interaction and solve the mean-field Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations in a self-consistent fashion, leading to gauge-invariant observables and a rich phase diagram as a function of the chemical potential, the magnetic field, and the interaction. As the strength of the attractive interaction is increased, the system first makes a transition from a quantum Hall phase to a skyrmion lattice phase that is fully gapped in the bulk but has topological chiral edge current, characterizing a topologically nontrivial state. This is followed by a vortex phase in which the vortices carrying Majorana modes form a lattice; the spectrum contains a low-energy Majorana band arising from the coupling between neighboring vortex-core Majorana modes but does not have chiral edge currents. For some parameters, a dimer vortex lattice occurs with no Majorana band. The experimental feasibility and the observable consequences of skyrmions as well as Majorana modes are indicated.

Abstract The problem of obesity is getting serious. However, recent studies have shown that obesity is not necessarily harmful to health, thus the concept of metabolically healthy obesity is proposed. So far, no standard definition/criterion had been set up for metabolically healthy obesity. Through searching related literature on metabolically healthy obesity worldwide, different diagnostic criteria were reviewed, and compared with the difference of prevalence as well. The aim of the study is to provide reference for the precise prevention of obesity in China.

Abstract Postoperative delirium (POD) is an acute cognitive dysfunction that is mainly characterized by memory impairment and disturbances in consciousness. POD can prolong the hospital stay and increase the 1-month mortality rate of patients. The overall incidence of POD is approximately 23%, and its prevalence can go up to 50% in high-risk surgeries. Neuroinflammation is an important pathogenic mechanism of POD that mediates microglial activation and leads to synaptic remodeling. Neuroinflammation, as an indispensable pathogenesis of POD, can occur due to a variety of factors, including aseptic inflammation caused by surgery, effects of anesthetic drugs, disruption of the blood-brain barrier, and epigenetics. Understanding these factors and avoiding the occurrence of risk factors may help prevent POD in time. This review provides a brief overview of POD and neuroinflammation and summarizes various factors affecting POD development mediated by neuroinflammation, which may serve as future targets for the prevention and treatment of POD.

Abstract Free flaps have been successfully used in the repair of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), which can reduce amputation rate, maintain normal gait of patients, and improve life quality of patients. However, there are still many challenges in the repair of DFUs with free flaps, and many problems need to be solved. This paper summarizes the selection of patients, preoperative cautions, types of flaps, methods of vascular anastomosis, clinical effects, and existing problems in using free skin flaps for repairing DFUs.
