Abstract This book focuses on the sleep-related disorders in Parkinson's disease (PD), demonstrating that they are among the most common non-motor manifestations of PD and have a significant negative impact on quality of life. Sleep changes may also serve as markers to identify patients in the preclinical stage of PD. This book presents recent major breakthroughs related to sleep disorders in PD, such as REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), insomnia, nocturia, restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movements, sleep disordered breathing, excessive daytime sleepiness, and circadian rhythm disorders. It also discusses the epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, clinical implications, associated features, evaluation and management of these disorders and suggests some further research directions in these areas in order to develop neuroprotective therapies for PD. Focusing on Chinese PD patients, it addresses traditional Chinese Medicine, and compares the epidemiology and management of PD in China and Western countries to provide a frame of reference values for further studies. Further, it features numerous case reports to enable readers gain a better uderstanding of the subject matter. This comprehensive yet practical book is a valuable resource for scientists and clinicians.

Abstract Assouad-Nagata dimension addresses both large and small scale behaviors of metric spaces and is a refinement of Gromov's asymptotic dimension. A metric space $M$ is a minor-closed metric if there exists an (edge-)weighted graph $G$ satisfying a fixed minor-closed property such that the underlying space of $M$ is the vertex-set of $G$, and the metric of $M$ is the distance function in $G$. Minor-closed metrics naturally arise when removing redundant edges of the underlying graphs by using edge-deletion and edge-contraction. In this paper, we determine the Assouad-Nagata dimension of every minor-closed metric. It is a common generalization of known results about the asymptotic dimension of $H$-minor free unweighted graphs and about the Assouad-Nagata dimension of complete Riemannian surfaces with finite Euler genus and their corollaries.

Abstract Image sensors such as single-photon avalanched diode (SPAD) arrays typically adopt in-pixel quenching and readout circuits, and the under-illumination first-stage readout circuits often employs high-threshold input/output (I/O) or thick-oxide metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs). We have observed reliability issues with high-threshold n-channel MOSFETs when they are exposed to strong visible light. The specific stress conditions have been applied to observe the drain current (I

Abstract The genus Paraxantia was recorded to be distributed in south of China, previously including 11 species. After examining numerous specimens of Paraxantia, here, we first propose that the genus Paraxantia could be divided into three species groups, and describe two new species from Himalaya-Hengduan Mountains: P. angustipennis sp. nov. and P. nujiangensis sp. nov.. A key to the species group of Paraxantia, necessary illustrations and life images of Paraxantia species are presented. The distribution of Paraxantia in Himalaya-Hengduan Mountains is discussed and mapped.

Abstract The prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has increased among the general population and chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients worldwide. Although fatty liver disease is a well-known risk factor for adverse liver outcomes like cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, its interactions with the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and clinical impacts seem complex. The presence of hepatic steatosis may suppress HBV viral activity, potentially leading to attenuated liver injury. In contrast, the associated co-morbidities like diabetes mellitus or obesity may increase the risk of developing adverse liver outcomes. These findings implicate that components of MAFLD may have diverse effects on the clinical manifestations of CHB. To this end, a clinical strategy is proposed for managing patients with concurrent CHB and MAFLD. This review article discusses the updated evidence regarding disease prevalence, interactions between steatosis and HBV, clinical impacts, and management strategies, aiming at optimizing holistic health care in the CHB population.

Abstract Over the past decade, controlled supramolecular polymerization has been extensively studied and gradually shifted to supramolecular block copolymerization. Supramolecular block copolymers (BCPs) are considered the holy grail for developing supramolecular materials with new functionalities due to their fascinating structures and ability to introduce diverse functions. From a thermodynamic view to kinetic aspects, great progress has been made in the synthetic strategies of BCPs in the past few years. This Concept summarizes various strategies to realize supramolecular block copolymerization. The focus is on providing researchers with a methodological basis for achieving heterogeneous nucleation-elongation.

Abstract Background: Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection, with extremely high mortality. Notably, sepsis is a heterogeneous syndrome characterized by a vast, multidimensional array of clinical and biologic features, which has hindered advances in the therapeutic field beyond the current standards.
Data sources: We used PubMed to search the subject-related medical literature by searching for the following single and/or combination keywords: sepsis, heterogeneity, personalized treatment, host response, infection, epidemiology, mortality, incidence, age, children, sex, comorbidities, gene susceptibility, infection sites, bacteria, fungi, virus, host response, organ dysfunction and management.
Results: We found that host factors (age, biological sex, comorbidities, and genetics), infection etiology, host response dysregulation and multiple organ dysfunctions can all result in different disease manifestations, progression, and response to treatment, which make it difficult to effectively treat and manage sepsis patients.
Conclusions: Herein, we have summarized contributing factors to sepsis heterogeneity, including host factors, infection etiology, host response dysregulation, and multiple organ dysfunctions, from the key elements of pathogenesis of sepsis. An in-depth understanding of the factors that contribute to the heterogeneity of sepsis will help clinicians understand the complexity of sepsis and enable researchers to conduct more personalized clinical studies for homogenous patients.
