    Abstract An updated catalog of the infraorder Nepomorpha from China is provided based on literature reports, museum specimens, and field collections. In total, 214 species of Nepomorpha are listed in 6 superfamilies, 11 families, and 37 genera, including: Aphelocheiridae (1 genus, 27 species), Belostomatidae (3 genera, 7 species), Corixidae (9 genera, 52 species), Gelastocoridae (1 genus, 3 species), Helotrephidae (5 genera, 25 species), Micronectidae (1 genus, 28 species), Naucoridae (7 genera, 12 species), Nepidae (5 genera, 21 species), Notonectidae (4 genera, 32 species), Ochteridae (1 genus, 2 species) and Pleidae (1 genus, 5 species). Paraplea liturata (Fieber, 1844) is reported from mainland China for the first time. Distribution maps are provided for most species and are based on museum specimens and our field collections.

    Abstract To investigate any potential bidirectional causal relationships between stroke and venous leg ulcers (VLUs), Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses were carried out in this study. The exposure factor was stroke, the outcome factor was VLUs. The two-sample MR study was carried out based on the online analysis platform (http://app.mrbase.org/). The association of stroke and VLUs was analysed via methods of Inverse Variance Weighted (IVW), Weighted Median, MR-Egger and weighted mode. IVW method suggested no association between stroke and VLUs ((β 1.06; SE 9.321; p = 0.9095)). Weighted median estimator (β 5.906; SE 11.99, p = 0.6223), MR-Egger (β -0.8677; SE 21.89; p = 0.9691) and weighted mode (β 9.336; SE 17.77; p = 0.6089) showed consistent results. Conversely, evidence indicating that the presence of VLUs increased the risk of stroke was lacking. According to this MR study, there is no causal connection between stroke and VLUs, which suggests that therapies targeting stroke may not be effective against VLUs.

    Abstract Long non-coding RNA plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) has been reported to be a vital modulator in tumorigenesis of gastric cancer (GC). However, the detailed regulatory mechanism of PVT1 in GC remains largely unclear. In this work, the expressions of PVT1 and microRNA-16 (miR-16) were detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) in GC tissues and cell lines. GC cell lines NCI-N87 and MKN45 cell lines were chosen for the following assays. After PVT1 was overexpressed or depleted, CCK-8 and Transwell assays were performed to examine the cell viability and invasive capacity. Cell cycle was analyzed by flow cytometry. The expression of cyclin D1 (CCND1) at mRNA and protein levels was measured by qRT-PCR and western blot. The competitive endogenous RNA molecular mechanism among PVT1, miR-16 and CCND1 was verified by bioinformatics analysis, luciferase-reporter gene assay and RNA immunoprecipitation assay. In the present study, it was revealed that PVT1 expression was remarkably evaluated in GC tissues and cell lines than that in the corresponding control group. PVT1 positively regulated the proliferation, migration and cell cycle progression of GC cells. Besides, miR-16 was identified as a target of PVT1, and CCND1 was identified as a target of miR-16. The depletion of PVT1 promoted the expression of miR-16 and suppressed CCND1 expression. Moreover, either miR-16 inhibitor or CCND1 overexpression plasmid could reverse the promoting effects of PVT1 on the malignant biological behaviors of GC cells. In conclusion, PVT1 promoted CCND1 expression by negatively regulating miR-16 expression to enhance the viability, invasion and cell cycle progression of GC cells.

    Abstract To explore the chemical components and nutrient components of Xylaria sp. L1 sporocarps, component analysis was characterized using UHPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap-MS/MS. Then, the acute toxicity and the subacute toxicity were conducted, respectively. A total of 38 compounds were detected and quantified. Meanwhile, Xylaria sp. L1 sporocarps had higher quantities of macronutrients, primarily Zn, which was remarkably higher than the human recommended daily values (p < 0.001). Importantly, no evidence of toxicity was observed in the mice after acute exposure to Xylaria sp. L1 sporocarps. In subacute toxicity studies, there were no significant differences in the body and organ weights. In the blood chemistry analysis, no significant changes occurred. Pathologically, neither histopathological changes nor gross abnormalities were observed. Thus, our study highlights the potential for using Xylaria sp. L1 sporocarps as novel food with Zn supplementation for humans.

    Abstract Balancing physical activity and studying is an important issue facing Chinese teenagers. Therefore, numerous studies have found that engaging in physical activity can promote academic performance among students. However, what is the optimal duration of physical activity? This study used data from the China Education Panel Survey, with a sample size of 18,009 valid respondents. General linear regression analysis was conducted using Stata 17 software to evaluate the effects of different durations of physical activity, cognitive ability, and physical Fitness on academic performance among adolescents. Furthermore, the "Bootstrap Mediation" method and the "Maximum Likelihood Estimation" method were used to analyze whether physical health and cognitive ability have significant mediating effects. The present study reveals the following findings: (1) There exists a non-linear relationship between students' academic performance and the duration of physical exercise. The greatest improvement in academic performance is observed when the exercise duration reaches 2 hours. (2) Physical exercise can enhance students' academic performance by promoting physical health and cognitive abilities. (3) Gender heterogeneity is observed, with the optimal exercise duration for male students being 2 hours, while female students exhibit the highest academic performance when exercising for one hour. This study provides theoretical guidance for research on adolescents' participation in physical Activity and improving academic performance, enabling adolescents to engage in physical Activity more scientifically and rationally.

    Abstract Mobile charging devices (MCDs) have been regarded as a promising way to solve the energy shortage of wireless sensor networks. Due to ignoring some important factors, such as redundant sensor nodes, there is still room to improve network lifetimes. We propose a charging strategy for wireless sensor networks with one energy-limited MCD. To give the best support for sensor nodes which need charging the most, an algorithm is proposed to find the minimum sensor nodes which keep the coverage and connectivity of the network and have the least energy requirements. Then, the goal of maximizing network lifetime is changed into how to utilize the limited energy of the MCD to guarantee the minimum sensor nodes work as long as possible. If the MCD has enough energy for all sensor nodes, the charging algorithm is designed to minimize the outage time of the network and maximize charging efficiency. Otherwise, if the energy capacity is larger than the least energy requirement, the charging target minimizes the outage time of the minimum sensor node; otherwise the charging problem becomes maximizing the lifetime of minimum sensor nodes, which has lower complexity. The results of simulation experiments confirm that our scheme prolongs network lifetime and improves charging efficiency.

    Abstract In recent years, the diagnosis and treatment of hemophilic children in China has significantly improved. However, oral health conditions, which affect quality of life, haven't received attention in this population. To explore the oral health status and oral hygiene of children and adolescents with hemophilia in the Children's Hemophilia Comprehensive Care Center of China. Dental and oral hygiene examinations were performed in children and adolescents with hemophilia who visited Beijing Children's Hospital. DMFT/dmft (decayed, missing, filled teeth in permanent and primary teeth) was assessed according to World Health Organization (WHO) criteria. The simplified oral hygiene index (OHI-S) was used to evaluate the oral hygiene condition of the subjects. Questionnaires were completed by their parents. SPSS 21.0 was used for statistical analysis. A total of 114 children and adolescents were enrolled. The caries prevalence was 57.4%, 72.2% and 41.2% in primary, mixed and permanent dentitions respectively. The filling rates were 14.4%, 13.9%, and 11.4%, respectively, and the OHI-S scores of the three dentition groups were 1.49 ± 0.46, 1.57 ± 0.43, and 1.76 ± 0.46, respectively. A total of 103 valid questionnaires were collected. Sixty-nine children (67%) didn't brushed their teeth 2 times a day. Nearly half of the parents knew little about fluoride toothpaste. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that brushing teeth with the help of parents had a significant positive impact on OHI-S.  Conclusion: Dental health was unsatisfactory among hemophilic children and adolescents. The caries filling rates were low. Patients and their parents did not give much attention to oral health. What is Known: • Caries and gingivitis are the two main oral diseases that affect children with hemophilia. • However, the oral health conditions of children and adolescents with hemophilia have not received much attention in China. What is New: • This is the first study concentrating on the dental health of children with hemophilia in China. • Dental health was unsatisfactory among children and adolescents with hemophilia in China.

    Abstract AI for drug discovery has been a research hotspot in recent years, and SMILES-based language models has been increasingly applied in drug molecular design. However, no work has explored whether and how language models understand the chemical spatial structure from 1D sequences. In this work, we pre-train a transformer model on chemical language and fine-tune it toward drug design objectives, and investigate the correspondence between high-frequency SMILES substrings and molecular fragments. The results indicate that language models can understand chemical structures from the perspective of molecular fragments, and the structural knowledge learned through fine-tuning is reflected in the high-frequency SMILES substrings generated by the model.
