    Abstract Background: Postpartum quality of life (QoL) in women with heart disease has been neglected.
    Aim: To improve clinical communication and treatment, we integrated medical data and subjective characteristics to study postpartum QoL concerns.
    Methods: The study assessed QoL 6 wk after birth using the 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaire, European Heart Failure Self-Care Behavior Scale, and a self-designed questionnaire based on earlier research were also used to assess patient characteristics. Patient data were collected. Prediction models were created using multiple linear regression.
    Results: This retrospective study examined postpartum QoL in 105 cardiac patients. Postpartum QoL scores were lower (90.69 ± 13.82) than those of women without heart disease, with physical component scores (41.09 ± 9.91) lower than mental component scores (49.60 ± 14.87). Postpartum depression (33.3%), moderate anxiety (37.14%), pregnancy concerns (57.14%), offspring heart problems (57.14%), and life expectancy worries (48.6%) were all prevalent. Our study emphasizes the need for healthcare workers to recognize the unique characteristics of these women while developing and implementing comprehensive management approaches during their maternity care.

    Abstract The application of surgical robots in neurosurgery has formed a rapidly developing and fascinating new field that is revolutionizing the way neurosurgeries are performed. Herein, we discussed the prospects of the future development of neurosurgery robots. We found that, at present, surgical robots are most widely used in stereotactic surgeries in the field of neurosurgery. The use of surgical robots has greatly improved puncturing precision, but it cannot be used in other types of neurosurgeries.With the highly integrated development of imaging technology, mechanical technology, computer control technology, and artificial intelligence, surgical robotics will inevitably witness a surge of rapid development in line with the trend of contemporary needs. Surgical robotics will be applied to more fields of neurosurgery in the future, enhancing surgical safety and efficiency.

    Abstract Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common and invasive malignant tumors in the world. The change in DNA methylation is a key event in HCC.
    Methods: Methylation datasets for HCC and 17 other types of cancer were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The CpG sites with large differences in methylation between tumor tissues and paracancerous tissues were identified. We used the HCC methylation dataset downloaded from the TCGA as the training set and removed the overlapping sites among all cancer datasets to ensure that only CpG sites specific to HCC remained. Logistic regression analysis was performed to select specific biomarkers that can be used to diagnose HCC, and two datasets-GSE157341 and GSE54503-downloaded from GEO as validation sets were used to validate our model. We also used a Cox regression model to select CpG sites related to patient prognosis.
    Results: We identified 6 HCC-specific methylated CpG sites as biomarkers for HCC diagnosis. In the training set, the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) for the model containing all these sites was 0.971. The AUCs were 0.8802 and 0.9711 for the two validation sets from the GEO database. In addition, 3 other CpG sites were analyzed and used to create a risk scoring model for patient prognosis and survival prediction.
    Conclusions: Through the analysis of HCC methylation datasets from the TCGA and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases, potential biomarkers for HCC diagnosis and prognosis evaluation were ascertained.

    Abstract Development of efficient and inexpensive electrocatalysts for hydrogen production via water electrolysis is of great significance. Up to date, the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is still the efficiency limiting step for overall water splitting. Here, we report a highly efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst of 3D Ni₀.₉Fe₀.₁S:Pi nanoflower arrays for HER and OER enabled by surface-adsorbed phosphate. More importantly, the resulting electrode can also catalyze organic molecules such as ethanol and glycerin to be oxidized to value-added liquid products by replacing OER for hydrogen production. With the presence of glycerol, an electrolyzer assembled using the as-prepared electrode needed an ultralow potential of 1.49 V to drive a current density of 10 mA cm⁻² for efficient hydrogen production. This work sheds light on great promise of integration of oxidative biomass valorization with HER via earth-abundant electrocatalysts for yielding value-added products with lower voltage input and maximizing the energy conversion efficiency.

    Abstract Surface modification can effectively improve the ability of hydrochar to capture pollutants from wastewater. In this work, polyaminophosphonated-functionalized hydrochar (PAP-HC) was successfully synthesized by a chemical grafting approach and applied efficiently to adsorb aqueous Pb(II). Properties of PAP-HC were characterized by ICP, FTIR, XPS, SEM–EDS, elemental analysis, zeta potential, and BET. The Pb(II) adsorbing behavior of PAP-HC was tested by batch adsorbing assays, including the pH impact, uptake kinetics, sorption isotherms, sorption thermodynamics, and PAP-HC recycling. Sorption isotherms were better illustrated by a Langmuir equation, while the kinetic profile was modeled by a pseudo-second-order equation. Adsorption of Pb(II) onto PAP-HC mainly relied on chelating Pb(II) with aminophosphonate groups of PAP-HC by XPS and FTIR analyses. The actual adsorbed amount of PAP-HC maximized to 179.92 mg·g⁻¹ at 298 K, which showed high adsorption ability. Nitric acid and hydroxide solutions were suitable for desorption of adsorbed Pb(II) and activated PAP-HC, respectively. PAP-HC can be reused for at least five cycles without obvious change in adsorption performance. The results suggest PAP-HC is a prospective adsorbent to capture Pb(II) from wastewater.

    Abstract Tissue engineered bone brings hope to the treatment of bone defects, and the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells is the key link. Inducing osteogenic differentiation of stem cells may be a potential approach to promote bone regeneration. In recent years, lncRNA has been studied in the field increasingly, which is believed can regulate cell cycle, proliferation, metastasis, differentiation and immunity, participating in a variety of physiology and pathology processes. At present, it has been confirmed that certain lncRNAs regulate the osteogenesis of stem cells and take part in mediating signaling pathways including Wnt/β-catenin, MAPK, TGF-β/BMP, and Notch pathways. Here, we provided an overview of lncRNA, reviewed its researches in the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells, emphasized the importance of lncRNA in bone regeneration, and focused on the roles of lncRNA in signaling pathways, in order to make adequate preparations for applying lncRNA to bone tissue Engineering, letting it regulate the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells for bone regeneration.

    Abstract A skin wound represents a rupture caused by external damage or the existence of underlying pathological conditions. Sometimes, skin wound healing processes may place a heavy burden on patients, families, and society. Wound healing processes mainly consist of several continuous, dynamic, but overlapping stages, namely, the coagulation stage, inflammation stage, proliferation stage, and remodeling stage. Bacterial infection, excessive inflammation, impaired angiogenesis, and scar formation constitute the four significant factors impeding the recovery efficacy of skin wounds. This encourages scientists to develop multifunctional nanomedicines to meet challenging needs. As we know, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been widely explored for wound repair owing to their unique capability for self-renewal and multipotency. However, problems including immune concerns and legal restrictions should be properly resolved before MSC-based therapeutics are safely and widely used in clinics. Besides, maintaining the high viability/proliferation capability of MSCs during administration processes and therapy procedures is also one of the biggest technical bottlenecks. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell-derived nanovesicles, that not only possess the basic characteristics and functions of their corresponding maternal cells but also contain several outstanding advantages including abundant sources, excellent biocompatibility, and convenient administration routes. Furthermore, the membrane surface and cavity are easy to flexibly modify to meet versatile application needs. Recently, MSC-derived EVs have emerged as promising therapeutics for skin wound repair. However, current reviews are too broad and rarely focused on the specific roles of EVs in the different stages of wound recovery. Therefore, it is quite necessary to demonstrate the significance of stem cell-derived EVs in promoting wound healing from several specific aspects. Here, this review primarily tries to provide critical comments on current advances in EVs derived from MSCs for wound repair, particularly elaborating on their impressive roles in effectively eliminating infections, inhibiting inflammation, promoting angiogenesis, and reducing scar formation. Last but not least, current limitations and future prospects of EVs derived from MSCs in the areas of wound repair are also objectively analyzed.

    Abstract The influence of hydrothermal treatments on the structural properties and digestibility of water caltrop starch was investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed some small dents on the surface of starch granules for samples treated with heat moisture treatment (HMT), but not for samples treated with annealing (ANN) which generally showed smoother surfaces. The gelatinization temperature of starch was generally increased by hydrothermal treatments, accompanied by a trend of decreasing breakdown viscosity. These results implied the improvement of thermal and shearing stability, particularly for HMT in comparison to ANN. After being cooked, the native and ANN-modified water caltrop starch granules were essentially burst or destroyed. On the other hand, the margin of starch granules modified by HMT and dual hydrothermal treatments remained clear with some channels inside the starch granules.
