Abstract Rapid alkalinization factor (RALF) is widespread throughout the plant kingdom and controls many aspects of plant life. Current studies on the regulatory mechanism underlying RALF function mainly focus on Arabidopsis, but little is known about the role of RALF in crop plants. Here, we systematically and comprehensively analyzed the relation between RALF family genes from five important crops and those in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Simultaneously, we summarized the functions of RALFs in controlling growth and developmental behavior using conservative motifs as cues and predicted the regulatory role of RALFs in cereal crops. In conclusion, RALF has considerable application potential in improving crop yields and increasing economic benefits. Using gene editing technology or taking advantage of RALF as a hormone additive are effective way to amplify the role of RALF in crop plants.

Abstract Introduction: Delirium is a common acute brain dysfunction syndrome in patients admitted to intensive care units (ICUs). Family engagement strategies, based on the theory of multi-sensory stimulation to ameliorate sensory deprivation in patients, may be an effective and scalable method to reduce the burden of delirium.
Methods: /design: This is a assessor-blinded, randomised controlled trial of the feasibility of multi-sensory stimulation (MS) in patients with delirium. A total of 72 mechanically ventilated patients (n = 24 in each group) admitted to the ICU will be randomised to routine non-pharmacological delirium care (control), family multi-sensory stimulation and nurse multi-sensory stimulation groups. All participants except the control group will receive multi-sensory stimulation, including visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic stimulation, for 5 days. Our primary aim is to determine the feasibility of the study procedure (recruitment, eligibility, retention and attrition rates, appropriateness of clinical outcome measures), feasibility, acceptability and safety of the intervention (adverse events, satisfaction and other). Our secondary objective is to assess the preliminary efficacy of the MS protocol in reducing the incidence, duration and severity of delirium. Sedation levels and delirium severity will be assessed twice daily. Enrolled participants will be followed in hospital until death, discharge or up to 28 days after treatment.
Ethics and dissemination: The current study was approved by the Ethics Review Board of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Union Shenzhen Hospital, China (KY-2023-031-01). The results of this study will be presented at scientific conferences and submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Title translation Effects of livestock grazing on the C:N:P stoichiometry in global grassland ecosystems: A meta analysis.
Abstract In order to clarify the influence of livestock grazing managements on C:N:P stoichiometry of grassland ecosystem and improve grassland management ability at global scale, 83 Chinese and English papers were selected for meta-analysis in this study. We explored the effects of grazing herbivore assemblage (sheep alone, cattle alone, and mixed cattle and sheep) and grazing intensity (light grazing, moderate grazing and heavy grazing) on leaf, litter, root and soil C, N and P stoichiometry of grassland ecosystems. The results showed that grazing significantly decreased C content, C/N and C/P, and increased N, P content and N/P in leaf and litter. C content, N content, C/P and N/P were significantly reduced, and P content and C/N were increased in root and soil. Leaf and litter stoichiometry were more sensitive to cattle and sheep grazing alone, while root and soil stoichiometry were more sensitive to mixed grazing. Heavy grazing had a greater impact on the stoichiometry of grassland ecosystems. Grazing reduced soil N content and increased P content, indicating that grazing had different pathways of influence on grassland N and P content. Further research on the mechanisms of N and P content changes in response to unbalanced grazing activities and the incorporation of the effects of grazing herbivore assemblage and intensity into models for predicting and managing grassland ecosystems could effectively improve grassland ecosystem management.

Abstract The CRISPR-based gene editing technology has become more and more powerful in genome manipulation for agricultural breeding, with numerous improved toolsets springing up. In recent years, many CRISPR toolsets for gene editing, such as base editors (BEs), CRISPR interference (CRISPRi), CRISPR activation (CRISPRa), and plant epigenetic editors (PEEs), have been developed to clarify gene function and full-level gene regulation. Here, we comprehensively summarize the application and capacity of the different CRISPR toolsets in the study of plant gene expression regulation, highlighting their potential application in gene regulatory networks' analysis. The general problems in CRISPR application and the optimal solutions in the existing schemes for high-throughput gene function analysis are also discussed. The CRISPR toolsets targeting gene manipulation discussed here provide new solutions for further genetic improvement and molecular breeding of crops.

Abstract The construction of active sites with excellent water oxidation activity is of great significance in the design of OER electrocatalysts. Herein, we propose an anion regulation strategy, in which N-doped carbon nanotubes play a protective role by coating the Ni₃Fe alloy particles and two non-metallic elements S and Se are introduced to adjust the electronic structure, this can further help construct a heterogeneous surface, improve the valence state, and increase the hydrophilicity of the catalysts. The two as-prepared catalysts N-CNTs@NiS₂/Fe₇S₈ (overpotential of 330 mV to achieve 50 mA cm⁻² and Tafel slope of 51.49 mV dec⁻¹) and N-CNTs@NiSe₂/Fe₃Se₄ (360 mV and 72.32 mV dec⁻¹, respectively) exhibited considerably high OER activity in 1.0 M KOH solutions.
