Abstract This book covers some fundamental aspects and frontiers in non-equilibrium physics and soft matter research. Apart from the basic knowledge on nonlinear statistic physics, dynamics, computer simulations, and main approaches and emerging systems in soft matter research, particular attention is devoted to new conceptual flexible functional materials and the enriching areas, such as silk meso-molecular materials, molecular gels, liquid crystals, flexible electronics and new types of catalysis, etc. One of the main characteristics of this book is to start with the structure formation dynamics and the correlation between the structures and macroscopic performance. This lays down the foundation for the mesoscopic materials design and functionalization. The book is intended for upper undergraduate students, graduate students, and researchers who are interested in soft matter researches. As one of main references, the basic principles and technologies of computer simulations and experimental methods adopted in soft matter research are also explained. Illustrations and tables are included in this book to improve the readability, and examples and exercises are added to help understanding. .

Abstract Cell therapy includes living cell-based therapy and cell-derivative therapy that is based on extracellular vesicles and bioactive molecules. As a research hotspot in recent years, cell therapy is a potential strategy to solve the clinical problem of refractory wound repair. The rapid development of material science and cell biology has opened a new prelude to cell therapy, and at the same time, puts forward a new proposition on how to further optimize and apply cell therapy to wound repair. This article reviewed the cell types used for wound treatment, summarized the application and exploration of cell therapy-based new technologies, sorted out the difficulties in the clinical application of existing cell therapies, and looked into the future development trend of cell therapy for wound repair, in order to promote the development of innovative cell therapy system and further improve the clinical wound treatment effect.

Abstract A 47-year-old male patient with a history of Takayasu arteritis presented with prominent symptoms of left eyeball fixation, protrusion, and visual loss. Orbital magnetic resonance imaging revealed hyperintensity on diffusion-weighted imaging of the left optic nerve, with corresponding low signal on apparent diffusion coefficient maps, suggestive of acute infarction of the left optic nerve. Combined with the patient's cranial magnetic resonance imaging findings, the diagnosis of cavernous sinus syndrome was established.

Abstract Objective: To detect serum IgA isotype of anti-v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homologue B1 (BRAF) antibody levels in the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients in order to investigate their clinical significance in RA.
Methods: Serum samples were obtained from 61 RA patients, 21 osteoarthritis (OA) patients, 16 systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, 16 gout patients, 16 Sjögren's syndrome (SS) patients and 22 healthy controls. IgA isotype of anti-BRAF antibody levels in the sera were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The associations between IgA isotype of anti-BRAF antibody levels and the clinical features including age, disease duration and laboratory parameters including erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), rheumatoid factor (RF), disease activity score in 28 joints (DAS28), anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibody, immunoglobulin and BRAF protein levels in the RA patients were evaluated. Data analyses were performed by using SPSS 19.0 program.
Results: The serum IgA isotype of anti-BRAF antibody levels in the RA patients were significantly higher than in the SLE, gout, OA patients and healthy controls, the
Conclusion: The elevated level of IgA isotype of anti-BRAF antibody in the RA patients showed that IgA isotype of anti-BRAF antibody might play a role in the pathogenesis of RA. Furthermore, detection of IgA isotype of anti-BRAF antibody in the serum negative RA patients showed that it might be helpful for the diagnosis of the serum negative RA patients.

Abstract Glaucoma is a major irreversible blindness-causing disease. Traditional Chinese Medicine literature have mentioned glaucoma since Qin and Han Dynasties. Progress has been made since 1949, especially in these 50 years. Since 1990, rapid progress has been achieved in the field of glaucoma, including the research of pathogenesis, education, training and establishment of diagnosis and treatment standard for glaucoma. Nowadays, Chinese glaucoma specialists are giving out more and more voice in the international platform. Though the outcome is delightful, we realize that we are still lack of original innovations. After all, the road is still long and rugged, more efforts should be put into the fight against glaucoma.
