Abstract Abstract: Peripheral nerve injury is a common injury disease. Understanding of the mechanisms of periphery nerve repair and regeneration after injury is an essential prerequisite for treating related diseases. Although the biological mechanisms of peripheral nerve injury and regeneration have been studied comprehensively, the clinical treatment methods are still limited. The bottlenecks of the treatments are the shortage of donor nerves and the limited surgical precision. Apart from the knowledge regarding the fundamental characteristics and physical processes of peripheral nerve injury, numerous studies have found that Schwann cells, growth factors, and extracellular matrix are main factors affecting the repair and regeneration process of injured nerves. At present, the therapeutical methods of the disease include microsurgery, autologous nerve transplantation, allograft nerve transplantation and tissue engineering technology. Tissue engineering technology, which combines seed cells, neurotrophic factors, and scaffold materials together, is promising for treating the patients with long-gapped and large nerve damage. With the development of neuron science and technology, the treatment of peripheral nerve injury diseases will continue being improved.

Abstract Knowledge of organic compounds adsorption by adsorbents is essential for evaluating the environmental fates of organic compounds and removing them from the environment. Linear adsorption, as a supplement to the traditionally nonlinear adsorption, was previously proposed for the linear sorption of organic compounds on the mesoporous surface of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in multi-solute system. However, CNTs are not the ideal adsorbent to verify the linear adsorption mechanism, because of their partition-like phase components such as mobile graphene layers that could be responsible for the linear sorption through linear partition mechanism instead, and thus the linear adsorption theory was argued. In this study, therefore, mesoporous activated carbon (MAC), widely accepted as the model free of partition phase components, was selected as an adsorbent to investigate the adsorption of typical organic compounds in the bi-solute system for verifying whether the linear adsorption phenomenon existed or not. The isotherm of nitrobenzene on MAC was changed from nonlinear to linear with 4-nitrophenol up to 1400 mg/L, and the linear isotherm slope decreased more as 4-nitrophenol concentration increased until 4000 mg/L. It agreed with the characteristics of adsorption (i.e., competition) but not partition (i.e., noncompetition), confirming the existence of linear adsorption. The isotherm linearity was attributed to the reduction of adsorption interactions by displacement and multilayer adsorption. Moreover, linear adsorption of apolar compounds on MAC could occur with apolar or polar competitors, while for polar compounds, linear adsorption could occur with only polar competitors. The observed linear sorption and the competition of organic compounds in the bi-solute system on MAC free of partition phase components verified that the linear adsorption existed, which gives a new insight into the adsorption theory for organic compounds. The results could provide better fundamental theory of adsorption for improving the accuracy of environmental risk assessment of organic pollution and enhancing the efficiency of organic pollution control in the environment.

Abstract To promote sustainable intensification and provide guidance for decisionmakers, we must understand the potential for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions in greenhouse cultivation. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the greenhouse gas emission mitigation potential of agricultural plastic greenhouses in China using a combination of life cycle assessment, data envelopment analysis, and scenario analysis. We found that: (1) In China, the mean mitigation potential for greenhouse gas emission intensity related to the crop production inputs of agricultural plastic greenhouses is 1.67 kt CO

Abstract Peripheral nerve injury disease is a prevalent traumatic condition in current medical practice. Despite the present treatment approaches, encompassing surgical sutures, autologous nerve or allograft nerve transplantation, tissue engineering techniques, and others, an effective clinical treatment method still needs to be discovered. Exploring novel treatment methods to improve peripheral nerve regeneration requires more effort in investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved. Many factors are associated with the regeneration of injured peripheral nerves, including the cross-sectional area of the injured nerve, the length of the nerve gap defect, and various cellular and molecular factors such as Schwann cells, inflammation factors, kinases, and growth factors. As crucial mediators of cellular communication, kinases exert regulatory control over numerous signaling cascades, thereby participating in various vital biological processes, including peripheral nerve regeneration after nerve injury. In this review, we examined diverse kinase classifications, distinct nerve injury types, and the intricate mechanisms involved in peripheral nerve regeneration. Then we stressed the significance of kinases in regulating autophagy, inflammatory response, apoptosis, cell cycle, oxidative processes, and other aspects in establishing conductive microenvironments for nerve tissue regeneration. Finally, we briefly discussed the functional roles of kinases in different types of cells involved in peripheral nerve regeneration.

Abstract The rapid development of the use of agricultural plastic greenhouses in China in recent years has played an important role in the generation of economic benefits from agriculture. However, it has also led to severe negative environmental impacts. Thus, it is necessary to explore the spatial and temporal evolution of agricultural plastic greenhouses in China as well as their environmental impacts so as to obtain a deeper understanding of agricultural intensification and the sustainable development of the facility agriculture industry. To this end, this study analyzed the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of agricultural plastic greenhouses and their greenhouse gas emissions within the 2000–2020 period based on the extraction of the spatial distribution of greenhouses in China in 2000, 2010, and 2020. Landsat imagery and statistical data combined with the random forest classification method as well as life cycle analysis, were used in this study. The results obtained showed that: (1) Within the 2000–2020 period, the area covered by agricultural plastic greenhouses in China expanded from 1594.66 to 11,838.77 km², with most of the greenhouses predominantly distributed in the North China Plain. (2) The increase in total greenhouse gas emissions between 2000 and 2010 was mainly due to the expansion of agricultural plastic greenhouse and an increase in agricultural material inputs, whereas the increase between 2010 and 2020 was mainly due to the expansion of agricultural plastic greenhouse. (3) Greenhouse gas emissions from nitrogenous fertilizers and greenhouse construction materials accounted for 45 % and 36 % of the total greenhouse gas emissions, respectively. These findings are of great significance as they enhance understanding regarding land intensification development and its accompanying environmental impacts in China.
