Abstract China's technology is developing rapidly, and the number of patent applications has surged. Therefore, there is an urgent need for technical managers and researchers that how to apply computer technology to conduct in-depth mining and analysis of lots of Chinese patent documents to efficiently use patent information, perform technological innovation and avoid R&D risks. Automatic term extraction is the basis of patent mining and analysis, but many existing approaches focus on extracting domain terms in English, which are difficult to extend to Chinese due to the distinctions between Chinese and English languages. At the same time, some common Chinese technical terminology extraction methods focus on the high-frequency characteristics, while technical domain correlation characteristic and the unithood feature of terminology are given less attention. Aiming at these problems, this paper proposes a Chinese technical terminology method based on DC-value and information entropy to achieve automatic extraction of technical terminology in Chinese patents. The empirical results show that the presented algorithm can effectively extract the technical terminology in Chinese patent literatures and has a better performance than the C-value method, the log-likelihood ratio method and the mutual information method, which has theoretical significance and practical application value.

Abstract The rapid pace of urbanization in China has led to a significant increase in haze pollution in its cities. However, there has been limited research on the dynamic impact and mechanisms of smart city pilots, which offer an innovative approach to urbanization, on haze pollution. This study selects panel data from 283 prefecture-level cities in China from 2007 to 2017 and uses a quasi-experimental approach based on the three batches of pilot construction of smart cities since 2012 to examine the impact of smart city pilots on haze pollution. The multi-phase difference-in-differences (DID) model is used for the analysis. The findings reveal: (1) Smart city pilots have a significant positive effect on reducing urban haze pollution. (2) Smart city pilots contribute to changes in the urban development model, where technological innovation, industrial structure adjustment, and resource allocation optimization under innovation-driven development significantly mitigate haze pollution. (3) Heterogeneity analysis shows regional differences in the effectiveness of smart city pilot policies in reducing haze pollution in China, with a decreasing trend from the eastern to the western regions. The haze-reducing effect of smart city pilots in the central region has yet to be observed. This research provides valuable theoretical and policy insights for improving urban ecological environments and promoting green transformations of production and lifestyle.

Abstract Medical cabins within negative-pressure ambulances currently only use the front air supply, which causes poor emission of infectious disease droplets. For this problem, based on the classification and design methods of airflow organization, the side and top supply airflow organization model has been designed to study the influence of these airflow organization models on the spread of droplet particles. The distribution of droplet particles within airflow organization models, under conditions in which the patient is coughing and sneezing, is analyzed. According to the comparison and analysis of this distribution, the state of droplet particles, the emission efficiency, and the security coefficient are studied. The response surface method is used to optimize the emission efficiency and security coefficient of the airflow organization. According to the characteristics of the medical cabin within negative-pressure ambulances, a dose-response model is used to evaluate the infection risk of medical personnel and then the infection probability is obtained. These research results can be used to improve the ability of negative-pressure ambulances to prevent cross-infection.

Abstract Dynamic risk assessment is a pivotal tool for enhancing construction safety and minimizing the potential for partial failure during deep and extensive excavation projects. To enhance the efficacy of dynamic risk assessment in deep excavation, this study introduces a novel risk assessment model designed to evaluate instability risk in extensive excavations. It comprises a risk factor selection model for identifying the most pertinent factors and an instability risk assessment model for gauging the extent of instability risk throughout the construction process. Then, the model was deployed in the construction of Anshan Road Station of the Qingdao Metro. To pinpoint the factors with the most pronounced impact on excavation instability, a risk factor selection model was employed, yielding a comprehensive risk evaluation index system. For real-time assessment of risk, the monitoring data were used as the primary source of evidence. A comprehensive comparative analysis involving actual data and predictions from conventional RBF and back propagation neural networks was performed. The outcome of this analysis underscored the superior accuracy and predictive capabilities of the assessment model. The instability risk assessment model offers the ability to dynamically evaluate the instability risk associated with extensive excavations featuring a combination of soil and rock. It can serve as a valuable methodological tool, furnishing essential support for the systematic prevention and mitigation of excavation instability disasters.

Abstract Flourishing indicates one’s emotional status and functioning level and is essential for adolescents’ further development. Adolescents’ social media use has been rising, with various potential effects on their development. Therefore, in this study, we shifted the emphasis from a traditional deficit-based approach to a strength-based approach by exploring how social comparison and social media usage influence Chinese adolescents’ flourishing. Altogether, 786 Chinese adolescents aged 12–19 years completed a self-report questionnaire. The results indicate that (1) both social media social comparison of ability (SCA) and social media social comparison of opinion (SCO) have no significant effect on Chinese adolescents’ flourishing; (2) integration into social routine has a positive indirect effect on the relationship between social media social comparison and flourishing; and (3) social integration and emotional connection negatively affect the relationship between social media social comparison and flourishing. These findings highlight the interaction between social media social comparison and social media usage. Furthermore, the results of this study clarify that the potentially harmful effect of social media usage on adolescents’ flourishing is not determined by the frequency or time spent on using social media, but how much adolescents are connected to or invested in social media.

Abstract The uncertainty of high technology has determined the high-risk character of high-tech projects. Thus, it is of great importance to effectively avoid the risk of high-tech projects by thoroughly analyzing projects' methodologies and fully understanding the technology prospect risk of projects in the feasibility study phase. This study proposes a systematic research framework to identify and analyze the technology prospect risk of projects based on patent analysis. Thus, text mining technology and principal component analysis are used to improve the traditional patent map method and construct a technology prospect risk map. Moreover, patent value evaluation and correlation analysis methods are combined to identify technology potential areas and calculate the value of technology prospect risk. At the same time, an empirical study is conducted with project cases in the field of optical communications, and the technology prospect risk situations of these projects are ascertained through qualitative and quantitative methods. The study is innovative and practical and offers a better combination of analysis methods for current technology development and specific projects.
