    Abstract Abstract The occurrence of systemic inflammatory response after percutaneous transhepatic gallbladder drainage brings great risks to patients and is one of the challenges faced by clinicians. Therefore, it is of great significance to find a suitable prediction method for clinicians to intervene early and reduce the transformation of serious complications. Easy-to-obtain and objectively measured clinical features were screened, and logistic regression was used to construct a prediction model. The predictive ability of the model was evaluated by using the receiver operating characteristic curve and the decision curve in the validation set and the training set, respectively. Nine clinical features (CRP, Fever, DBIL, Obstruction, Bile properties, PCT, Length, Width, and Volume factor) were used to construct the prediction model, and the validation results showed that the prediction model had good performance in the training set (AUC = 0.83) and the validation set (AUC = 0.81). The decision curve also showed that the predictive ability of the model incorporating nine clinical features is better than that of a single clinical feature. The model we constructed can accurately predict the occurrence of SIRS, which can guide clinicians to take treatment measures and avoid the deterioration of complications.

    Abstract Aiming at the problem of insufficient endurance performance of flapping wing aircraft, a stable attitude control algorithm based on energy optimization and ESO (extended state observer) is designed, which effectively reduces the energy consumption in cruise phase. Firstly, the longitudinal dynamic model of flapping wing aircraft is established, and then the uncertain part of the system and various unknown external disturbances are taken as the total disturbance. ESO module is introduced to observe and track the total disturbance in real time. Therefore, the system is transformed into a series integral system through the total disturbance feedback, and then the energy optimal control law is designed on the base of the transformed system. The numerical simulation results show that, compared with the traditional PID control method, the designed energy optimal control method reduces the average energy consumption by 35.28%.

    Abstract With the assumption of sufficient labeled data, deep learning based machinery fault diagnosis methods show effectiveness. However, in real-industrial scenarios, it is costly to label the data, and unlabeled data is underutilized. Therefore, this paper proposes a semi-supervised fault diagnosis method called Bidirectional Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network with Gradient Penalty (BiWGAN-GP). First, by unsupervised pre-training, the proposed method takes full advantage of a large amount of unlabeled data and can extract features from vibration signals effectively. Then, using only a few labeled data to conduct supervised fine-tuning, the model can perform an accurate fault diagnosis. Additionally, Wasserstein distance is used to improve the stability of the model’s training procedure. Validation is performed on the bearing and gearbox fault datasets with limited labeled data. The results show that the proposed method can achieve 99.42% and 91.97% of diagnosis accuracy on the bearing and gear dataset, respectively, when the size of the training set is only 10% of the testing set.

    Abstract Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common causes of anovulatory infertility. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has many advantages in treating PCOS. We conducted a retrospective cohort study to investigate the effects of CHM (Bu-Shen-Tian-Jing Formula, BSTJF) on the outcomes of IVF in Chinese patients with PCOS and the potential underlying mechanism. Methods: A total of 111 patients with PCOS who undergone IVF between November 2009 and July 2018 were included. Fifty-four patients received a three-month BSTJF therapy before controlled ovarian hyperstimulation, while the other 57 patients didn't. The data of the PCOS patients was collected. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), growth differentiation factor-8 (GDF-8) levels in the follicular fluid were evaluated. Results: BSTJF helped patients with PCOS to get more retrieved oocytes (P<0.05) and fertilized oocytes (P<0.05). The clinical cumulative pregnancy rate, live birth rate, and term delivery rate were significantly higher in the same stimulated cycle of the PCOS patients with BSTJF treatment (P<0.05). No significant differences existed between the two groups in the rate of fertilization, hospitalization rate of ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome and obstetrical or neonatal complications. BSTJF significantly decreased the AMH levels in the follicular fluids (P<0.05). Conclusion: BSTJF significantly may improve the outcomes of IVF in Chinese patients with PCOS through decreasing AMH levels in follicular fluids. However, the evidence is limited due to the small sample size and the several potential bias.

    Abstract Motion artifacts deteriorate the quality of magnetic resonance (MR) images. This study proposes a new method to detect phase-encoding (PE) lines corrupted by motion and remove motion artifacts in MR images. 67 cases containing 8710 slices of axial T2-weighted images from the IXI public dataset were split into three datasets, i.e., training (50 cases/6500 slices), validation (5/650), and test (12/1560) sets. First, motion-corrupted k-spaces and images were simulated using a pseudo-random sampling order and random motion tracks. A convolutional neural network (CNN) model was trained to filter the motion-corrupted images. Then, the k-space of the filtered image was compared with the motion-corrupted k-space line-by-line, to detect the PE lines affected by motion. Finally, the unaffected PE lines were used to reconstruct the final image using compressed sensing (CS). For the simulated images with 35%, 40%, 45%, and 50% unaffected PE lines, the mean peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNRs) of resulting images (mean±standard deviation) were 36.129±3.678, 38.646±3.526, 40.426±3.223, and 41.510±3.167, respectively, and the mean structural similarity (SSIMs) were 0.950±0.046, 0.964±0.035, 0.975±0.025, and 0.979±0.023, respectively. For images with more than 35% PE lines unaffected by motion, images reconstructed with proposed algorithm exhibited better quality than those images reconstructed with CS using 35% under-sampled data (PSNR 37.678±3.261, SSIM 0.964±0.028). It was proved that deep learning and k-space analysis can detect the k-space PE lines affected by motion and CS can be used to reconstruct images from unaffected data, effectively alleviating the motion artifacts.

    Abstract Two polymorphic FeII coordination polymers [FeIIL (TPPE)0.5] 1) and [(FeII3L3 (TPPE)1.5)] 2), were obtained from a redox-active tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) functionalized ligand [H2L = 2,2’-(((2-(4,5-bis-(methylthio)-1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)benzo(d) (1,3) dithiole-5,6-diyl)bis-(azanediyl))bis-(meth anylylidene)) (2E,2E')-bis(3-oxobutanoate)] and a highly luminescent connector {TPPE = 1,1,2,2-tetrakis[4-(pyridine-4-yl)phenyl]-ethene}. Complex 1 has a layered structure where the TPPE uses its four diverging pyridines from the TPPE ligand are coordinated by the trans positions to the flat TTF Schiff-base ligand, and complex 2 has an unprecedented catenation of layers within two interpenetrated frameworks. These coordination polymers reserved the redox activity of the TTF unit. Complex 1 shows gradual spin transition behavior without hysteresis. And the fluorescence intensity of TPPE in 1 changes in tandem with the spin crossover (SCO) transition indicating a possible interplay between fluorescence and SCO behavior.

    Abstract Plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.) is one of the most widely cultivated and important fruit trees in temperate and cold regions. Fruit color is a significant trait relating to fruit quality in plum. However, its development mechanism has not been studied from the aspects of transcriptional regulation and metabolomic progress. To reveal the mechanism of fruit color developments in plums, we selected the fruits of two plum cultivars, ‘Changli84’ (Ch84, red fruit) and ‘Dahuangganhe’ (D, yellow fruit) as plant materials for transcriptome sequencing and metabolomic analysis were performed. Based on the data of transcriptome and metabolome at three fruit developmental stages, young fruit stage, color-change stage, and maturation stage, we identified 2,492 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and 54 differential metabolites (DMs). The KEGG analysis indicated that “Flavonoid biosynthesis” was significantly enriched during three fruit development stages. Some DEGs in the “Flavonoid biosynthesis” pathway, had opposite trends between Ch84 and D, including chalcone synthase (CHS), dihydroflavonol 4-reductase (DFR) and flavonol synthase (FLS). Also, the genes encoding MYB–bHLH–WD (MBW) protein complexes, especially MYBs and bHLHs, showed a close relationship with plum fruit color. In the current study, DMs like procyanidin B1, cyanidin 3-glucoside, and cyanidin-3-O-alpha-arabinopyranoside were key pigments (or precursors), while the carotene and carotenoids did not show key relationships with fruit color. In conclusion, the anthocyanins dominate the color change of plum fruit. Carotenes and carotenoids might be related to the color of plum fruit, but do not play a dominate role.

    Abstract Mulberry extract has been proven to have the effect of resisting alcohol damage, but its mechanism is still unclear. In this study, the composition of mulberry ethanol extract (MBE) was identified by LC-MS/MS and the main components of MBE were ascertained by measuring. Gastric mucosal epithelial (GES-1) cells were used to elucidate the mechanism of MBE and rutin (the central part of MBE) helped protect against alcohol damage. The results revealed that phenolics accounted for the majority of MBE, accounting for 308.6 mg/g gallic acid equivalents and 108 substances were identified, including 37 flavonoids and 50 non-flavonoids. The treatment of 400 μg/mL MBE and 320 μM rutin reduced early cell apoptosis and the content of intracellular reactive oxygen species, malondialdehyde and increased glutathione. The qPCR results indicated that the MBE inhibits the expression of genes in the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, including p38, JNK, ERK and caspase-3; rutin inhibits the expression of p38 and caspase-3. Overall, MBE was able to reduce the oxidative stress of GES-1 cells and regulated apoptosis-related genes of the MAPK pathway. This study provides information for developing anti-ethanol injury drugs or functional foods.
