    Abstract Decarbonisation of the transport sector is essential to mitigate anthropogenic climate change. Microbial metabolisms are already integral to the production of renewable, sustainable fuels and, building on that foundation, are being re-engineered to generate the advanced biofuels that will maintain mobility of people and goods during the energy transition. This review surveys the range of natural and engineered microbial systems for advanced biofuels production and summarises some of the techno-economic challenges associated with their implementation at industrial scales.

    Abstract Background: Near miss medication events are pervasive without patient harm, mostly because of coincidence. Dynamic clinical environments challenge nurse compliance with medication administration rights and proper use of electronic technology.
    Problem: All nurses are educated in appropriate medication management, but our unit's barcoded medication administration scanning and electronic patient identification practices fell below the 97% benchmarks, representing hundreds of near miss medication events each month.
    Approach: Transformative leadership guided frontline staff to identify gaps in care processes and determined root causes for unsanctioned medication administration practices using a FOCUS (Find-Organize-Clarify-Understand-Select)-PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) methodology.
    Outcomes: An interdisciplinary team committed to zero events of preventable harm overcame challenges to improve care delivery. Medication management scores exceeded organizational benchmarks, with sustainable gains over 2 years.
    Conclusions: A rapid-cycle, evidence-based approach engaged staff to reduce near miss medication events. Workable solutions driven by transparent communication and interpersonal collaboration influenced positive safety behaviors.

    Abstract Exposure to work-related stressors is associated with poor physical and mental health outcomes for workers. The role of chronic stressors on health outcomes has been explored, but less is known about the potential role of exposure to day-to-day stressors on health. This paper describes the protocol for a study that aims to collect and analyze day-to-day data on work-related stressors and health outcomes. Participants will be workers engaged in predominantly sedentary work at a university. Self-report data on work-related stressors, musculoskeletal pain, and mental health will be collected three times per day for 10 work days through ecological momentary assessment via online questionnaires. These data will be combined with physiological data collected continuously via a wristband throughout the working day. The feasibility and acceptability of the protocol will be assessed via semi-structured interviews with participants and adherence to the study protocol. These data will inform the feasibility of using the protocol in a larger study to investigate the relationship between exposure to work-related stressors and health outcomes.

    Abstract Studies have reported that men's uptake of sexual health services is low, that these services make them feel vulnerable, and that they experience sexual healthcare (SHC) as stressful, heteronormative, potentially sexualised and "tailored for women". They also suggest that healthcare professionals (HCPs) working in SHC view masculinity as problematic, and situated in private relationships. This study aimed to explore how HCPs construct the gendered social location in SHC, specifically in terms of masculinity and a perception that masculinity is situated in relationships. Critical Discourse Analysis was used to analyse transcripts from seven focus group interviews with 35 HCPs working with men's sexual health in Sweden. The study found that gendered social locations were discursively constructed in four ways: (I) by problematising and opposing masculinity in society; (II) through discursive strategies where a professional discourse on men and masculinity is lacking; (III) by constructing SHC as a feminine arena where masculinity is a visible norm violation; (IV) by constructing men as reluctant patients and formulating a mission to change masculinity. The discourses of HCPs constructed the gendered social location of masculinity in society as incompatible with SHC, and saw masculinity in SHC as a violation of feminine norms. Men seeking SHC were constructed as reluctant patients, and HCPs were seen as agents of change with a mission to transform masculinity. The discourses of HCPs risk othering men in SHC, which could prevent care on equal terms. A shared professional discourse on masculinity could create a common foundation for a more consistent, knowledge-based approach to masculinity and men's sexual health in SHC.
