Abstract We show a new PRG construction fooling depth-$d$, size-$m$ $\mathsf{AC}^0$ circuits within error $\varepsilon$, which has seed length $O(\log^{d-1}(m)\log(m/\varepsilon)\log\log(m))$. Our PRG improves on previous work (Trevisan and Xue 2013, Servedio and Tan 2019, Kelley 2021) from various aspects. It has optimal dependence on $\frac{1}{\varepsilon}$ and is only one ``$\log\log(m)$'' away from the lower bound barrier. For the case of $d=2$, the seed length tightly matches the best-known PRG for CNFs (De et al. 2010, Tal 2017). There are two technical ingredients behind our new result; both of them might be of independent interest. First, we use a partitioning-based approach to construct PRGs based on restriction lemmas for $\mathsf{AC}^0$, which follows and extends the seminal work of (Ajtai and Wigderson 1989). Second, improving and extending prior works (Trevisan and Xue 2013, Servedio and Tan 2019, Kelley 2021), we prove a full derandomization of the powerful multi-switching lemma for a family of DNFs (H{\aa}stad 2014).

Abstract Microstructure reconstruction serves as a crucial foundation for establishing process-structure-property (PSP) relationship in material design. Confronting the limitations of variational autoencoder and generative adversarial network within generative models, this study adopted the denoising diffusion probabilistic model (DDPM) to learn the probability distribution of high-dimensional raw data and successfully reconstructed the microstructures of various composite materials, such as inclusion materials, spinodal decomposition materials, chessboard materials, fractal noise materials, and so on. The quality of generated microstructure was evaluated using quantitative measures like spatial correlation functions and Fourier descriptor. On this basis, this study also achieved the regulation of microstructure randomness and the generation of gradient materials through continuous interpolation in latent space using denoising diffusion implicit model (DDIM). Furthermore, the two-dimensional microstructure reconstruction was extended to three-dimensional framework and integrated permeability as a feature encoding embedding. This enables the conditional generation of three-dimensional microstructures for random porous materials within a defined permeability range. The permeabilities of these generated microstructures were further validated through the application of the lattice Boltzmann method. The above methods provide new ideas and references for material reverse design.

Abstract The detection rate of multifocal / multicentric breast cancer (MMBC) is increasing, and the local treatment of MMBC is attracting more attention. Relevant research focuses on the selection of surgical methods, the application of radiotherapy, and the feasibility of local ablation. Currently, due to the high rate of local recurrence in breast conserving surgery, most Chinese doctors recommend mastectomy to patients with MMBC. Recent studies have shown that with the development of imaging technology, surgical techniques, accurate judgment of the resection margin, the emergence of new therapeutic drugs and the improvement of the accuracy of radiotherapy, for eligible patients with MMBC, breast conserving surgery did not increase the local recurrence rate while ensuring negative margin and cosmetic results. Whether patients with MMBC must receive adjuvant radiotherapy after mastectomy is controversial, with some evidence suggesting that MMBC may increase the risk of local recurrence and should be an important consideration for radiotherapy, and there is also evidence that the local recurrence rate of MMBC was higher regardless of the type of surgery. In general, the local treatment modality for MMBC is essentially the same as that for unifocal breast cancer, but more prospective studies are needed for further evaluation.

Abstract An interactive mechanism is an algorithm that stores a data set and answers adaptively chosen queries to it. The mechanism is called differentially private, if any adversary cannot distinguish whether a specific individual is in the data set by interacting with the mechanism. We study composition properties of differential privacy in concurrent compositions. In this setting, an adversary interacts with k interactive mechanisms in parallel and can interleave its queries to the mechanisms arbitrarily. Previously, [Vadhan and Wang, TCC 2021] proved an optimal concurrent composition theorem for pure-differential privacy. We significantly generalize and extend their results. Namely, we prove optimal parallel composition properties for several major notions of differential privacy in the literature, including approximate DP, R\'enyi DP, and zero-concentrated DP. Our results demonstrate that the adversary gains no advantage by interleaving its queries to independently running mechanisms. Hence, interactivity is a feature that differential privacy grants us for free.

Abstract In order to develop a universal method for the co-production of furfural and hydrogen from raw lignocellulosic biomass, three types of substrates (maple wood, wheat straw, and tall fescue) were investigated, integrating chemical and electrochemical technologies. The results show both furfural and pure hydrogen were produced from all the biomass substrates, and the substrate type, composition, concentration, and size all affected furfural and hydrogen production. The highest furfural production of 154 mg g⁻¹ substrate was achieved from wheat straw. The highest conversion rate of 67% for the waste furfural residue was realized, and 335 ml pure hydrogen per gram of furfural residue with a Faradaic efficiency of 99.3% was obtained with a new electrolytic cell. A reaction mechanism for hydrogen evolution from furfural residue and a rule for co-production of furfural and hydrogen from raw biomass were proposed. The facts show that a promising universal method for the co-production of furfural and hydrogen from lignocellulosic biomass has been developed.

Abstract Although work engagement as a positive organizational behavior has gained considerable achievements in recent years, there is still a lack of content research based on certain culture, job, and group characteristics. This study conducts a grounded theory research on work engagement by coding and analyzing the interview files from public servants working in the government located in Eastern China. The result shows a five-dimension construct of work engagement, which includes loyalty to the work, commitment to the working relationships, positive emotion, initiative action, and priority for mixed roles. Additionally, the current study also constructs a theoretical model which discovers the dynamic variables motivating the process of work engagement and the influence of Confucianism.

Abstract Dermatomyositis (DM) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by proximal muscle weakness and distinct cutaneous features. Unfortunately, infection is a frequent and potentially life-threatening complication in patients with DM. Here, we present a case of pyomyositis in a patient with DM resulting from localized cellulitis. The patient also presented with subcutaneous calcification nodules and dermatomyositis-associated lipodermatosclerosis nodules. To our knowledge, there have been no reports of pyomyositis in patients with DM to date. Furthermore, we reviewed the infectious complications related to DM and polymyositis (PM). We found that idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) patients exhibit a considerable infection-related mortality rate, ranging from 4.3% to 7.2%. In IIM, infections were identified as the primary cause of mortality in a substantial proportion of cases, accounting for 22.0-83.3% of deaths. These findings have implications for the importance of identifying and managing infections in IIM patients and suggest the need for further research into infection-related complications in these patients.

Abstract Ostraceous psoriasis is a rare variant of psoriasis, characterized by severe hyperkeratotic lesions resembling an oyster shell. Adalimumab is a biological agent that antagonizes tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and is used clinically in plaque psoriasis. Some medications such as lithium carbonate (LC) may aggravate or trigger psoriasis. Here, we describe a case of generalized ostraceous psoriasis associated with lithium carbonate, whose lesions completely improved after discontinuing lithium carbonate and using adalimumab.
