Abstract We investigated the effect of higher order dispersion on ultrafast photoionisation with Classical Trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) method for hydrogen and krypton atoms. In our calculations we used linearly polarised ultrashort 7 fs laser pulses, [Formula: see text] intensity, and a central wavelength of 800 nm. Our results show that electrons with the highest kinetic energies are obtained with transform limited (TL) pulses. The shaping of the pulses with negative second- third- or fourth- order dispersion results in higher ionisation yield and electron energies compared to pulses shaped with positive dispersion values. We have also investigated how the Carrier Envelope Phase (CEP) dependence of the ionisation is infuenced by dispersion. We calculated the left-right asymmetry as a function of energy and CEP for sodium atoms employing pulses of 4.5 fs, 800 nm central wavelength, and [Formula: see text] intensity. We found that the left-right asymmetry is more pronounced for pulses shaped with positive Group Delay Dispersion (GDD). It was also found that shaping a pulse with increasing amounts of GDD in absolute value blurs the CEP dependence, which is attributed to the increasing number of optical cycles.

Abstract We address the problem of testing the quantumness of two-dimensional systems in the prepare-and-measure (PM) scenario, using a large number of preparations and a large number of measurement settings, with binary outcome measurements. In this scenario, we introduce constants, which we relate to the Grothendieck constant of order 3. We associate them with the white noise resistance of the prepared qubits and to the critical detection efficiency of the measurements performed. Large-scale numerical tools are used to bound the constants. This allows us to obtain new bounds on the minimum detection efficiency that a setup with 70 preparations and 70 measurement settings can tolerate.

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the critical efficiency of detectors to observe Bell nonlocality using multiple copies of the maximally entangled two-qubit state carried by a single pair of particles, such as hyperentangled states, and the product of Pauli measurements. It is known that in a Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) Bell test the symmetric detection efficiency of $82.84\%$ can be tolerated for the two-qubit maximally entangled state. We beat this enigmatic threshold by entangling two particles with multiple degrees of freedom. The obtained upper bounds of the symmetric detection efficiency thresholds are $80.86\%$, $73.99\%$ and $69.29\%$ for two, three and four copies of the two-qubit maximally entangled state, respectively. The number of measurements and outcomes in the respective cases are 4, 8 and 16. To find the improved thresholds, we use large-scale convex optimization tools, which allows us to significantly go beyond state-of-the-art results. The proof is exact up to three copies, while for four copies it is due to reliable numerical computations. Specifically, we used linear programming to obtain the two-copy threshold and the corresponding Bell inequality, and convex optimization based on Gilbert's algorithm for three and four copies of the two-qubit state. We show analytically that the symmetric detection efficiency threshold decays exponentially with the number of copies of the two-qubit state. Our techniques can also be applied to more general Bell nonlocality scenarios with more than two parties.

Abstract A tanulmányt megalapozó kutatás egy speciális adottságokkal rendelkező turisztikai régióban (Balaton régió) folyt.

Abstract The advent of intense terahertz (THz) sources opened a new era when the demonstration of the acceleration and manipulation of free electrons by THz pulses became within reach. THz-field-driven electron emission was predicted to be confined to a single burst due to the single-cycle waveform. Here we demonstrate the confinement of single-cycle THz-waveform-driven electron emission to one of the two half cycles from a solid surface emitter. Either the leading or the trailing half cycle was active, controlled by reversing the field polarity. THz-driven single-burst surface electron emission sources, which do not rely on field-enhancement structures, will impact the development of THz-powered electron acceleration and manipulation devices, all-THz compact electron sources, THz waveguides and telecommunication, THz-field-based measurement techniques and solid-state devices.

Abstract A Balaton vízminőségének, a tó állapotának romlása több tényezőre visszave-zethető, hosszú folyamat eredménye. A 80-as évek elején a feladatok meghatározásakor a tó vizének tápanyag feldúsulásáért a me-zőgazdaságot kiáltották ki fő felelősnek. The deterioration of the water quality of lake Balaton and its environment is the consequence of numerous factors and a long process. The assessment of the role of some factors, a problem even in these days due to the absence of systematic and comprehensive measurements covering all aspects of pollution, is partially guesstimated. Nevertheless, the question recurs time and time again which branch of agriculture is primarily responsible. At beginning of 1980’s when objectives were defined agriculture was claimed to be the main guilty party for introducing excessive nutrients into the lake water. However, expert investigations have unequivocally proven that at most only 3% to 5% of active agents in the lake derived from artificial fertilizers. This amount could not in itself have caused the rapid deterioration of water quality. Those who blamed agriculture alone for the deterioration of Balaton water did not take into consideration the fact that the use of agricultural chemicals in the water catchments area of the lake was not high in international comparison, whereas the level of public utilities (sewers) in the area and the extent of burden deriving from these in the case of lake Balaton constituted an extremely unfavorable picture. Furthermore, the agricultural hypothesis for the deterioration of lake water would not stand either because during the last decade due to continued crisis in agriculture the use of chemicals in crop production declined to a minimum level. Nevertheless, the conditions that prevent the leakage of agricultural pollutants into live waters have to be investigated. The present situation arose not because of lack of planning, but because the funds required for the execution of plans are not available and interest for their execution has not been successfully generated. It was not even possible to achieve that a significant portion of locally produced income remained in the region for helping its development. We should not be amazed at the quality of lake water, if in regions where the sewers were actually built, owners of apartments and holiday resorts could not be persuaded to connect their disposal pipes to the main sewer or owners of lake shore property could not be prevented enlarging their plot by filling up part of lake. The fulfillment of requirements of environmental and nature protection can only be expected of agricultural enterprises possessing modern equipment and sufficient income. Under the present economic conditions, however, only a small fraction of enterprises are able to do achieve this. For farms struggling for survival soil, environmental and nature protection is a tertiary problem that seems more like an economic hindrance rather than a factor helping the development of enterprise. We can hope for successful environmental protection only if economic and environmental requirements are closely related.

Abstract Background: The aim of the study was to assess the awareness of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients about CRC screening methods and to investigate the relationship between awareness, socio-demographic characteristics and the stage in which patients with CRC are diagnosed.
Methods: The observational cross-sectional study included 275 CRC patients admitted between 2014 and 2016 to two surgical clinics from Tîrgu Mureş, Romania. Study variables were collected via face-to-face interview and from patients' observation sheets.
Results: Only 41.5% of the patients heard about cancer screening and 6.5% about specific CRC screening methods. Mass-media was the major source of information (85.1%) followed to a much lesser extent (14.9%) by family, friends, and colleagues. Health professionals did not contribute at all to informing patients about screening methods. Awareness about screening methods was statistically associated with the patients' residence, age, and educational achievement, but not with the stage of CRC.
Conclusion: The level of awareness of CRC screening methods was very low among the CRC patients included in the study but it could not predict the stage in which malignancy was diagnosed, suggesting that awareness alone is not enough to bring patients to undergo early CDC screening procedures.

Abstract Left sided gallbladder is a rare anomaly that is often associated with other abnormal anatomy in the hepatobiliary system. One left positioned gallbladder was found in a consecutive series of 3290 patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstone disease in the Mure County Emergency Hospital’s 2nd Surgery Clinic between 2005 and 2015, a prevalence of 0.03 per cent. In case of left sided gallbladder the cystic artery always crosses in front of the common bile duct from right to left. The cystic duct may open on the left or right side of the common hepatic duct. Anterograde cholecystectomy is the best choice for precise exploration of the cystic duct and cystic artery.
