    Abstract Background: No Place Like Home is a clinical interprofessional education (IPE) activity whereby pharmacy and medical students conduct home visits under the guidance and supervision of a clinical preceptor to homebound patients. Purpose: We examined pharmacy and medical student perceptions of mastery of interprofessional competencies during an in-person clinical home visit pre-COVID-19 pandemic versus a virtual IPE learning activity consisting of didactic and case discussions in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: We administered the same modified Interprofessional Collaborative Competency Attainment Survey (ICCAS) instrument, which uses a five-point Likert scale, to both the in-person and the virtual IPE students following their learning activity. Results: We received a total of 459 completed survey responses with an overall response rate of 84%. For both groups of students, the in-person format was preferred, however, to our surprise, the results indicated that students in the virtual group reported greater perceived gain in interprofessional skills than students in the in-person group. In addition, pharmacy students perceived greater gain from the interprofessional activity and offered more thoughtful reflections about their experience. Conclusions: Even though both groups of students preferred the in-person visit, the IPE objectives were equally (for medical students) or better (for pharmacy students) absorbed in the virtual environment than the in-person clinical home visit.

    Abstract Una multiplicidad de efectos de violación del sabor leptónico relacionados con el reciente descubrimiento de oscilaciones y mezclas de los neutrinos son discutidos aquí en términos de una simetría permutacional S3 del sabor. Después de presentar algunos resultados relevantes acerca de masas y mezclas de leptones, derivados anteriormente en una extensión mínima S3 -invariante del Modelo Estándar, calculamos las tasas de ramificación de algunos procesos que cambian el sabor leptónico (FCNC) así como la contribución debida al intercambio de escalares neutros que cambian el sabor a la anomalía del momento magnético del muón. Encontramos que la extensión mínima S3-invariante del Modelo Estándar describe con éxito masas y mezclas, los procesos que ocurren por intercambio de corrientes neutras que violan el sabor en excelente acuerdo con los experimentos.

    Abstract Este trabajo trata del rompimiento de la simetría de norma y las condiciones de estabilidad del vacío de una extensión mínima invariante de S3 del Modelo Estándar. En la teoría hay tres bosones de Higgs que son dobletes de SU (2)L y que pertenecen a las representaciones de singlete y doblete del grupo de sabor S3. Encontramos que, como función de los valores de expectación del vacío (vev) de los doce campos reales de Higgs, el potencial de Higgs tiene tres tipos de mínimo: un mínimo normal, un mínimo que rompe la carga eléctrica (CB) y uno que viola CP (CPB), dependiendo de los valores de los vev de los campos de Higgs H1, H2 y H S. Suponiendo que el vev diferente cero del doblete de Higgs en la representación de singlete de S3 es real, obtenemos que el mínimo más profundo es el mínimo normal. Esta condición corresponde al mínimo de Pakvasa-Sugawara en el cual obtenemos una simetría S2 residual. Esta característica simplifica la estructura, y por lo tanto, el cálculo de las matrices de masas de los Higgs. Presentamos algunos resultados en el espectro de masas de los bosones de Higgs en la teoría.

    Abstract Después de hacer una breve reseña de algunos resultados relevantes sobre masas y mezclas leptónicas, previamente derivadas en el marco de la Extensión Mínima S3 -Invariante del Modelo Estándar, hemos derivado expresiones analíticas explícitas para las matrices de los acoplamientos de Yukawa y hemos calculados las razones de ramificación (branching ratios) de algunos procesos que violan el sabor como funciones o de las masas de los leptones cargados y las masas de los bosones de Higgs neutros. Encontramos que la simetría del sabor S3 × Z2 y la jerarquía pronunciada en las masas de los leptones cargados suprimen fuertemente los procesos que violan el sabor en el sector leptonico de manera tal que están varios ordenes de magnitud por debajo de las cotas superiores experimentales mas recientes.

    Abstract Las matrices de masas de los leptones cargados y los neutrinos, que previamente habíamos obtenido en una extensión Mínima S3-invariante del Modelo Standard, se reparametrizan en términos de las masas de los leptones cargados y los neutrinos. A partir de aquí, se calcula la matriz de mezclas de los neutrinos, VPMNS, y se obtienen expresiones analíticas, explícitas y exactas para los ángulos de mezcla y las fases de Majorana como función de las masas de los leptones cargados y los neutrinos. Por comparación con los datos experimentales sobre mezclas de neutrinos, obtenemos valores numéricos de las masas de los neutrinos en buen acuerdo con las cotas experimentales extraídas de las medidas de la desintegración beta, la desintegración doble beta sin neutrinos y las observaciones cosmológicas de precisión.

    Abstract Plants are fundamental elements of the human diet, either as direct sources of nutrients or indirectly as feed for animals. During the past few years, the main goal of agriculture has been to increase yield in order to provide the food that is needed by a growing world population. As important as yield, but commonly forgotten in conventional agriculture, is to keep and, if it is possible, to increase the phytochemical content due to their health implications. Nowadays, it is necessary to go beyond this, reconciling yield and phytochemicals that, at first glance, might seem in conflict. This can be accomplished through reviewing food requirements, plant consumption with health implications, and farming methods. The aim of this work is to show how both yield and phytochemicals converge into a new vision of agricultural management in a framework of integrated agricultural practices.

    Abstract In order to design rural roads, it is necessary to know the elastic behaviour of the soil. Such information can be obtained through repeated load triaxial testing, but this test is demanding, complicated and expensive, and not available in many laboratories. A novel method presented by a Dutch investigation is being verified in Mendel University that allows calculating the elastic modulus by using the elastic deformation measured in repeated load CBR test. After verifying the test with a constant depth, nowadays the test with a constant stress is being analysed and the first results are presented in this article.

    Abstract Toxoplasma gondii proliferates and organizes within a parasitophorous vacuole in rosettes around a residual body and is surrounded by a membranous nanotubular network whose function remains unclear. Here, we characterized structure and function of the residual body in intracellular tachyzoites of the RH strain. Our data showed the residual body as a body limited by a membrane formed during proliferation of tachyzoites probably through the secretion of components and a pinching event of the membrane at the posterior end. It contributes in the intravacuolar parasite organization by the membrane connection between the tachyzoites posterior end and the residual body membrane to give place to the rosette conformation. Radial distribution of parasites in rosettes favors an efficient exteriorization. Absence of the network and presence of atypical residual bodies in a ΔGRA2-HXGPRT knock-out mutant affected the intravacuolar organization of tachyzoites and their exteriorization.
