Abstract [Objective] Green finance can play an important role in guiding the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises. This study aimed to analyze the inherent logic of the impact of green finance on manufacturing enterprises’ green transformation based on theoretical analysis and empirical testing, in order to provide useful references for enhancing the ability of the financial sector to serve the real economy and promoting high-quality economic development. [Methods] Based on the matching samples of China’s industrial enterprise database and industrial enterprise pollution database, this study examined the impact of green finance on the green transformation behavior of manufacturing industry at the micro level. [Results] The study found that: (1) Green finance can significantly reduce the intensity of energy consumption and pollution emissions of enterprises, driving the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises; (2) Easing financing constraints and improving technological innovation level are important channels for green finance to affect the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises. These two positive effects will further drive the overall scale expansion of enterprises and local emission reduction governance; (3) The promotion effect of green finance exhibits asymmetric characteristics for different sub-samples, with greater green transformation effects on enterprises in heavily polluting industries, capital intensive and small and medium-sized enterprises, eastern regions, and non-resource-based regions; (4) Under reasonable financial and environmental regulations, the synergistic promotion effect of green finance on the green transformation of manufacturing enterprises is more obvious. [Conclusion] This study confirmed the key role played by green finance in the process of green transformation of manufacturing enterprises, and also found that activating the inherent advantages of green finance is more conducive to green transformation promotion of enterprises from multiple internal ...

Abstract Environmental protection is a shared task among nations. In pursuit of its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, China has implemented more robust energy-saving targets. This study utilizes panel data from 288 Chinese cities spanning from 2006 to 2020 to examine the policy effects of energy-saving targets on carbon neutrality. The findings reveal that (1) energy-saving targets positively impact carbon substitution, resulting in reduced carbon emissions and facilitating the progress towards carbon neutrality through three primary channels: energy governance, energy production, and energy consumption. (2) The influence of energy-saving targets on carbon neutrality exhibits a significant spatial spillover effect, driven primarily by the reduction in carbon emissions, although the spatial spillover effect of carbon substitution is relatively limited. The collaboration between the government and enterprises plays a crucial role in achieving carbon neutrality, while the engagement of the general public is yet to be fully realized. (3) However, the inadequacy of enhancing carbon neutrality through energy-saving targets lies in the compulsory emissions reduction behavior at the expense of sacrificing some economic benefits in cities that overachieve energy-saving targets. This undermines the coordinated development of ecology and economy. Therefore, it is recommended to establish a policy implementation monitoring system to ensure the scientific basis of policy objectives, enhance the level of green technology innovation, accelerate the digital transformation of enterprises, and establish a synergistic mechanism that involves multiple stakeholders.

Abstract In order to realize the real-time and accurate prediction of dissolved oxygen concentration in the sewage treatment process, a prediction model of dissolved oxygen concentration in the sewage treatment process based on a data identification algorithm was proposed. Combined with the data characteristics of the sewage treatment process, a new sample similarity measure is defined to extract more representative modeling data. In the improved algorithm, in order to improve the quality of the initial members of the basic fireworks algorithm, the chaos algorithm is integrated. The search mechanism of the basic fireworks algorithm is improved, and the optimization process is divided into two stages based on the set criteria, and two groups are used simultaneously. The results show that compared with the basic FWA algorithm, the CFWA algorithm makes better use of the chaotic search mechanism. On the one hand, it avoids the excessive random or blind selection of the initial weight threshold of the neural network in the initial stage; on the other hand, in the optimization process of the weight threshold, two types of search mechanisms, FWA and COA, are used to give full play to their respective strengths and to continuously conduct information exchange and mutual cooperation between groups and individuals. The number of times is better than the basic FWA algorithm, and the training error and generalization error of the CFWA model in the simulation results of the soft sensor model are also better than those of the FWA model, which fully verifies the effectiveness of the CFWA algorithm. It is proved that the data recognition algorithm can effectively predict sewage treatment. It is proved that the data recognition algorithm can effectively predict the dissolved oxygen concentration in wastewater treatment process. It provides a new measurement method for some key process variables that cannot be measured or are difficult to measure in complex chemical processes.

Abstract [Objective] Accelerating the construction of low-carbon energy system and efficient industrial system is the key to converting driving force of China’s economic growth and constructing green and low-carbon circular economic development system. [Methods] This paper decomposes the carbon emission effect through the Kaya identity, meanwhile, it takes several policy objectives in the different provinces’ development plans as constraints and uses the multi-objective planning model to analyze the characteristics of the local energy structure, industrial structure, carbon dioxide emissions, etc. [Results] The results show that under the current energy structure and industrial structure, it is difficult to keep a balance between economic growth and energy-conservation and emission-reduction,through interregional energy allocation and industrial transfer, the emission reduction potential is greater under the synergistic optimization strategy, which is 780.829×106 tons; Energy structure, energy intensity, industrial structure and economic development level will significantly affect the carbon dioxide emissions of different provinces and energy intensity is the dominant factor affecting carbon emissions at this stage. The industrial transference has two sides, while adjusting the industrial structure in different regions, industrial transfer may lead to the increase of carbon dioxide emission in the regions where industrial transfer in, attention should be paid to the level raise of carbon dioxide emissions that lead by industry transfer; With sufficient energy allocation and industrial transfer, the GDP of 30 provinces increases significantly, with growth rates of 7.98% on average. Meanwhile, the economic structure of these provinces is further optimized, and the industrial development highlights the regional characteristics, breaking the dilemma of industrial isomorphism between regions to a certain extent. [Conclusion] By considering the carbon emission effect of regional differentiated development strategy under the ...

Abstract In estuary, bacteria are critically vital to ecosystem function and sustainability. However, the effect of geographic distance and its related factors (i.e., salinity and nutrients) on bacterial diversity, co-occurrence, as well as community assembly on the abundant and rare species scale remained to be discussed. In this study, we deciphered the bacterial dynamics and ecological processes in the anthropogenic estuary of the Haihe River, in China. The results revealed that salinity was the major abiotic factor to shape bacterial community composition, diversity, and network complexity, and the role of biotic cytometric characteristics was considerable as well. Furthermore, the salinity gradient tended to select bacteria with low nucleic acid (LNA) such as Candidatus Pelagibacter and Longivirga, and abundant bacteria were more sensitive to the salinity gradient in comparison with rare ones. The similar keystone number and network topology values indicated that both abundant and rare bacteria played important ecological functions in degrading pollutants, developing co-occurrence networks, and maintaining compositional stability and complexity. In addition, drift and dispersion limitation dominated the ecological processes in the community assembly, suggesting that although salinity caused the migration of species, its ecological role was still weaker than that of stochastic processes. Further, niche differentiation contributed to different stochastic components of abundant and rare species. In high-salinity areas, rare bacteria with small population sizes but high diversity were enriched, which made the bacterial community more affected by ecological drift. Our study illustrated the different responses of abundant and rare bacteria to salinity and the assembly process of bacterial communities in anthropogenic estuary, deepening the understanding of their ecological processes in the estuarine ecosystem.

Abstract This study investigated whether chemerin/chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1) pathway participate in cisplatin-induced spiral ganglion neuron (SGN) damage. Middle cochlear turn was collected from C57BL/6 mice and the SGNs were cultured. Cisplatin, 2-(anaphthoyl) ethyltrimethylammonium iodide (α-NETA), or recombinant mouse chemerin was added into the medium for the treatment. Relative mRNA and protein expression was determined by RT-PCR, ELISA and Western blot, respectively. In cultured mouse cochlear SGNs, the treatment of cisplatin enhanced the secretion of chemerin and CMKLR1. Recombinant chemerin promoted but α-NETA inhibited chemerin/CMKLR1 pathway in cisplatin stimulated SGNs. Cisplatin-induced apoptosis and inflammation response in SGNs were enhanced by recombinant chemerin while inhibited by α-NETA. Recombinant chemerin promoted but α-NETA inhibited NF-κB signal in cisplatin stimulated SGNs. In conclusion, chemerin/CMKLR1 pathway regulated apoptosis and inflammation response in cisplatin-induced SGN injury through NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract Background: Brown adipose tissue (BAT) has emerged as a potential therapeutic target for metabolic disorders due to its thermogenic and anti-obesity properties. β3-adrenergic receptor (β3-AR) agonists have also gained attention as potential agents for BAT activation and metabolic regulation. Mirabegron, a selective β3-AR-agonist used clinically for overactive bladder syndrome, has been explored for its utility in metabolic disorders. However, the controversy surrounding the ability of mirabegron to activate BAT to accelerate metabolism requires further investigation. The aim of this systematic review is to characterize comprehensively the impact of mirabegron on human BAT and its metabolism.
Methods: We searched PubMed Central, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases for relevant papers published from the date of database inception to March 2023 for systematic reviews and meta-analyses. We extracted data on primary outcome indicators such as BAT volume, BAT activity, body temperature, and resting energy expenditure (REE), as well as secondary outcome indicators such as heart rate (HR), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), systolic blood pressure (SBP), non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), blood glucose, and blood insulin from relevant studies. For studies that did not provide suitable data for meta-analysis, we used narrative data synthesis. For studies that provided suitable data for meta-analysis, we conducted meta-analysis using RevMan 5.4 software.
    Results: We reviewed 10 papers and included 6 in our meta-analysis. Our findings revealed no significant changes in BAT volume (p = 0.72) or blood glucose (p = 0.52) with mirabegron when compared to the placebo or pre-dose population. However, patients showed significant increases in BAT activity (p < 0.01), blood NEFA (p < 0.01), body temperature (p < 0.01), REE (p < 0.01), HR (p < 0.01), DBP (p < 0.01), SBP (p = 0.25), and blood insulin (p < 0.01).
Conclusion: Through our meta-analysis of 6 papers, we found that mirabegron has the potential to increase human BAT activity, REE, NEFA content, body temperature, HR, blood pressure, and blood insulin content. These effects may lead to reductions in blood glucose levels in obese/overweight and diabetic patients. Additionally, the activation of BAT by mirabegron could represent a novel approach for treating obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
