Abstract Background: Preceptorship has been found to be effective in supporting Newly Qualified Nurses (NQNs) during their transition into challenging environments, particularly in addressing issues related to confidence and anxiety. Effective preceptorship is an element of best practice and essential to support NQNs' transition into the critical care setting. However, the impact of preceptorship on NQNs and their preceptors in critical care units is yet to be completely understood.
Aim: To review the impact of preceptorship on NQNs and preceptors working in a critical care environment.
Study design: An integrative literature review of the literature. The review employed Whittemore and Knafl's (2005) five-stage integrative review approach.
Methods: Three databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycINFO) were searched for papers published between January 2010 and May 2022. The PRISMA framework was used to guide the search and screening. Thematic analysis was used to extract, organize and analyse the data.
Results: Nine studies were included in this review. Reflective thematic analysis revealed three themes, with four related subthemes. Preceptorship has an impact on the development of the NQNs and preceptors' 'nurturing' relationship. NQNs develop their knowledge, competence and confidence when experiencing supportive preceptorship. Meanwhile, preceptors experience a combination of increased workload and opportunities for learning and professional development as a result of preceptorship.
Conclusion: There is evidence of the impact of preceptorship on learning and professional development for both NQNs and preceptors, but this is a complex phenomenon and further research is required to understand this area more fully.
Relevance to clinical practice: In nursing practice, it is well-established that Newly Qualified Nurses (NQNs) often face heightened levels of anxiety and a lack of confidence when embarking on their careers, particularly in the demanding and stressful environment of critical care units. This review holds particular significance in the realm of clinical practice as it delves into the pivotal role of preceptorship in nurturing the professional growth and development of NQNs within the challenging domain of critical care. Effective preceptorship, as an essential component of best practice, plays a pivotal role in aiding NQNs' transition into critical care settings.

Abstract Fiscal multipliers depend on several structural characteristics of each economy. In this study it is argued that labor income tax progressivity lowers the fiscal multipliers of fiscal consolidation programs. By calibrating an incomplete‑ markets, overlapping generations model for the United States for different values of the labor income tax progressivity, it is shown that as progressivity increases the recessionary impacts of fiscal consolidation are lower in the case of consolidation through decrease of government spending and are more recessionary in the case of consolidation financed with tax hikes.

Abstract Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive disease with poor prognosis. This is due to the fact that most cases are only diagnosed at an advanced and palliative disease stage, and there is a high incidence of therapy resistance. Despite ongoing efforts, to date, the mechanisms underlying PDAC oncogenesis and its poor responses to treatment are still largely unclear. As the study of the microbiome in cancer progresses, growing evidence suggests that bacteria or fungi might be key players both in PDAC oncogenesis as well as in its resistance to chemo- and immunotherapy, for instance through modulation of the tumor microenvironment and reshaping of the host immune response. Here, we review how the microbiota exerts these effects directly or indirectly via microbial-derived metabolites. Finally, we further discuss the potential of modulating the microbiota composition as a therapy in PDAC.

Abstract Objective: to examine the nursing team's view of the repercussions of moving patients (admissions, transfers and discharges) on the organization of work and the delivery of care.
Method: this is a qualitative study using the focus group technique, conducted with 23 professionals - 12 nurses, eight nurse technicians and three nurse assistants working in three inpatient units at a teaching hospital in the countryside of Sao Paulo. Four meetings took place between November 2021 and March 2022. The reports were analyzed thematically using MAXQDA software.
Results: two thematic categories emerged: the influence of structural factors and work organization on the intra-hospital moving of patients; it demands time, generates work overload and interferes with the delivery of care.
Conclusion: the volume of moving patient associated with unforeseen demands, care complexity and insufficient staff and resources have a negative impact on the delivery of care, with clinical risks and work overload. The findings make it possible to improve the regulation of patients entering and leaving the units, work organization and care management, avoiding clinical risks, delays, omissions and work overload.
Background: (1) Moving patients around the hospital requires structure and work organization.
Background: (2) Nursing estimates dedicating 10-15 minutes to 2-3 hours of work on these interventions.
Background: (3) Frequency, unpredictability and complexity of care have a negative impact on care.
Background: (4) Unfavorable conditions for moving generate care and occupational risks.

Abstract In this work, we share the dataset collected during the Smart Green Homes (SGH) project. The project’s goal was to develop integrated products and technology solutions for households, as well as to improve the standards of comfort and user satisfaction. This was to be achieved while improving household energy efficiency and reducing the usage of gaseous pollutants, in response to the planet’s sustainability issues. One of the tasks executed within the project was the collection of data from volunteers’ homes, including environmental information and the level of comfort as perceived by the volunteers themselves. While used in the original project, the resulting dataset contains valuable information that could not be explored at the time. We now share this dataset with the community, which can be used for various scenarios. These may include heating appliance optimisation, presence detection and environmental prediction.

Abstract This work aimed to estimate the genetic diversity in accessions of Opuntia ficus-indica collected in 13 regions of the semiarid region of Bahia. A total of 65 accessions were evaluated in a randomized complete block design, with three replications, at the Rio Seco experimental station belonging to the State University of Feira de Santana, Amélia Rodrigues-BA. Characterization of the accessions was made through the evaluation of 17 descriptors, namely 11 agronomic and six bromatological. The average Euclidean distance was used to estimate the genetic diversity among accessions. The shortest distances were obtained for accessions from the same collection site while the largest were observed in accessions 54 and 62 (10.32 DE) and 63 and 3 (10.22 DE). The analysis of canonical variables indicated cladodes total number (CTN), plant width (PW), CL, plant height (PH), ether extract (EE), and dry weight (DW) for discard as they presented the lowest contribution of the data set variation. Principal component analysis and K-means method were used to establish the clusters, and the formation of four groups was indicated. The first two principal components captured 52.5% of the total variation present in accessions. The descriptors with the greatest contribution to the variation observed in O. ficus-indica were total cladode photosynthetic area (TCPA), cladode area (CA), and cladodes width (CW). There is divergence between cactus forage accessions collected in the semiarid region of Bahia. This information will allow the use of these materials for the formation of segregating populations in the genetic improvement program of the State University of Feira de Santana. The accessions of groups III and IV should be explored by the forage cactus breeding program, as they presented greater productive potential.

Abstract The Circular Economy (CE) has been on the agenda of the Brussels Capital Region (BCR) as means of combining sustainability and economic goals like fixating productive activities in the region and job creation. This paper draws on six cases in the agro-food sector to explore how the CE is inserted in the socio-spatial, economic, cultural, financial and institutional fabric of the region. We find that the CE comprises a plurality of practices, which promises multiple avenues for CE expansion. We recommend attending to this variegation, as policies seek coalitions between the Region, firms with diverging business models and missions, and community- based initiatives in different areas. We also identify the need to value “circular jobs” and recommend heightened sensitivity to urban circular economies beyond (1) those centered on middle/ high income consumer markets, and/or (2) those fueling property market value rise.

Abstract Introduction: The Indigenous population of the Yanomami ethnic group in Brazil is currently facing a public health emergency due to the high number of deaths, mainly of children. Taking that into consideration, this study aims to analyze this crisis impact on the health of this population in the period between 2018 and 2022.
Methods: The data presented were collected from the report called Yanomami Mission ("Missão Yanomami") published by the Brazilian Ministry of Health and, from it, a descriptive analysis of the Indigenous individuals' health was carried out for (i) the geographical distribution; ii) the number of deaths; (iii) the child death rate; (iv) the deaths of Indigenous individuals from preventable causes; (v) the causes of preventable diseases related to hygiene and basic sanitation, and the distribution of diarrheal diseases according to age groups; (vi) evaluation of the nutritional classification; vii) the percentage (%) of the complete vaccination scheme, and (viii) the coverage of prenatal appointments of Indigenous pregnant women.
Results: The report included 31,017 individuals belonging to the Yanomami ethnic group, most of the participants were up to 39 years old (N = 26,377; 85.0%) and men (N = 15,836; 51.1%). During the period described in the report, the number of deaths reached 1285/31,017 (4.1%). When analyzing the deaths, the most representative age groups were those of children under 1 year old (505/1285; 39.9%), from 1 to 4 years old (178/1285; 13.8%), and the elderly from 60 to 79 years old (150/1285; 11.6%). The Indigenous individuals from this ethnic group presented a child death rate ~ 1.5 to 3.5 higher than that of the total Indigenous population in the country. Regarding the child death rate, the neonatal component represented 57.8% of the deaths and, in 2022, 93.0% of the pregnant women had less than six prenatal appointments. This population shows a high number of deaths due to preventable causes (N = 538) and cases of illnesses associated with hygiene and sanitation, for example (N = 35,103 cases/notifications). As for vaccination, the full vaccination scheme targeting children below 5 years old has not been met since 2018.
Conclusion: In the Indigenous population of the Yanomami ethnic group, a high number of deaths was observed, which affected mainly individuals under 1 year old. Among the factors associated with the deaths, mainly in children under 5 years old, most cases have preventable causes, which could be reduced by proper action promoting their health and preventing diseases.

Abstract We described the characteristics of 18 patients with coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 and X-linked disorders in a cohort of 2,066,678 Brazilian patients hospitalized due to COVID-19. The patients were diagnosed with Hemophilia B (one patient), Klinefelter syndrome [eight patients- three deaths occurred, one unrelated to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection], and Turner syndrome (nine patients- two patients died). Half of the patients with X-linked disorders and COVID-19 (9/18) were male, the age varied from 1 to 71 years, and most patients were White (9/12; six patients had missing data). The most common symptoms were cough (13/17; one patient had missing data) and fever (12/16; two patients had missing data), whereas the most common comorbidities were diabetes mellitus (3/11; seven patients had missing data) and cardiopathy (2/12; six patients had missing data). Nearly half of the patients needed intensive care unit (8/17; one patient had missing data), and a quarter required invasive mechanical ventilation (4/16; two patients had missing data). Our study accounted for a total of five deaths, one unrelated to COVID-19. There may be several reasons for the low number of X-linked patients found in our data, such as limited access to genetic diagnosis tools causing underdiagnosis and a lack of knowledge by health professionals to identify the necessity of a genetic diagnosis or even forgetting to fill in the Brazilian database for hospitalization due to severe acute respiratory syndrome.
