Abstract Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterised by generalized microangiopathy and fibrosis of skin and internal organs. The 2013 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) / European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) criteria have contributed considerably to classifying patients with SSc in earlier stages, but they still lack sensitivity for a very early stage of the disease. Criteria for a very early diagnosis of SSc (VEDOSS) have been proposed by EULAR Scleroderma Trial and Research group (EUSTAR) which include three red flags: Raynaud's phenomenon, puffy fingers and antinuclear antibody positivity, plus SSc specific antibodies positivity and/or abnormal nailfold capillaroscopy. We report a case of a 54-year-old female patient with 6-week history of puffy fingers, Raynaud phenomenon and positive antinuclear antibodies. Further workup revealed early pathologic capillary pattern by nailfold capillaroscopy and positive anticentromere antibodies. Screening for internal organ involvement detected no heart, lung, or upper gastrointestinal tract involvement. The patient was started on pentoxifylline with further follow-up. The aim of the implementation of VEDOSS criteria is to diagnose SSc at the earliest possible stage, so that subclinical internal organ involvement could be detected and appropriate treatment started at a potentially reversible stage.

Abstract The transition from paediatric care to adult care is often difficult, especially in children with chronic diseases like asthma. A significant number of children reach remission throughout puberty; consequently, they are not tracked down for subsequent follow-ups and are not included in transition programmes to adult care. This case report focuses on a young adult with asthma that began in childhood and went into remission during adolescence, only to experience a recurrence when the patient was a young adult. Due to failing to complete the transition process into adult care services, she had poor adherence to therapy and asthma control.Adherence and asthma control significantly improved after a multidisciplinary approach in an adult care setting. In conclusion, appropriate transition and a multidisciplinary approach are critical for the effective management of asthma in young adults.

Abstract Autonomous manipulation systems operating in domains where human intervention is difficult or impossible (e.g., underwater, extraterrestrial or hazardous environments) require a high degree of robustness to sensing and communication failures. Crucially, motion planning and control algorithms require a stream of accurate joint angle data provided by joint encoders, the failure of which may result in an unrecoverable loss of functionality. In this paper, we present a novel method for retrieving the joint angles of a robot manipulator using only a single RGB image of its current configuration, opening up an avenue for recovering system functionality when conventional proprioceptive sensing is unavailable. Our approach, based on a distance-geometric representation of the configuration space, exploits the knowledge of a robot's kinematic model with the goal of training a shallow neural network that performs a 2D-to-3D regression of distances associated with detected structural keypoints. It is shown that the resulting Euclidean distance matrix uniquely corresponds to the observed configuration, where joint angles can be recovered via multidimensional scaling and a simple inverse kinematics procedure. We evaluate the performance of our approach on real RGB images of a Franka Emika Panda manipulator, showing that the proposed method is efficient and exhibits solid generalization ability. Furthermore, we show that our method can be easily combined with a dense refinement technique to obtain superior results.

Abstract Learning-based monocular depth estimation leverages geometric priors present in the training data to enable metric depth perception from a single image, a traditionally ill-posed problem. However, these priors are often specific to a particular domain, leading to limited generalization performance on unseen data. Apart from the well studied environmental domain gap, monocular depth estimation is also sensitive to the domain gap induced by varying camera parameters, an aspect that is often overlooked in current state-of-the-art approaches. This issue is particularly evident in autonomous driving scenarios, where datasets are typically collected with a single vehicle-camera setup, leading to a bias in the training data due to a fixed perspective geometry. In this paper, we challenge this trend and introduce GenDepth, a novel model capable of performing metric depth estimation for arbitrary vehicle-camera setups. To address the lack of data with sufficiently diverse camera parameters, we first create a bespoke synthetic dataset collected with different vehicle-camera systems. Then, we design GenDepth to simultaneously optimize two objectives: (i) equivariance to the camera parameter variations on synthetic data, (ii) transferring the learned equivariance to real-world environmental features using a single real-world dataset with a fixed vehicle-camera system. To achieve this, we propose a novel embedding of camera parameters as the ground plane depth and present a novel architecture that integrates these embeddings with adversarial domain alignment. We validate GenDepth on several autonomous driving datasets, demonstrating its state-of-the-art generalization capability for different vehicle-camera systems.

Abstract Alpha-gal syndrome is an immunoglobulin E-mediated hypersensitivity characterized by delayed allergic reactions to ingested products containing alpha-gal carbohydrate. We present a patient with recurrent urticaria and suspected repaglinide hypersensitivity, who was eventually diagnosed with alpha-gal syndrome, wanting to emphasize possible drug allergy misdiagnosis and required caution with the medication choice.

Abstract Objectives: to investigate the difference in serum tryptase levels between post-acute COVID-19 syndrome (PACS) patients and controls.
Background: PACS has been defined as symptoms that persist for more than 3 months after the onset of COVID-19. The pathogenesis is still unknown, but mast cell activation has been proposed as one of the mechanisms, and increased serum tryptase levels have been demonstrated in PACS patients.
Methods: A total number of 133 patients were included: 50 with PACS, 37 asymptomatic COVID-19 convalescents, and 46 controls with a negative history of COVID-19. Serum tryptase levels were determined in all participants.
Results: There was no significant difference in serum levels of tryptase among the groups.
Conclusion: the role of mast cell activation in PACS remains unclear and further research is needed to fill the gaps in understanding the pathogenesis of this complex and heterogeneous disorder (Tab. 2, Ref. 17). Abstract The World Trade Organization is the first international organization responsible for supervising global trade relations. It was established on January 1st 1995. The most important bodies of its organizational structure are the Ministerial Conference, the General Council and the Secretariat. It currently has 153 Members with many candidates involved in accession negotiations. Accession to the World Trade Organization is a highly organized process which can be divided into several steps or stages. The successful fulfillment of the conditions of one stage is the condition for movement to the next. Many challenges and opportunities are incorporated in that process and it is up to candidates for the Membership to find a way to face the challenges and use the opportunities.

Abstract Accurate prediction of the short time series with highly irregular behavior is a challenging task found in many areas of modern science. Such data fluctuations are not systematic and hardly predictable. In recent years, artificial neural networks have widely been exploited for those purposes. Although it is possible to model nonlinear behavior of short time series by using ANNs, very often they are not able to handle all events equally well. Therefore, alternative approaches have to be applied. In this study, a new, concurrent, performance-based methodology that combines best ANN topologies in order to decrease the forecasting errors and increase the forecasting certainty is proposed. The proposed approach is verified on three different data sets: the Serbian Gross National Income time series, the municipal traffic flow for a particular observation point, and the daily electric load consumption time series. It is shown that the method can significantly increase the forecasting accuracy of the individual networks, regardless of their topologies, which makes the methodology more applicable. For quantitative comparison of the accuracy of the proposed methodology with that of similar methodologies, a series of additional forecasting experiments that include a state-of-the-art ARIMA modelling and a combination of ANN and linear regression forecasting have been conducted.
