Abstract Masseter hypertrophy (MH) is an uncommon disorder which can cause both aesthetic and functional problems. The most common aetiological factors associated with MH are habit of chewing gum, clenching and/or bruxism. The treatment of MH includes conservative management as well as surgical resection of the enlarged muscle and/or bone. Injection of botulinum toxin type A is a relatively new and minimally invasive method for management of masseter muscle hypertrophy, which offers many advantages over conventional surgical management. This paper reports a case of unilateral MH of unknown origin which was treated with injection of botulinum toxin type A, resulting in satisfactory reduction in the volume of muscle and improvement of facial aesthetics.

Abstract Background: Patients of head and neck malignancies often develop oral mucositis and invite various pathogens to colonize over it.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to identify the fungi isolated from patients undergoing radiotherapy (RT) for head and neck cancer, to determine the antifungal susceptibility of these isolates and to determine the time and week of fungal colonization.
Patients and methods: Three specimens (throat, urine, and blood) were collected from each of the head and neck cancer patients, who were advised RT. These specimens, which were collected before the start of RT, during RT (2nd and 6th week), and post-RT (8th week) were inoculated into fungal culture media. Candida species were identified by standard methods and antifungal susceptibility of the candidal isolates was done.
Results: Candida infection was found in 24/42 patients (57.14%) out of which Candida albicans was isolated in 14.28%, Candida tropicalis (28.57%) and Candida parapsilosis (14.28%). Maximum isolation of yeast was in the 6th week of RT. Fungemia was found in 3/42 patients. All the yeast isolates were sensitive to fluconazole except two.
Conclusion: Prophylactic antifungal therapy in patients undergoing RT for head and neck malignancy is particularly important to prevent intraoral colonization and infection by Candida. Screening of such patients on RT for fungal infections can prevent fatal mold infections.

Abstract Background: Ileitis is a wasting disease of pigs. Clinical symptoms are diarrhea in growing pigs, wasting and reduced performance. Ileitis is ubiquitous in pig producing countries all around the world. It is estimated that the economic losses caused by the disease are USD 4.65 per fattening pig, and American pig farmers lose USD 56.1 million annually. It has become necessary to develop a slaughterhouse ileitis monitoring method that is simple, feasible to perform at modern slaughter lines, leads to immediate results and is cost effective. The practical experiences of applying the method are presented below.
Methods: Our studies were performed on pig herds and slaughterhouses in Central European countries (Hungary, Romania, Poland, Croatia, and Slovakia). Experiences were evaluated based on visual and palpation. The results of our investigations were evaluated by a scoring method. Authors made histological and immunohistochemical examinations of investigated ileums. The hypothetic economic losses due to the disease in each farm were determined by estimating the loss of profit according to Holtkamp's presentation in 2019.
Results: The essentials of the method we have developed are: it can be performed during slaughterhouse processing, it does not interfere with or make it impossible to carry out normal technological processes, and the results of the procedure are correlated with the results of other laboratory diagnostic tests for ileitis (histology, immunohistochemistry, herd serology, fecal PCR). It is noteworthy that the results of the method can be used to immediately estimate the impact of
Conclusion: Using the results of the slaughtered pigs' visual and tactile examination at the slaughterhouse, the magnitude of the loss caused by

Abstract Aim: To address the existing gaps in knowledge about long-acting nitroglycerine (LA-NTG) and provide recommendations to address these issues.
Methodology: Approved LA-NTG questionnaire that included 17 questions related to the role of LA-NTG in the management of angina and chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) was shared with 150 expert cardiologists from different regions from India. Results of these survey questionnaires were further discussed in 12 regional level meetings. The opinions and suggestions from all the meetings were compiled and analyzed. Further, recommendations were made with the help of attending national cardiology experts and a consensus statement was derived.
Results: This is the first consensus on LA-NTG, summarizing the clinical evidence from India and suggesting recommendations based on these data. The experts recommended early use of LA-NTG as a first-line antianginal therapy in combination with beta-blocker since it improves exercise tolerance in patients with CCS. A strong consensus was observed for using LA-NTG in patients with co-morbid hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and post-percutaneous coronary intervention angina. As a part of cardiac rehabilitation, LA-NTG allows patients with angina to exercise to a greater functional capacity.
Conclusions: A national consensus was observed for several aspects of LA-NTG in the management of angina and CCS. The clinical experience of the experts confirmed an extremely satisfied patient perception about the efficacy of LA-NTG.

Abstract Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is an important current problem concerning public health due to its high incidence and mortality. Advances in molecular and cellular knowledge and the detection of new disease biomarkers are very important to improve prognosis, prediction, and early diagnosis. In this study, we aimed to analyze the gene and protein expression levels of two angiogenic markers, VEGF and soluble Endoglin, during different tumor stages as well as at different stages of cancer treatment, to predict the diagnosis and evolution of colon and rectal cancer.
Material and methods: This study includes 133 CRC patients (93 with colon cancer and 40 with rectal cancer) on which the gene and protein expression of Endoglin (membrane and soluble form) and VEGF were analyzed by molecular and immunohistochemical techniques on different tumor stage samples and plasma obtained preoperatively as well as 3, 6, and 9 months after resection of the tumor.
Results: VEGF and Endoglin gene expressions were higher in tumor tissue than in surrounding non-tumoral tissue for both types of cancer. The VEGF levels in plasma were found to decrease in less aggressive tumors, whereas soluble Endoglin was increased in preoperative samples of patients with metastasis. Membrane Endoglin expression was higher on the vascular endothelium of more aggressive tumors. In contrast, Endoglin expression was mainly in the colon epithelium in less aggressive stage tumors.
Conclusion: Endoglin and VEGF are proteins with a major role in the tumor angiogenesis process. This study performed with a wide cohort of human samples shows that both proteins seem to be valuable biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of CRC.

Abstract It is increasingly recognized that fundamental differences exist between high-risk and low-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes regarding interactions with the host. This study aims to join the recently emerging efforts to uncover these differences at the complete genome level and to study how they may influence the disease caused. Sixteen samples of thirteen patients with various HPV6-mediated benign mucosal disorders (nine recurrent respiratory papillomatoses with 2-8 recurrences, one condyloma acuminatum and three premalignant lesions of the genital mucosa) were sampled to determine the complete virus genomes. We collected the 197 HPV6 complete genomes deposited in the GenBank for cluster analysis to determine (sub)lineages. Genome polymorphisms were determined against the reference sequences of the (sub)lineages. Genome polymorphisms of the long control region (LCR) were tested for putative transcription factor binding sites; their functional analysis was performed by transient transfection of cloned whole LCRs into HEp-2 cells using a luciferase reporter system. Genomes from the same patients were always identical. Three, nine and one patients carried HPV6 lineage A, sublineage B1 and B2 variants, respectively. The three lineage A sequences were highly similar to each other, but distinct from the reference genome. A unique non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) was found in the E5a open reading frame (ORF). Sublineage B1 genomes were more diverse, exhibited unique non-synonymous SNPs in the LCR and the E2/E4, L1, L2 ORFs. LCR activity of lineage A and sublineage B1 differed significantly; activity of one sublineage B1 LCR exhibiting two unique SNPs was significantly higher than that of other B1 LCR variants, close to the mean of LCR activities of lineage A variants. Different HPV6 lineages showed marked differences in variability patterns of the different genome regions. This may be involved in the differences in their distribution in different diseases or patient populations.
