    Abstract Combining the Self-determination Theory and Social Cognitive Career Theory, the present study proposed a conceptual process model examining the relationships among work-related basic psychological needs satisfaction (BPNS; satisfaction of autonomy, competence, and relatedness needs), self-efficacy, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction. To test the model, the study focused on a sample that is seldom investigated in the occupational well-being literature, namely university teachers. In total, 275 Chinese university teachers completed an online survey. Structural equation modeling technique and bootstrapping method were employed to evaluate the research model. The results indicated that autonomy satisfaction and competence satisfaction were directly related to self-efficacy and indirectly related to job satisfaction via the mediating variable of self-efficacy. In contrast, Self-efficacy did not mediate the relationship between relatedness satisfaction and job satisfaction since relatedness satisfaction was not predictive of self-efficacy. In addition, job satisfaction was found to mediate the relationship between self-efficacy and life satisfaction. Implications for university managerial practices were discussed in order to promote teachers' well-being in both job and life domains.

    Abstract Background: The dropping out of university students is a serious problem faced by higher education all over the world. Studies have shown that academic hardiness is a positive psychological variable to prevent students from dropping out of university and academic burnout. Psychological hardiness can reduce the dropping out by increasing university students' academic engagement and academic achievement.
    Objective: This study aims to discover the influence of psychological hardiness on university student's academic achievement and the mediating role of academic engagement in the relationship between psychological hardiness and academic achievement. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 615 participants.
    Methods: Pearson correlation coefficients were conducted to analyze the relationships between psychological hardiness, academic engagement and academic achievement. Mediation analysis was used to evaluate the mediating role of academic engagement in the relationship between psychological hardiness and academic achievement.
    Results: The research indicated a closely significant association between psychological hardiness, academic engagement and academic achievement. Psychological hardiness can directly predict academic achievement and can also indirectly predict academic achievement through the intermediary effect of academic engagement.
    Conclusion: This study could have important implications for research by linking psychological hardiness and academic achievement. The results suggest that universities should pay attention to the positive role psychological hardiness plays in improving university students' academic achievement. This study also benefits the university administrators, especially, those dealing with university students at the risk of dropping out and high academic stress.

    Abstract As a camptothecin derivative, 7-ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin (SN38) combats cancer by inhibiting topoisomerase I. SN38 is one of the most active compounds among camptothecin derivatives. In addition, SN38 is also a theranostic reagent due to its intrinsic fluorescence. However, the poor water solubility, high systemic toxicity and limited action against drug resistance and metastasis of tumor cells of SN38 indicates that there is great space for the structural modification of SN38. From the perspective of chemical modification, this paper summarizes the progress of SN38 in improving solubility, increasing activity, reducing toxicity and possessing multifunction and analyzes the strategies of structure modification to provide a reference for drug development based on SN38.

    Abstract China has become one of the leading study abroad destinations worldwide. Recent research also indicates that international students encounter diverse life challenges and mental health issues in China. Therefore, scholars have shown increasing interest in their adjustment in Chinese social and academic settings. Seeking theoretical guidance from the Job Demands-Resources Model with mediation and moderation assumptions, our study aimed to test the dual processes (i.e., the health impairment process and the motivational process) leading to academic, sociocultural, and psychological adjustment, among international students sojourning in China. Using a convenience sampling method, our study recruited 1,001 participants (535 males and 466 females;

    Abstract The insulin signaling pathway plays an important role in the development of diabetes mellitus. The expression of insulin signaling pathway related proteins in the urine of diabetic patients has not been reported. The aim of this study was to analyze and verify the expression of insulin signaling pathway related proteins in the urine of diabetic patients without hypertension and hyperlipidemia, and to explore their clinical application value. Based on data-independent acquisition proteomics technology and bioinformatics, the urinary protein expression profile of diabetic patients without hypertension and hyperlipidemia was established. Western blot and enzyme-linked immunoassay were performed to verify the expression of insulin signaling pathway related proteins in the urine of diabetic patients. Sixteen proteins related to the insulin signaling pathway were screened in urine, and 7 of them were differentially expressed in the urine of diabetic patients without hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Further quantitative analysis showed that the downregulation of protein kinase CAMP-dependent type II regulatory subunit α, growth factor receptor bound protein 2, and guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(s) in the urine of diabetic patients without hyperlipidemia and hypertension was consistent with the preliminary screening results. In this exploratory study, we detected the expression of insulin signaling pathway related proteins in the urine of diabetic patients without hypertension and hyperlipidemia. protein kinase CAMP-dependent type II regulatory subunit α, growth factor receptor bound protein 2, and guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(s) in the urine of diabetic patients were downregulated, which was associated with diabetes. They may be promising noninvasive biomarkers for monitoring diabetes.

    Abstract Background: Lymphedema (LE) is a chronic disease that can lead to disability. Currently, the pathogenesis of LE remains unclear, and there is a lack of serum proteins applicable for diagnosis in clinical practice. This study aimed to screen and identify the differentially expressed proteins in serum samples of limb lymphedema and normal subjects and to further explore their value in the diagnosis of LE.
    Methods: Nano-flow reverse phase liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (Nano RPLC-MS/MS) was used to establish the serum protein profiles of primary lymphedema (PLE), secondary lymphedema (SLE), and normal controls (NC). Differentially expressed serum proteins were screened and identified. Subsequently, enrichment analysis was performed for proteins that were upregulated in the LE group compared to the NC group. The target protein was validated by western blot (WB) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Both the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and Spearman's correlation test were employed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the protein and its relationship with disease severity.
    Results: A total of 362 serum proteins were identified, among which 241 proteins were differentially expressed among PLE, SLE, and NC subjects (p < 0.05, fold change > 1.2). The enriched pathway correlated with cornified envelope formation was selected for further analysis. Cathepsin D (CTSD), a target protein involved in the selected pathway, was found to be up-regulated in the serum of PLE and SLE patients compared to NC. The AUCs of CTSD were 0.849 and 0.880 for patients with PLE and SLE, respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between the levels of serum CTSD and disease severity in the PLE group.
    Conclusions: Proteomic analysis found that the levels of serum proteins related to cornified envelope formation were elevated in patients with limb lymphedema. Serum CTSD was highly expressed in patients with limb lymphedema and showed good diagnostic value.

    Abstract WeChat is a highly popular social media in China and many other Asian countries, but little is known about its effectiveness in facilitating international students' academic and social functioning. Hence, the present study aimed to examine causal or reciprocal relationships among WeChat usage intensity, behavioral engagement in academic learning (BE-academic) and in local social activities (BE-social), and academic and social adjustment. To this end, we employed a three-wave longitudinal design among international students in China with data collected at three times (i.e., Time 1 data collected in December of 2020, Time 2 data collected in March of 2021, and Time 3 data collected in June of 2021). Results based on the cross-lagged panel analyses indicated that in academic domains, WeChat usage intensity positively predicted longitudinal changes in BE-academic and academic adjustment positively predicted longitudinal changes in WeChat usage intensity across Time 1 and Time 3. In social domains, WeChat usage intensity positively predicted longitudinal changes in BE-social and social adjustment, and BE-social positively predicted longitudinal changes in social adjustment from Time 1 to Time 2. Additionally, the reverse effects of social adjustment on WeChat usage intensity were revealed across Time 1 and Time 3.

    Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the effects of local wound infiltration anaesthesia on postoperative wound pain in patients undergoing open liver resection. The Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM) and Wanfang databases were searched. The search period spanned from database creation to December 2022. All relevant studies on local wound infiltration anaesthesia for analgesia after hepatectomy were included. Two investigators independently screened the literature, extracted data and evaluated the quality of each study. Review Manager (RevMan) 5.4 software (Cochrane Collaboration) was used for the meta-analysis, in which 12 studies with 986 patients were included. The results show that local wound infiltration anaesthesia effectively reduced surgical site wound pain at 4 h (mean difference [MD]: -1.26, 95% confidence intervals [CIs]: -2.15 to -0.37, P = .005), 12 h (MD: -0.84, 95% CIs: -1.26 to -0.42, P < .001), 24 h (MD: -0.57, 95% CIs: -1.01 to -0.14, P = .009) and 48 h (MD: -0.54, 95% CIs: -0.81 to -0.26, P < .001) postoperatively; however, there was no significant difference in analgesia at 72 h postoperatively (MD: -0.10, 95% CIs: -0.80 to 0.59, P = .77). These findings suggest that local wound infiltration anaesthesia administered to patients undergoing open liver resection provides good postoperative wound analgesia at the surgical site.
