    Abstract The current review focuses on our work on the relationship between the error-related negativity (i.e., ERN) and anxiety in children and adolescents. The ERN is an event-related potential (ERP) that appears as a negative deflection in the ERP waveform when individuals make errors and has been found to be increased in anxious individuals. We, and others, have extended this work into developmental populations, finding that the ERN can be measured reliably in children and that the ERN is increased among clinically anxious youth. Furthermore, we have found that the ERN predicts risk for increases in anxiety across development, among healthy and clinically anxious children. We have done work to elucidate what psychological phenomena the increased ERN among anxious children may reflect by creating a self-report measure of error sensitivity (i.e., the Child Error Sensitivity Index) that relates to the ERN. Moreover, we review our work on parenting and the ERN, which suggests that harsh or critical parenting styles may potentiate the ERN in offspring. And, building on these findings, we discuss our recent work to develop novel, computerized intervention strategies to reduce the ERN and thereby risk for anxiety.

    Abstract Der Konsum von Gemüsesäften in den europäischen Ländern macht nur einen geringen Bruchteil, etwa 0,5 - 3 % des Anteils der Fruchtsäfte und Fruchtsaftgetränke aus. Trotz dieses niedrigen Verbrauchs von Gemüsesäften verdienen diese ausgesprochen kalorienarmen Säfte erhöhte Beachtung, vor allem, weil sie appetitanregend und verdauungsregulierend wirken und dazu als Vitamin- und Mineralstoffspender von größter Bedeutung sind./1/ Der nachwachsende Rohstoff Topinambur ( Helianthus tuberosus L. ), der aus den nördlichen Regionen Nordamerikas stammt, wird seit Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts in Europa kultiviert. Unter dem neuen Aspekt der Bioenergieproduktion kommt Topinambur wegen ihres hohen Energiepotentials vermehrte Bedeutung zu. Zu nennen ist in diesem Zusammenhang der medizinisch und ernährungsbedingt begründete Einsatz von D-Fructose als Süssungsmittel in der Lebensmittel- und Getränkeindustrie./2,3,4,8/Die Verwendung von Topinamburprodukten im diätetischen Bereich ist ebenfalls zu erwähnen./9/Außerdem stellt Topinambur als Substrat für die Produktion von hochfructosehaltigen Sirupen eine natürlich vorkommende D-FructanQuelle dar./5/

    Abstract The effects of six biotic and abiotic elicitors, i.e. MeJA (methyl jasmonate), SA (salicylic acid), ZnCl2, glutathione and β-glucan BG (fungal elicitor), and wounding, on the secondary metabolite accumulation in the soft coral Sarcophyton ehrenbergi were assessed. Upon elicitation, metabolites were extracted and analysed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS). Except for MeJA, no differences in photosynthetic efficiency were observed after treatments, suggesting the absence of a remarkable stress on primary production. Chemometric analyses of UPLC-MS data showed clear segregation of SA and ZnCl2 elicited samples at 24 and 48 h post elicitation. Levels of acetylated diterpene and sterol viz., sarcophytonolide I and cholesteryl acetate, was increased in ZnCl2 and SA groups, respectively, suggesting an activation of specific acetyl transferases. Post elicitation, sarcophytonolide I level increased 132 and 17-folds at 48 h in 0.1 mM SA and 1 mM ZnCl2 groups, respectively. Interestingly, decrease in sarcophine, a major diterpene was observed only in response to ZnCl2, whereas no change was observed in sesquiterpene content following treatments. To the best of our knowledge, this study provides the first documentation for elicitation effects on a soft corals secondary metabolome and suggests that SA could be applied to increase diterpenoid levels in corals.
