Abstract Biomass residue is one of the focus areas for green energy in Indonesia, elaborated in Government Regulation no 79 the year 2014 on national energy development. The assessment of residual resources is an important way to show the availability distribution to realize the target of biofuel is more than 5% of the energy supply in 2025. Thus, this paper will present a method to assess the energy production from biomass residue as a primary consideration in its development. Statistical data and field observations have been used to estimate the total availability of residue. Furthermore, to calculate the energy potential of biomass residue, the minimum and maximum value parameters, such as residue to product ratio, moisture content, and heating value, were obtained from works of literature. The power potential was also analyzed through three scenarios of the conversion factor efficiency, i.e., low, medium, and high, to provide comprehensive results. The proposed methods allow the annual Indonesian biomass residue production from agriculture and forest residue to be nearly 155,271 and 2554 tonnes, respectively. It can be generated an energy potential around 1261 PJ, covering 22.12% of national energy consumption. Given the high potential for sustainability in biomass residue supply and utilization, strategic factor in the areas of the government regulation and policy, greenhouse gasses emission, land-use change, and conversion technology were identified to support residue valorization in the context of planning, organizing and operating. The challenges and barriers that can be minimized by integrated collaboration and synergy among policymakers, entrepreneurs, academics, and community to assist the sustainability of green energy production in the future, and evaluation of environmental, economic, and social analysis as a framework to improve the quality and quantity of the production processes.

Abstract The electrophoretic mobility change of desferrioxamine B (DFO) was monitored by UV absorption spectrophotometry upon increasing the thorium(IV) concentration in the background electrolyte at two acidities ([HClO₄]Tₒₜ = 0.0316 and 0.0100 M). These data enabled to assess the speciation model and to determine the equilibrium constant of [Th(DFO)H₂]³⁺ at fixed ionic strength (I = 0.1 M (H,Na)ClO₄). Affinity capillary electrophoresis (ACE) turned out to be most helpful in identifying the complexed species by ascertaining its charge and protonation state. The assignment of the correct stoichiometry relied on the reliable estimation of the electrophoretic mobility by assuming similar hydrodynamic radii for (DFO)H₄⁺ and the chelate. The value of the apparent equilibrium constant (log β₁₁₂ = 38.7 ± 0.4) obtained by ACE compares favorably well with those reported in the literature for thorium and a range of other metal ions, according to a linear free‐energy relationship. This method is useful for studying metal‐ligand binding equilibria and provides valuable information for further modelling the behavior of tetravalent actinides under environmental conditions. Structural information about the prevalent solution species in acidic conditions was gained by DFT calculations, confirming the bishydroxamato coordination mode of Th⁴⁺ by the diprotonated ligand.

Abstract "Rhetoric was fundamental to education and to cultural aspiration in the Greek and Roman worlds. It was one of the key aspects of antiquity that slipped under the line between the ancient world and Christianity erected by the early Church in late antiquity. Ancient rhetorical theory is obsessed with examples and discussions drawn from visual material. This book mines this rich seam of theoretical analysis from within Roman culture to present an internalist model for some aspects of how the Romans understood, made and appreciated their art. The understanding of public monuments like the Arch of Titus or Trajan's Column or of imperial statuary, domestic wall painting, funerary altars and sarcophagi, as well as of intimate items like children's dolls, is greatly enriched by being placed in relevant rhetorical contexts created by the Roman world"--

Abstract Defining the distribution of the chemical species in a multicomponent system is a task of great importance with applications in many fields. To clarify the identity and the abundance of the species that can be formed by the interaction of the components of a solution, it is fundamental to know the formation constants of those species. The determination of equilibrium constants is mainly performed through the analysis of experimental data obtained by different instrumental techniques. Among them, potentiometry is the elective technique for this purpose. As such, a survey was run within the NECTAR COST Action - Network for Equilibria and Chemical Thermodynamics Advanced Research, to identify the most used software for the analysis of potentiometric data and to highlight their strengths and weaknesses. The features and the calculation processes of each software were analyzed and rationalized, and a simulated titration dataset of a hypothetic hexaprotic acid was processed by each software to compare and discuss the optimized protonation constants. Moreover, further data analysis was also carried out on the original dataset including some systematic errors from different sources, as some calibration parameters, the total analytical concentration of reagents and ionic strength variations during titrations, to evaluate their impact on the refined parameters. Results showed that differences on the protonation constants estimated by the tested software are not significant, while some of the considered systematic errors affect results. Overall, it emerged that software commonly used suffer from many limitations, highlighting the urgency of new dedicated and modern tools. In this context, some guidelines for data generation and treatment are also given.

Abstract Elderly people with renal impairment are at high risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE) and acute coronary syndromes (ACS); however, they are also at increased risk for bleeding complications. Evidence-based data for the management of anticoagulation in elderly patients with severe renal impairment, in particular, are limited. These patients are frequently excluded from randomized clinical trials evaluating anticoagulants, confounding clinical decision making. Low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWHs), such as enoxaparin sodium and dalteparin sodium, provide a predictable anticoagulant effect across almost all patient populations; however, because they are primarily eliminated through the kidneys, elderly patients with moderate or severe renal impairment are potentially at risk for LMWH accumulation. Clinical evidence suggests that treatment with full-dose enoxaparin sodium could increase the risk for bleeding in elderly patients with severe renal impairment; however, this risk is ameliorated with approved dose adjustments. Dalteparin sodium has been evaluated in small studies within this population but no strategy for reduced dosing has been developed. There are limited clinical data on the use of fondaparinux sodium and, in particular, the new anticoagulants, such as dabigatran etexilate and rivaroxaban, in elderly patients with renal impairment. Evidence suggests that the clearance of fondaparinux sodium is mildly reduced in elderly patients, and more substantially reduced in patients with severe renal impairment; a dose reduction has recently been approved in Europe. Age and renal function appear to affect the exposure of dabigatran etexilate. A dose reduction is recommended in the elderly and in those with moderate renal function, but dabigatran etexilate is contraindicated in severe renal impairment. Rivaroxaban has been associated with increased exposure and pharmacodynamic effects in the elderly and those with renal impairment; at present there is no facility for dose reduction. Monitoring anticoagulant activity may help improve the safety profile of anticoagulants in elderly patients with renal impairment, particularly when approved dose reductions are unavailable. However, unlike the LMWHs, clinical surveillance of the new anticoagulants is challenging. In conclusion, extra care should be taken when anticoagulants are administered to elderly patients with renal impairment. Additional data are needed, particularly for the new anticoagulants, in order to guide the prevention and treatment of VTE and ACS, and to ensure the optimal safety profile in older patients with renal impairment.
