    Abstract In recent years, much more emphasis than before has been placed on fire safety regulations by the local and central authorities of China, which makes fire risk assessments more important. In this paper we propose a new fire risk assessment approach for large-scale commercial and high-rise buildings that aims to evaluate the performances of their fire safety systems; this should improve the fire risk management and public safety in those buildings. According to the features of large-scale commercial and high-rise buildings, a fire-risk indexing system was built, and based on it we established a scientific fire risk evaluation system. To this end, the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) was used to assign a reasonable weight to each fire risk factor in the evaluation system. In addition, we revised the original scores by analyzing the coupling relationships among the fire risk factors. To validate our system, we selected 11 buildings in Shandong province and collected their fire safety data. Then, we calculated the final scores for the fire safety management of those buildings, and the results show that: (1) our fire risk evaluation system can assign reasonable weights; (2) the proposed evaluation system is comprehensive and has strong interpretability, since it exploits the coupling relationships among the risk factors. The novelty of the proposed approach lies in that it integrates opinions from multiple experts and utilizes coupling relationships among the factors. Further, the feedback from the approach can find not only the weaknesses in fire risk management, but also the potential causes of fires. As a result, the feedback from our assessment can assist the safety chiefs and inspectors with improving fire risk management.

    Abstract Video-based moving vehicle detection and tracking is an important prerequisite for vehicle counting under complex transportation environments. However, in the complex natural scene, the conventional optical flow method cannot accurately detect the boundary of the moving vehicle due to the generation of the shadow. In addition, traditional vehicle tracking algorithms are often occluded by trees, buildings, etc., and particle filters are also susceptible to particle degradation. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a kind of moving vehicle detection and tracking based on the optical flow method and immune particle filter algorithm. The proposed method firstly uses the optical flow method to roughly detect the moving vehicle and then uses the shadow detection algorithm based on the HSV color space to mark the shadow position after threshold segmentation and further combines the region-labeling algorithm to realize the shadow removal and accurately detect the moving vehicle. Improved affinity calculation and mutation function of antibody are proposed to make the particle filter algorithm have certain adaptivity and robustness to scene interference. Experiments are carried out in complex traffic scenes with shadow and occlusion interference. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can well solve the interference of shadow and occlusion and realize accurate detection and robust tracking of moving vehicles under complex transportation environments, which has the potentiality to be processed on a cloud computing platform.

    Abstract Abstract Of particular significance to human population history in Eurasia are the migratory events that connected the Near East to Europe after the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). Utilizing 315 HV*(xH,V) mitogenomes, including 27 contemporary lineages first reported here, we found the genetic signatures for distinctive movements out of the Near East and South Caucasus both westward into Europe and eastward into South Asia. The parallel phylogeographies of rare, yet widely distributed HV*(xH,V) subclades reveal a connection between the Italian Peninsula and South Caucasus, resulting from at least two (post-LGM, Neolithic) waves of migration. Many of these subclades originated in a population ancestral to contemporary Armenians and Assyrians. One such subclade, HV1b-152, supports a postexilic, northern Mesopotamian origin for the Ashkenazi HV1b2 lineages. In agreement with ancient DNA findings, our phylogenetic analysis of HV12 and HV14, the two exclusively Asian subclades of HV*(xH,V), point to the migration of lineages originating in Iran to South Asia before and during the Neolithic period. With HV12 being one of the oldest HV subclades, our results support an origin of HV haplogroup in the region defined by Western Iran, Mesopotamia, and the South Caucasus, where the highest prevalence of HV has been found.

    Abstract Background: Serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade A member 3 (SERPINA3) belongs to the serpin family with an inhibitory activity against proteases. Its aberrant expression has been observed in a wide range of tumor cells. However, its clinical significance and biological function in endometrial cancer have been rarely studied. We designed a study to determine the levels of SERPINA3 and its significance in patients with endometrial cancer.
    Aim: To investigate the clinical significance and role of SERPINA3 expression in endometrial cancer cells.
    Methods: Eighty endometrial tissue samples collected from patients with endometrial cancer were included in an observation group and 80 paraffin-embedded tissues samples collected from patients with normal endometrial tissues undergoing myomectomy were employed as a control group between January 2014 and December 2018. The expression of SERPINA3 mRNA was detected by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for all endometrial tissues included in the study.
    Results: The positive expression rate of SERPINA3 protein in endometrial cancer cells was 71.25% in the observation group, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (31.25%;
    Conclusion: The follow-up study of SERPINA3 can be used as a prognostic biomarker for endometrial cancer and as one of the targets for bio-targeted therapy for endometrial cancer.

    Abstract Adsorption and separation of C4 hydrocarbons are crucial steps in petrochemical processes. Employment of porous materials for enhancing the separation efficiency have paid much attention. Covalent-organic frameworks of diamond-topology, dia-COFs, often exhibit unique structural properties such as interpenetration isomerism and pedal motion. Herein, in order to get a deep insight into the structure-performance correlation of such dia-COFs, a series of dia-COF materials have been proposed and theoretically investigated on the C4 separation. It is found that these dia-COFs display an excellent adsorption and separation property towards isobutene with respect to other C4 hydrocarbons (i.e., 1,3-butadiene, 1-butene, 2-cis-butene, 2-trans-butene, isobutane and n-butane). What’s more, the correlation between the topology parameters and experimental synthesis feasibility has been established for COF-300 (dia-cN), and the unreported COF-300 (dia-c3) is predicted to be experimentally feasible synthesized. Our findings not only provide a deep insight into the mechanism of topology characteristics of dia-COFs on C4 adsorption and separation properties but also guide the design and synthesis of novel highly-effective porous materials.

    Abstract Developing high-efficiency catalysis electrodes towards both HER (hydrogen evolution reaction) and OER (oxygen evolution reaction) is critical to the popularity and practical application of devices for conversion and storage of clean and renewable hydrogen energy by overall water splitting. In this paper, a series of transition metal alloy nanoparticles embedded hierarchically porous carbon nanosheets (denoted as FexCoy@PCNSs) have been successfully designed and synthesized. After optimizing the metallic contents in FexCoy alloy, Fe3Co7@PCNSs displays superior water electrolysis performances compared to other control samples and previously reported non-noble metal catalysts. This advance is mainly due to the synergistic effect of increased carbon edges exposure, abundant accessible active sites, and improved electron/mass transport capability of 3D hierarchically porous architecture. More importantly, when Fe3Co7@PCNSs is applied as both cathode and anode in a two-electrode cell for carrying out the overall water splitting process, it just needs the corresponding cell voltages of 1.667 and 1.707 V to attain the 10 and 20 mA cm−2 current densities respectively. The synthesis of Fe3Co7@PCNSs confirms the importance of Fe and Co elements in designing catalyst structures. The electrochemical measurements further display the key roles of structural features and metal alloy@C active sites for boosting water splitting performances.

    Abstract To determine if objective evidence of autonomic dysfunction exists from a group of Gulf War veterans with self-reported post-exertional fatigue, we evaluated 16 Gulf War ill veterans and 12 Gulf War controls. Participants of the ill group had self- reported, unexplained chronic post-exertional fatigue and the illness symptoms had persisted for years until the current clinical study. The controls had no self-reported post-exertional fatigue either at the time of initial survey nor at the time of the current study. We intended to identify clinical autonomic disorders using autonomic and neurophysiologic testing in the clinical context. We compared the autonomic measures between the 2 groups on cardiovascular function at both baseline and head-up tilt, and sudomotor function. We identified 1 participant with orthostatic hypotension, 1 posture orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, 2 distal small fiber neuropathy, and 1 length dependent distal neuropathy affecting both large and small fiber in the ill group; whereas none of above definable diagnoses was noted in the controls. The ill group had a significantly higher baseline heart rate compared to controls. Compound autonomic scoring scale showed a significant higher score (95% CI of mean: 1.72 to 2.67) among ill group compared to controls (0.58 to 1.59). We conclude that objective autonomic testing is necessary for the evaluation of self-reported, unexplained post-exertional fatigue among some Gulf War veterans with multi-symptom illnesses. Our observation that ill veterans with self-reported post-exertional fatigue had objective autonomic measures that were worse than controls warrants validation in a larger clinical series.

    Abstract Abstract Electromagnetic (EM) wave pollution is harmful to human health and environment, thus it is absolutely important to develop new electromagnetic wave absorbing materials. MAX phases have been attracted more attention as a potential candidate for electromagnetic wave absorbing materials due to their high conductivity and nanolaminated structure. Herein, two new magnetic MAX phases with multiprincipal elements ((Ti1/3Nb1/3Ta1/3)2FeC and (Ti0.2V0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Zr0.2)2FeC) in which Fe atoms replace Al atoms in the A sites are successfully synthesized by an isomorphous replacement reaction of multiprincipal (Ti1/3Nb1/3Ta1/3)2AlC and (Ti0.2V0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Zr0.2)2AlC MAX phases with Lewis acid salt (FeCl2). (Ti1/3Nb1/3Ta1/3)2FeC and (Ti0.2V0.2Nb0.2Ta0.2Zr0.2)2FeC exhibit ferromagnetic behavior, and the Curie temperature (Tc) are 302 and 235 K, respectively. The dual electromagnetic absorption mechanisms that include dielectric and magnetic loss, which is realized in these multiprincipal MAX phases. The minimum reflection loss (RL) of (Ti1/3Nb1/3Ta1/3)2FeC is −44.4 dB at 6.56 GHz with 3 mm thickness, and the effective bandwidth is 2.48 GHz. Additionally, the electromagnetic wave absorption properties of the magnetic MAX phases indicate that magnetic loss also plays an important role besides dielectric loss. This work shows a promising composition‐design strategy to develop MAX phases with good EM wave absorption performance via simultaneously regulating dielectric and magnetic loss together.
