Abstract Aedes albopictus, the Asian tiger mosquito, was unintentionally introduced in Italy at the beginning of the 1990s. In few decades it spread almost in the whole Country. In Piedmont, the first report dates back to 1994. Usually, temperate populations are affected by seasonal temperature and photoperiodicity and can overwinter by producing eggs that undergo a winter diapause. In Rome females of the species extended their trophic activity to the coldest months of the year, but there is no notice about a similar behaviour for northern areas of the Country. In our routine work, we often inspect residential and public buildings according to people requests due to the presence of annoying mosquitoes. During these inspections, we try to identify and solve the problem looking for adults and breeding sites of annoying species. Samples are conveniently collected and identified in the field or returning in the labs. We report seven cases of Ae. albopictus female trophic activity in both residential and public buildings, from November to March, in urban and rural areas in Piedmont, ranging between 44°33'11" N and 45°05'09" N. In one case, some larval breeding sites with a large number of larvae and pupae of this species were identified. Ae. albopictus can show trophic and reproductive activity during the winter in the northwestern Italy under favourable conditions. This evidence is of particular concern because of seasonality of Aedes mosquito-borne disease in returned travellers. Dengue, for example, has its higher morbidity in returned travellers from Caribbean and Central America typically during the winter period.

Abstract Juvenile autoimmune hepatitis (JAIH) is severe immune-mediated necro-inflammatory disease of the liver with spontaneous progression to cirrhosis and liver failure if left untreated. The diagnosis is based on the combination of clinical, laboratory and histological findings. Prothrombin ratio is a useful prognostic factor to identify patients who will most likely require a liver transplant by adolescence or early adulthood. JAIH treatment consists of immune suppression and should be started promptly at diagnosis to halt inflammatory liver damage and ultimately prevent fibrosis and progression to end-stage liver disease. The risk of relapse is high especially in the setting of poor treatment compliance. Recent evidence however suggests that treatment discontinuation is possible after a prolonged period of normal aminotransferase activity without the need for liver biopsy prior to withdrawal.

Abstract In children, CMV-associated protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) is characterised by a benign course and spontaneous healing but can lead to generalised oedema. Poorly defined, it is diagnosed after unnecessary invasive tests. Children with CMV-associated PLE between 2009 and 2019 in two French hospitals are retrospectively described. Clinical and biological signs, CMV identification, endoscopy and histological findings, disease management and course are analysed. CMV-associated PLE is proven in 21 immunocompetent and 22 immunosuppressed patients, with ages consistent with primo-infection and reactivation, respectively. The digestive symptoms prevail in immunocompetent children, mainly with vomiting (85.7% versus 50%, CI [1.2; 39.2],

Abstract Talar body fractures are uncommon fractures of the foot and its management results to be very hard due to retrograde vascularization and wide articular cartilage coverage of talar surface, which could easily lead to poor functional outcomes, avascular osteonecrosis and early post traumatic arthritis. We describe a case of displaced, vertical, talar body fracture in a 41-year-old patient treated with reduction and fixation by talar anteromedial approach coupled to medial malleolar osteotomy to better expose the fracture. Our literature review has found few studies, in addition with a low level of statistical evidence. We advocate for more studies with a bigger sample and with a design of randomized control trials.

Abstract Case summary: A 2-year-old neutered female feline leukaemia virus (FeLV)-negative domestic shorthair cat was referred with an acute onset of vestibular signs. A clinical examination identified evidence of otitis externa of the right ear and enlargement of the right mandibular lymph node. MRI revealed predominantly T2 and FLAIR hyperintense and contrast-enhancing lesions affecting the right external ear canal, tympanic bulla and nasopharyngeal regions with intracranial extension. Cytology and culture and sensitivity samples collected from the middle ear via myringotomy revealed a population of intermediate to large lymphocytes consistent with lymphoma and mixed
Relevance and novel information: This is the first report of a primary extranodal B-cell lymphoma affecting the tympanic bulla with suspected involvement of the nasopharynx and cranial vault treated with chemotherapy alone in the veterinary literature. Although very rare, B-cell lymphoma should be included in the differentials for diseases affecting the inner and/or middle ear and extending intracranially in cats. Chemotherapy represents a non-invasive treatment modality with a survival of up to 22 months appearing possible.

Abstract Objective: We aimed to verify the rate of masturbation (Mst) in a group of 150 Italian patients complaining Erectile Dysfunction (ED).
Materials and methods: Our diagnostic protocol for penile and sexual problems included the collection of the patient's history, general and local clinical examination, and metabolic and hormonal analyses. Selected patients were also submitted to nocturnal penile tumescence test (Rigiscan), Duplex ultrasound of the penis, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, neurological tests and cardiological examination. A group of 150 Italian males (aged between 20 and 86 years) who complained ED and who presented to our Andrological Center to research the possibility of correcting their ED and being able to recover adequate sexual erectile activity were included in this study. In this group of patients suffering from ED we decided to evaluate the practice of Mst by asking specific questions: 1. Do you sometimes practice Mst? 2. How often in a week? 3. Is Mst hidden or known by the partner? 4. What do you use as a masturbatory sexual stimulus? The frequency of Mst was assessed according to a Likert scale as follow: a: No Mst; b:1-2/week; c: 2-3/week; d: > 3/week; e: daily or more. We also asked if it was possible to have penetrative marital intercourse on the same day as Mst (1-10 hours). We also asked what they used as a triggering sexual stimulus: press magazines, TV movies, the WEB.
Results: Only 5/150 patients did not report Mst while 27/145 pts (aged 20-30 years) reported it more than 3 times a week; 44/145 (aged 31-50 years) 1-3 times a week and 27/145 (51-86 years) 1-2 times a week. Almost all patients used WebPorn as a stimulus for Mst. A group of patients over the age of 50 said they were quite satisfied with the physical results of Mst even though they would prefer to have sex as part of a couple relationship.
Conclusions: The outburst of Mst in this web-dominated era could affect the sexual activity of individual males and couples.

Abstract Paget's disease (PDB) is a chronic osteopathy more common in male, Caucasic, European population, after the age of 50 years, that can lead to bone deformities. A challenging surgical solution for affected hip with severe hip osteoarthritis is total hip replacement (THA). We describe a case of THA in a 71-year-old patient with PDB and we present a literature review. In particular we find out that more studies comparing cementless THA with cemented one are necessary, in order to understand if one implant is better than the other.
