Abstract Cholinergic neurons of the basal forebrain (BF) represent the main source of cholinergic innervation of large parts of the neocortex and are involved in adults in the modulation of attention, memory, and arousal. During the first postnatal days, they play a crucial role in the development of cortical neurons and cortical cytoarchitecture. However, their characteristics, during this period have not been studied. To understand how they can fulfill this role, we investigated the morphological and electrophysiological maturation of cholinergic neurons of the substantia innominata-nucleus basalis of Meynert complex (SI/NBM) in the perinatal period in mice. We show that cholinergic neurons, whether or not they express γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) as a co-transmitter, are already functional at embryonic day 18 (E18). Until the end of the first postnatal week, they constitute a single population of neurons with a well-developed dendritic tree, a spontaneous activity including bursting periods, and a short latency response to depolarizations (early-firing). They are excited by both their GABAergic and glutamatergic afferents. During the second postnatal week, a second, less excitable, neuronal population emerges, with a longer delay response to depolarizations (late-firing), together with the hyperpolarizing action of GABA

Abstract The light gated recurrent units (Li-GRU) is well-known for achieving impressive results in automatic speech recognition (ASR) tasks while being lighter and faster to train than a standard gated recurrent units (GRU). However, the unbounded nature of its rectified linear unit on the candidate recurrent gate induces an important gradient exploding phenomenon disrupting the training process and preventing it from being applied to famous datasets. In this paper, we theoretically and empirically derive the necessary conditions for its stability as well as engineering mechanisms to speed up by a factor of five its training time, hence introducing a novel version of this architecture named SLi-GRU. Then, we evaluate its performance both on a toy task illustrating its newly acquired capabilities and a set of three different ASR datasets demonstrating lower word error rates compared to more complex recurrent neural networks.

Abstract This study examined the management of North-East Moroccan physicians of menopause. The poll was carried out on a representative sample of physicians in the Nador region. The sample included gynecologists and general practitioner physicians in both public and private medical sectors. The survey contained focused and open-ended questions on the good knowledge or not of physicians about menopause, their patient population, their prescribing practices, their perceptions, and the different medical approaches to managing the symptoms of menopause. Among the general practitioners interviewed, only 16% of physicians are very knowledgeable about the management of menopause and only 3 physicians have followed continuous training. The others have mainly acquired their information from the internet, medical journals, and scientific magazines. Only one-third of physicians interviewed prescribe menopausal hormonal treatment in this region. The treatment is mainly prescribed to cope with hot flashes (97.1%) and menstrual cycle disruption (85.7%). Others are in favor of non-hormonal treatments and advise women to change their bad daily habits to relieve symptoms. In this region of Morocco, hormonal treatment for menopause is not very common and the majority of general practitioners are not familiar with menopause.

Abstract The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in predictive analytics is growing in popularity. It has the power to offer ground-breaking solutions for a range of social problems and real world societal difficulties. It is helpful in addressing some of the social issues that today's world seems incapable of solving. One of the most significant phenomena affecting people's lives is divorce. The goal of this paper is to study the use of machine learning algorithms to determine the effectiveness of divorce predictor scale (DPS) and identify the reasons that usually lead to divorce in the scenario of Hail region, KSA. For this purpose, in this study, the DPS, based on Gottman couples therapy, was used to predict divorce by applying different machine learning algorithms. There were 54 items of the DPS used as features or attributes for data collection. In addition to the DPS, a personal information form was utilized to gather participants' personal data in order to conduct this study in a more structured and traditional manner. Out of 148 participants 116 participants were married whereas 32 were divorced. With the use of algorithms artificial neural network (ANN), naïve bayes (NB), and random forest (RF), the effectiveness of DPS was examined in this study. The correlation based feature selection method was used to identify the top six features from the same dataset and the highest accuracy rate was 91.66% with RF. The results show that DPS can predict divorce. This scale can help family counselors and therapists in case formulation and intervention plan development process. Additionally, it may be argued that the Hail region, KSA sampling confirmed the Gottman couples treatment predictors.

Abstract This study aimed to assess the extent of eutrophication in the Marchica lagoon, using the trophic index (TRIX), trophic status index (TSI) and Redfield ratio (N/P). Seawater samples were collected monthly from March 2018 to February 2019 from ten locations in the lagoon. The TRIX index ranged from 1.25 to 8.87, indicating oligotrophic to eutrophic conditions. TSI values ranged from 28.4 to 65.1, indicating ultraoligotrophic to supereutrophic seawater. The Redfield ratio consistently showed N/P values below 16, designating phosphorus as the limiting factor for algal growth. Principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA) revealed distinct coastal water masses based on seasons and sampling regions. Given these findings, urgent conservation and management measures are recommended to address the eutrophication issues threatening the delicate balance of the Marchica lagoon.
