Abstract I study the impact of extreme heat on the incidence of harassment and discrimination using data on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) charges brought forward by US Postal Service (USPS) workers. I analyze more than 800,000 EEO charges filed between FYs 2004 and 2019. I find that heat stress experienced on days when maximum temperatures exceed 90 °F increases EEO incidents by roughly 5% relative to days when temperatures are between 60 °F and 70 °F. The uncovered effect is widespread across the USPS and appears to be driven by changes in the number of incidents rather than in their reporting.

Abstract Abstract: Arsenic compounds are colorless and odorless and toxicity can occur either acutely following ingestion of arsenicals with gastrointestinal disturbances or due to chronic exposure usually presenting with dermatologic lesions and peripheral neuropathy. We report a young couple who presented with signs and symptoms of painful sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy in a typical "stocking and glove" pattern. They had raised urinary arsenic levels with normal blood levels and thus, a diagnosis of chronic arsenic poisoning due to contaminated water intake was made after detecting elevated arsenic levels in their home water supply. Both patients underwent chelation therapy with dimercaprol for 14 days and reported subjective and objective improvement in symptoms with the reduction in urinary arsenic levels at the end of therapy.

Abstract Objective: The objective is to assess knowledge, attitude, and practices towards the COVID-19 pandemic amongst pregnant women and healthcare staff at a periurban teaching hospital in Haryana, India.
Methods:  This was a single centre questionnaire-based cross-sectional analysis regarding COVID-19 which was conducted at a periurban teaching hospital in Haryana, India, amongst 300 participants which included pregnant women and healthcare staff involved in managing them. They were assessed for demographic details and KAP scores (knowledge-14 questions, attitude-9 questions, and practice-14 questions). Analysis of data was done using IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0.
Results: Participants in the present study had an overall adequate mean score of knowledge (22.54 ± 5.22) and were following correct practices (mean score 23.91 ± 6.72) to prevent COVID-19. The overall correlation of knowledge and practice also shows a positive correlation (0.939, p=<0.0001).
Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the majority of the pregnant women and healthcare workers involved in the management of pregnant women had adequate knowledge and a positive attitude towards tackling COVID-19. They were following correct practices and taking necessary steps for the prevention of the disease. They had adequate knowledge regarding vaccination for pregnant females.

Abstract Rashba spin-orbit coupled systems are an important class of materials noted for diverse fundamental and applied phenomena. Recently, the emergence of non-linear Hall effect under conditions of time-reversal symmetry has been discovered in materials with broken inversion symmetry. In this work, we study the second- and third-order Hall response in Rashba systems with hexagonal warping. Starting with a low-energy model, we obtain the analytic expressions and discover the unique dipole profile in Rashba systems with hexagonal warping. Furthermore, we extend the analysis using a realistic tight-binding model. Next, we predict the existence of a third-order Hall effect in these systems, and calculate the Berry connection polarizability tensor analytically. We also show how the model parameters affect the third-order conductivity. Our predictions can help in the experimental realization of Berry curvature multipole physics in Rashba materials with hexagonal warping, and provide a new platform for engineering the non-linear Hall effects.

Abstract A year ago, 17-year-old "Alex" was brought into the emergency department after a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Neither his primary care doctor nor his psychologist were aware of his first attempt 6 months previously. Unfortunately, this attempt was successful. It occurred in front of his home, and in front of his mother who was just seconds too late to stop him. In the aftermath, we wondered why the medical system that he had access to could not intervene in time.

Abstract We report a case of subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL) in a young man presenting with fever and facial swelling. He had pancytopenia and hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS) on evaluation. The histopathological examination of skin punch biopsy from the face and chest wall showed SPTCL. Given the associated HPS, he was started on steroid and multidrug chemotherapy following which he had symptomatic improvement.
