Abstract Background: Fathers need education to understand their role in infant care and its implications regarding the child's health. Virtual education has been able to compensate for the shortcomings of traditional training and education, and with respect to this, the present study was conducted to determine the effect of virtual education on fathers about infant care and their involvement in infant care.
Materials and methods: The quasi-experimental study was performed on 83 participants in healthcare centers affiliated with North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences. The involvement of fathers in infant care was assessed with a questionnaire of the father's involvement in the care of the infant (mother-reported) in 4-time points: 3-5 days, and 2, 4, and 6 months after birth. Educational materials based on the child's growth and needs and as well as the latest references and national guidelines were prepared, and as the infant grew, were taught step by step to fathers using Soroush's messenger while their questions were answered.
Results: The mean score of total father involvement in infant care at two, four, and six months after childbirth was significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group (p < 0.001).
Conclusions: With regard to the lack of access to fathers during their working hours, virtual education can be used to increase their involvement in infant care.

Abstract Objectives: Postpartum services are the most important factor in preventing unwanted maternal and neonatal outcomes. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and the stress associated with the risk of infection, one way to improve midwifery services in the postpartum period and reduce unwanted maternal and neonatal outcomes is the participatory care model. Therefore, we aimed to assess the effect of the participatory care model on quality of life and performance in the postpartum period. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was performed on 200 women in the third trimester of pregnancy living in Bojnourd, Iran in 2020. Health-promoting interventions, including self-care training based on the participatory care model, were performed in four sessions for mothers, spouses, and their supporters. Quality of life and postpartum performance questionnaires were completed two and eight weeks after delivery. Results: Mean quality of life in two weeks after delivery in the intervention and standard care groups were 115.5 and 114.7, respectively, and in the eight weeks after delivery were 121.0 and 116.8, respectively. Mean postpartum performance life in two weeks after delivery in the intervention and standard care groups were 74.7 and 73.6, respectively, and in the eight weeks after were 81.7 and 75.8, respectively. The results of repeated-measure analysis of variance showed that the intervention group had higher quality of life and performance scores than the standard care group (p < 0.001). Conclusions: The participatory care model can effectively improve the quality of life and performance of mothers, and we recommend its use.

Abstract Background: The postpartum period can be considered as one of the most sensitive stages of life in different countries; however, it is inadequate in many developed and developing countries. We aimed to determine the educational needs of mothers in the postpartum period in Bojnourd.
Materials and methods: This study was conducted in Bojnourd 2019 with two parts: a qualitative part using the content analysis method and a quantitative part using the descriptive cross-sectional method. Data were collected 45 interviews with women, spouses, and key informants. All content was recorded and fully transcribed on paper. MaxQda10software was used for the data management. A simultaneous descriptive cross-sectional study was done including 250 pregnant in the third trimester (25.6%), in the first 48 h after delivery (24.4%), in the first 6 months after delivery (24.4%), and in the second 6 months after childbirth (25.6%) who referred to five health centers in Bojnourd to receive midwifery care. Quota sampling was performed for each center according to the population covered, and convenient sampling was done in each center.
Results: In the qualitative study, educational needs were classified into four main categories, including "maintaining and restoring physical health," "sexual health needs," "mental health needs," and "educational barriers." In the quantitative study, according to the findings, the most educational needs among mothers were self-care and breastfeeding and the best time for teaching was during the pregnancy, and the best method was face-to-face training and the best source of information was midwives and gynecologists.
Conclusion: Attention to the educational needs of each region can be done through various training courses and continuous retraining to promote health provider and should be considered in the planning officials.
