Abstract Lithium is an indispensable resource for the next generation of clean technology. Promoting the development of lithium industry has become a global consensus, with China being no exception. The development process involves not only the growth and degeneration of lithium products but also the path-dependency issues arising from resources and technology. This study, based on the perspective of product space structure, constructs China's lithium product network to study its pattern evolution and predict the development direction. Then, according to the current situation and pattern evolution trends, potential advantageous lithium products and advantage-degraded lithium products are identified, and tactics for expanding chains and breaking chains are formulated for them, presenting strategies for the integrated and fragmentated development of China's lithium products. This aims to steer China's lithium products towards a more orderly and closely interconnected direction, representing the arrow of development for China's lithium products.

Abstract Background/purpose: As esthetic demands with direct restorations, tooth-colored materials were used to replace amalgam filling gradually. However, little is known about the tooth-colored restorative materials for decayed teeth in Taiwan. In this study, the use of composite resin, glass ionomer cement, and compomer was analyzed by National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD).
Materials and methods: A retrospective study was conducted to analyze the registered database compiled by Taiwanese NHIRD from 1997 to 2013. The results were further to analyze the application of tooth-colored restorative materials by sex and age. In addition, time trends of dental visits for each tooth-colored restorative material were also investigated.
Results: The average annual composite resin filling (CRF) ratio was 18.41% of nationwide population in Taiwan. The prevalence of CRF stratified by sex and age was significantly increased from 1997 to 2013 (
Conclusion: Form the results of this registry-based study, a significant increased trend of CRF for decayed teeth was observed in Taiwanese population during past 17 years.

Abstract The "double-carbon" policy is a new opportunity for the transformation of China's production sector. With steady economic growth, each province has proposed specific policies aimed at cleaner production. However, the interactions between regions and the complex linkages between industries have hindered the implementation of the "double-carbon" policy. In order to address this issue, we introduced a complex network framework with multiple industries at a national level. The framework aimed to clarify whether there is fluctuation diffusion in China's multi-province multi-industry carbon emission system, to identify key industries and regions, and to answer the question of "who" is the most effective in governance. The results showed that the fluctuations of industrial carbon emissions had a cross-regional diffusion effect in China indeed. The diffusion capacity of industry fluctuation depends on whether the industry is located at a "hub" position in the network. Hub industries with strong capacity can spread the carbon emission fluctuation of themselves and upstream or downstream industries to the whole country through regional interactions. This characteristic of the hub industry should be taken into account in governance to maximize the effectiveness of emission reduction. Shandong and Inner Mongolia, as important provinces for the production of intermediate products and energy chemicals in China, had a greater role to play in global carbon supply push from their hub industries than in the demand pull. The pulling capacity of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to the national carbon demand side was greater than that of Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. These findings might have implications for environmental and economic policymaking, particularly with regard to cross-provincial coordinated systemic solutions and policy anchors for synergy with industries.

Abstract Iron is a crucial resource for societal and economic progress. How can the China's iron industry, having grown in size and gained an export advantage, seek partners in the industry chain to develop better growth potential? We propose "relational upgrading" across multi-hierarchy. Using a Three-Stage Least Squares approach, we analyze the impact of three key network centralities of iron products on industrial upgrading, based on 1995–2020 HS-4 coded product export data. Results show: China's iron product network is multi-hierarchy. Relational upgrading transcends export advantage enhancement and reflects jumps to higher at multi-hierarchy. Policymakers can evaluate industry competitiveness by monitoring the iron product network's hierarchy of upgrades. Degree and betweenness centrality have a significant "inverted-U" effect on the iron industry's upgrading, while closeness has a hindering effect. Upgrading relationships across multi-hierarchy consolidates the network centrality status of iron products. Some policies for sustainable development as indicated by the results are given.

Abstract High incidences of morbidity and mortality associated with age-related diseases among the elderly population are a socio-economic challenge. Aging is an irreversible and inevitable process that is a risk factor for pathological progression of diverse age-related diseases. Spermidine, a natural polyamine, plays a critical role in molecular and cellular interactions involved in various physiological and functional processes. Spermidine has been shown to modulate aging, suppress the occurrence and severity of age-related diseases, and prolong lifespan. However, the precise mechanisms through which spermidine exerts its anti-aging effects have not been established. In this review, we elucidate on the mechanisms and roles underlying the beneficial effects of spermidine in aging from a molecular and cellular perspective. Moreover, we provide new insights into the promising potential diagnostic and therapeutic applications of spermidine in aging and age-related diseases.

Abstract Background/purpose: The teaching practice research program was initiated by Taiwan's Ministry of Education in 2018 to improve medical teaching quality. This study analyzed dental teaching projects conducted under this program from 2018 to 2023.
Materials and methods: Data of submitted and approved medical (including dental) teaching projects from 2018 to 2023 were obtained from the annual reports released by the program committee. The annual passing rates were calculated by dividing the number of approved dental teaching projects by the total number of approved medical teaching projects in the category of medical and healthcare sciences in a particular year. The 24 approved dental teaching projects were reviewed, classified into different topics in the dental field, and then reported.
Results: There were 24 approved dental teaching projects out of a total of 822 approved medical teaching projects from 2018 to 2023. The annual passing rates increased gradually from 2018 (1.4 %) to 2022 (3.9 %) and 2023 (3.8 %) with an overall mean passing rate of 2.9 % over a period of 6 years. Of the 24 approved dental teaching projects, digital dentistry was the most common teaching research topic (9 projects), followed by new teaching models (7 projects), 3D technology (3 projects), endodontics (3 projects), dental histology (one project), and evidence-based method (one project).
Conclusion: Digital dentistry and new teaching models were the two predominant dental teaching research topics, suggesting that both are the modern trends in the dental education. However, the dental teaching research projects are still very limited in 8 Taiwanese dental schools.

Abstract An understanding of the functional role played by a membrane-associated intrinsically disordered protein (IDP) requires characterization of its heterogeneous conformations as well as its poses relative to the membranes, which is of great interest but technically challenging. Here, we explore the membrane paramagnetic relaxation enhancement (mPRE) for constructing ensembles of IDPs that dynamically associate with membrane mimetics incorporating spin-labeled lipids. To accurately interpret the mPRE Γ
