Abstract Purpose: This study investigated the scope of patient navigation studies on women's health care for maternal health and noncancerous gynecologic conditions and aimed to report the characteristics of the identified patient navigation programs.
Methods: A scoping review was conducted following Arksey and O'Malley's framework. Five electronic databases were searched for relevant studies published in English: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and PsycInfo. There were no restrictions on the publication date and the search was completed in July 2023.
Results: This scoping review included 14 studies, which collectively examined seven patient navigation programs. All selected studies were related to maternal health issues (e.g., perinatal health problems and contraception for birth spacing). Close to two-thirds of the patient navigation services were provided by women (n=9, 64.3%) and half by lay navigators (n=7, 50.0%). The majority incorporated the use of mobile health technologies (n=11, 78.6%). All of the patient navigation programs included in the review coordinated the necessary clinical and social support services to improve women's access to care.
Conclusion: Patient navigation appears to be in its nascent phase in the field of maternal health. The results of this study suggest that the implementation of patient navigation services could potentially improve access to care for socially disadvantaged women and families. Furthermore, providing patient navigation services that are specifically tailored to meet women's needs could improve the quality of maternity care.

Abstract Naïve yet threatening is how the South Korean news media have characterized some older adults who have taken to social media to air their political views. Labeled as "angry (digital) silver," these older adults using YouTube and other social media platforms for political activity are portrayed as digitally illiterate and aggressive. This paper examines the rhetoric surrounding older adults' digital media literacy in scholarship and popular news media with a focus on the news media's portrayal of older adults' digital political activity. By analyzing the use of language and various rhetorical strategies, I argue that specific rhetoric of caution, which warns against older adults' so-called lower digital media literacy, is used to invalidate their digital political activity. I draw upon the case of the "Taegukgi squad"-a political group mainly composed of older adults in South Korea-and the evolution of their digital presence. Addressing the media's biased portrayal of older adults' digital media literacy, this paper further invites reflection on controversies around the role of age in digital political activities around the globe.

Abstract Despite the growing importance of the multidimensional methods of assessing child poverty, few studies in the U.S. have applied a rights-based approach to examining child deprivation. This study examines multidimensional child deprivation using eight dimensions and twelve indicators based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Using a sample of children at age nine from the fifth wave of the Future of Families and Child Well-being Study, this study applied the multiple overlapping deprivation analysis (MODA), a comprehensive analytic method to assess the multidimensionality of child deprivation and to provide a detailed picture of material and social forms of deprivation among the U.S. children. This study found that the overall child deprivation rate was 8.89%; environmental safety (20.36%), information (15.94%), and housing security (14.23%) dimensions contributed the highest to the overall child deprivation; the overlap between deprivation and income poverty was 12.83%. Results suggest that understanding multifaceted and interrelated contexts of child deprivation is crucial to promote child rights.

Abstract Objective: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is one of the most abundant post-transcriptional modifications in eukaryotic RNA. As m6A modifications play an important role in RNA processing, abnormal m6A regulation caused by aberrant expression of m6A regulators is closely related to carcinogenesis. In this study, we aimed to determine the role of METTL3 expression in carcinogenesis, regulation of splicing factor expression by METTL3, and their effects in survival period and cancer-related metabolisms.
Materials and methods: We investigated the correlation between each splicing factor and METTL3 in breast invasive ductal carcinoma (BRCA), colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and gastric adenocarcinoma (STAD). Survival analysis was performed based on the expression of each splicing factor. To determine the molecular mechanism of SRSF11 in carcinogenesis, gene set enrichment analysis using RNA sequencing data was performed according to SRSF11 expression.
Results: Among the 64 splicing factors used for correlation analysis, 13 splicing factors showed a positive correlation with METTL3 in all four cancer types. We found that when METTL3 expression was decreased, the expression of SRSF11 was also decreased in all four types of cancer tissue when compared to that in normal tissue. Decreased SRSF11 expression was associated with poor survival in patients with BRCA, COAD, LUAD, and STAD. Gene set enrichment analysis according to SRSF11 expression showed that the p53/apoptosis, inflammation/immune response, and ultraviolet/reactive oxygen species stimulus-response pathways were enriched in cancers with decreased SRSF11 expression.
Conclusions: These results suggest that METTL3 regulates SRSF11 expression, which could influence mRNA splicing in m6A modified cancer cells. METTL3-mediated downregulation of SRSF11 expression in cancer patients correlates with poor prognosis.

Abstract This paper proposes a pattern-based stock trading system using ANN-based deep learning and utilizing the results to analyze and forecast highly volatile stock price patterns. Three highly volatile price patterns containing at least a record of the price hitting the daily ceiling in the recent trading days are defined. The implications of each pattern are briefly analyzed using chart examples. The training of the neural network was conducted with stock data filtered in three patterns and trading signals were generated using the prediction results of those neural networks. Using data from the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets, It was found that that the proposed pattern-based trading system can achieve better trading performances than domestic and overseas stock indices. The significance of this study is the development of a stock price prediction model that exceeds the market index to help overcome the continued freezing of interest rates in Korea. Also, the results of this study can help investors who fail to invest in stocks due to the information gap.

Abstract Purpose of review: The diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) can be made based on clinical symptoms and signs alone or a combination of clinical and paraclinical features. Diagnostic criteria for MS have evolved over time, and the latest version facilitates earlier diagnosis of MS in those presenting with typical clinical syndromes. This article summarizes the current diagnostic criteria for MS, typical and atypical presentations of MS, and when diagnostic criteria should be applied with caution.
Recent findings: The most recent version of the MS diagnostic criteria has the benefits of simplicity and greater sensitivity in comparison to previous iterations. However, misdiagnosis remains a significant issue in MS clinical care, even at MS specialty centers. It is, therefore, evident that careful clinical application of the current version of the diagnostic criteria is necessary and that tools improving the diagnostic accuracy of MS would be of substantial clinical utility. Emerging diagnostic biomarkers that may be useful in this regard, including the central vein sign, paramagnetic rim lesions, and fluid biomarkers, are discussed.
Summary: Current MS diagnostic criteria facilitate the early diagnosis of MS in people presenting with typical clinical syndromes but should be used cautiously in those presenting with atypical syndromes and in special populations. Clinical judgment and existing paraclinical tools, including sequential MRIs of the neuraxis and laboratory tests, are useful in minimizing misdiagnosis and facilitating the accurate diagnosis of MS. Diagnostic biomarkers that may facilitate or refute a diagnosis of MS in these settings, and emerging imaging and fluid biomarkers may eventually become available for use in clinical settings.

Abstract Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with chronic diseases is an important tool to measure patient-reported health outcomes and evaluate the usefulness of treatment, management, and rehabilitation programs. Patients with chronic diseases are more likely than those without to experience psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress, all of which can affect HRQoL. This study evaluated the impact of psychological problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress on HRQoL in people with and without chronic diseases in South Korea. The study's descriptive survey included 501 participants (191 with and 310 without chronic diseases). Data were collected using structured questionnaires between April and May 2021. The general characteristics, DASS-21, and HRQOL of this study were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Differences in DASS-21 and HRQoL based on general characteristics were analyzed using t tests and ANOVA. The study analyzed the factors influencing the participants' HRQoL using stepwise multiple regression analysis with SPSS Win 27.0. HRQoL was generally lower for patients with chronic diseases than for patients without. In patients with chronic diseases, the major variables affecting HRQoL were depression (β = -0.244, t = -3.582, P < .001), exercise (β = 0.201, t = 2.927, P = .004), and economic status (β = -0.150, t = -2.184, P = .030), of which depression was the most influential. These variables explained 12.5% of the variance in the regression model for total HRQoL. These results emphasize the need to explore intervention measures that can reduce depression in patients with chronic diseases and anxiety in patients without chronic diseases to improve their HRQoL. In addition, national efforts are needed to provide economic support, as economic status is an influential factor in HRQoL regardless of the presence of chronic disease. The study's limitations include the fact that neither did it consider disease severity among chronically ill patients nor did it examine all the variables affecting HRQoL.
