Abstract Purpose: This study aimed to reflect on the challenges of Health Information Systems in Portugal at a time when technologies enable the creation of new approaches and models for care provision, as well as to identify scenarios that may characterize this practice in the future.
Design/methodology/approach: A guiding research model was created based on an empirical study that was conducted using a qualitative method that integrated content analysis of strategic documents and semi-structured interviews with a sample of fourteen key actors in the health sector.
Findings: Results pointed to the existence of emerging technologies that may promote the development of Health Information Systems oriented to "health and well-being" in a preventive model logic and reinforce the social and management implications.
Originality/value: The originality of this work resided in the empirical study carried out, which allowed us to analyze how the various actors look at the present and the future of Health Information Systems. There is also a lack of studies addressing this subject.
Research limitations/implications: The main limitations resulted from a low, although representative, number of interviews and the fact that the interviews took place before the pandemic, so the digital transformation that was promoted was not reflected. Managerial implications and social implications: The study highlighted the need for greater commitment from decision makers, managers, healthcare providers, and citizens toward achieving improved digital literacy and health. Decision makers and managers must also agree on strategies to accelerate existing strategic plans and avoid their implementation at different paces.

Abstract This volume offers a Portuguese translation of the Epitome of the comparison between Aristophanes and Menander, by Plutarch. Beside some footnotes, there is an introduction including reflections about the three authors involved: the two comediographers and Plutarch himself in his analysis of comic poetry. In general, this text represents an exercise of critical reception, from Antiquity, of Greek comedy main authors, in its two specific moments, Archaia and Nea

Abstract Objective: Despite the high prevalence of perinatal loss and its potential for negative impact on mental health, specific risk and resilience factors contributing to adjustment following perinatal loss have not been fully explored. This study investigated the relationship between attachment security, dyadic coping, and posttraumatic growth (PTG).
Method: Women who had experienced miscarriage or stillbirth (
Results: Attachment security was related to couples' relational functioning. Dyadic coping mediated the relationship between attachment anxiety, attachment avoidance and PTG.
Conclusion: This study contributes to the literature by providing evidence that relational security and ability to utilize a partner to reduce distress following perinatal loss is an important factor contributing to positive psychological change. Abstract Objective: This randomized crossover trial evaluated periodontal indexes of two types of 3 x 3 retainers (a modified 0.032-in SS V-loop retainer and a conventional 0.0215-in SS coaxial wire retainer) after bonded for six months. Also, bonded failure rate, and a questionnaire about comfort, ease of cleaning and overall preference were recorded.
Material and methods: 15 patients were enrolled in this study who used both retainers for six months each, having a 15-day wash-out interval between each bonded retainer usage. The following periodontal index were recorded: Plaque Index (PI), Calculus Index (CI) and Gingival Index (GI). Patients answered a questionnaire to assess comfort, ease of cleaning and overall retainer-type preference. Rate of bonding failure was also evaluated.
Results: V-Loop retainer showed higher PI (P<0.05) as compared to conventional 0.0215-in coaxial wire retainer. However, CI and GI presented no statistically significant differences between both types of retainers. The conventional 0.0215-in coaxial wire retainer was chosen as the most comfortable (p<0.05), although no statistically significant differences were found for all other questionnaire answers. Bonding failure events were more observed in the 3x3 V-Loop retainer (p<0.002), as compared to the conventional 0.0215-in coaxial retainer.
Conclusion: V-Loop retainer showed higher PI (p<0.05), higher bonding failure rate and less comfortable, as compared to conventional 0.0215-in coaxial wire.

Abstract Our objective was to evaluate the accuracy of predictive models for metritis spontaneous cure (SC) and cure among ceftiofur-treated cows using farm collected data only, and with the addition of hemogram variables and circulating concentration of metabolites, minerals, and biomarkers of inflammation measured at time of diagnosis. Data related to parity, calving related issues, body condition score (BCS), rectal temperature (RT), and days in milk (DIM) at metritis diagnosis were collected from a randomized clinical trial that included 412 metritic cows from 4 herds in TX, CA, and FL. Metritis was defined as the presence of red-brownish, watery, and fetid vaginal discharge, while cure was defined as the absence of metritis 14 d after initial diagnosis. Cows were randomly allocated to receive systemic ceftiofur therapy (2 subcutaneous doses of 6.6 mg/kg of ceftiofur crystalline-free acid on the day of diagnosis and 3 d later; CEF) or to remain untreated (CON). At enrollment (day of metritis diagnosis), blood samples were collected and submitted to cell blood count (CBC) and processed for the measurement of 13 minerals and biomarkers of metabolism and inflammation (BM). Univariable analysis to evaluate the association of farm collected data and blood assessed variables with metritis cure were performed, and variables with P ≤ 0.20 were offered to multivariable logistic regression models and retained if P ≤ 0.15. The area under the curve (AUC) for models predicting SC using farm data only and farm + BM, was 0.70 and 0.76 respectively. Cell blood count variables were not retained in the models for SC. For models predicting cure among CEF cows, the AUC was 0.75, 0.77, 0.80, and 0.80 for models using farm data only, farm + CBC, farm + BM, and farm + CBC + BM, respectively. Predictive models of metritis cure had fair accuracy, with SC models being less accurate than models predictive of cure among CEF cows. Additionally, adding BM variables marginally improved the accuracy of models using farm collected data, while CBC data did not improve the accuracy of predictive models.
