    Abstract An environmental evaluation was conducted to determine lead exposure in a group of crafts people who produce stained glass and Tiffany glass. The environmental evaluation consisted of air sampling for potential lead emissions from solder and of work area dusts. In addition, the completion of a questionnaire, observation of work practices and noting of other details relevant to hazardous exposures were carried out. Lead concentrations in air were found to be well below the ACGIH TLV-TWA of 150 micrograms/m3. High lead concentrations were found in the work area dust samples. Exposure to high concentrations of lead could occur by ingestion as a result of neglect of basic hygiene precautions.

    Abstract: Es wurden die Bleikonzentrationen in der Atemluft und in der Raumluft in 13 Studios in Kanada gemessen, in welchen Buntglas oder Tiffany Glas geloetet wird. Ausserdem wurde der Bleigehalt im abgelagerten Staub in den Studios bestimmt. In allen Luftproben ...

    Abstract Es wurden die Bleikonzentrationen in der Atemluft und in der Raumluft in 13 Studios in Kanada gemessen, in welchen Buntglas oder Tiffany Glas geloetet wird. Ausserdem wurde der Bleigehalt im abgelagerten Staub in den Studios bestimmt. In allen Luftproben lagen die Bleikonzentrationen unter den bestehenden Grenzwerten. Sie lagen sogar unter dem niedrigsten Grenzwert von 50 Mikrogramm/m3, der von der Occupational Safety and Health Administration in den USA empfohlen wird. Sehr hohe Bleikonzentrationen wurden im abgelagerten Staub nachgewiesen. Die Moeglichkeit, dass hohe Bleikonzentrationen geschluckt werden, kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Eine Befragung der Handwerker ergab, dass sie von Hygiene wenig wussten.
