Abstract Coalbed methane (CBM) reservoirs are naturally fractured formations with cleats surrounding the coal matrix. Analyzing and predicting CBM production performance is challenging because of the complex fracture networks and gas-water two-phase flow, along with the permeability and porosity variation and time-dependent desorption. During depletion, pressure decreases and consequently stress increases, thereby decreasing cleat aperture and permeability, while the matrix shrinkage effect increases cleat width and permeability. The two effects compete with one another, and dominance depends on coal's geomechanical properties and the change in reservoir properties. In addition, though the gas composition from CBM wells predominantly consists of methane, it contains traces of other gases like ethane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, etc. The combined effects of pressure-dependent diffusivity, time-dependent desorption, and multicomponent sorption in a two-phase flowing CBM well make the flow dynamics in CBM reservoirs complex. A modified semi-analytical mathematical model is developed to characterize the time-dependent desorption and pressure-dependent diffusivity phenomena, also considering the dynamic variation of composition and multicomponent desorption for two-phase flow of CBM wells producing under semi-steady state conditions. The novelty of the model presented in this study lies in manifesting multicomponent sorption effects in the form of an equivalent single-component sorption phenomenon by establishing new transforms. A fully coupled mathematical model is developed that integrates multicomponent sorption effects in CBM reservoirs with pressure-dependent diffusivity and time-dependent desorption effects. The Article presents a new method to intertwine the desorption material balance of individual components with fully coupled flow equations and gives a workflow to predict and evaluate the production performance of a producing CBM well. The study reveals that a multicomponent, two-phase coalbed methane system can be represented in the form of an equivalent single-component single-phase system, thus paving the way for application of CBM flow equations valid for a single phase and single component. The results of the model have been verified using a CMG-GEM numerical simulator as well as in-field production data. This study brings out a novel computational approach for the compositional simulation of the CBM wells, which is unconditionally stable and involves less complexity than commercial simulators, without compromising the accuracy of the results. The findings of this study can help improve the understanding of the complex flow behavior of CBM reservoirs, where multiple phenomena occur simultaneously, like multicomponent sorption, two-phase flow, pressure-dependent diffusion, and time-dependent desorption.

Abstract In this study, a self-powered broadband photodetector based on graphene/NiO/n-Si was fabricated by the direct spin-coating of nanostructured NiO on the Si substrate. The current-voltage measurement of the NiO/Si heterostructure exhibited rectifying characteristics with enhanced photocurrent under light illumination. Photodetection capability was measured in the range from 300 nm to 800 nm, and a higher photoresponse in the UV region was observed due to the wide bandgap of NiO. The presence of a top graphene transparent conducting electrode further enhanced the responsivity in the whole measured wavelength region from 350 to 800 nm. The photoresponse of the NiO/Si detector at 350 nm was found to increase from 0.0187 to 0.163 A/W at -1 V with the insertion of the graphene top layer. A high photo-to-dark current ratio (≃10

Abstract Materials and processing of transparent electrodes (TEs) are key factors to creating high-performance translucent perovskite solar cells. To date, sputtered indium tin oxide (ITO) has been a general option for a rear TE of translucent solar cells. However, it requires a rather high cost due to vacuum process and also typically causes plasma damage to the underlying layer. Therefore, we introduced TE based on ITO nanoparticles (ITO-NPs) by solution processing in ambient air without any heat treatment. As it reveals insufficient conductivity, Ag nanowires (Ag-NWs) are additionally coated. The ITO-NPs/Ag-NW (0D/1D) bilayer TE exhibits a better figure of merit than sputtered ITO. Abstract Floods in urban areas result in a detrimental impact on the natural environment and human health and pose major risks to assets and communication systems. In cities with high population density, the magnitude of flood damage largely depends upon flood inundation as well as floodwater depths. The present study compared recent flood inundation extent, damages caused, and possible floodwater depth in two highly developed metropolises of China and Japan, i.e., Wuhan and Kumamoto cities, for the year 2020. Sentinel-1 satellite data-driven change detection algorithm in Google Earth Engine (GEE) was applied to identify potentially flooded regions. Major land use land cover classes such as urban areas and croplands affected by the flood were mapped in conjunction with the exposed population. ALOS PALSAR digital elevation model (DEM) was used to study the inundation depth. The study revealed that 322 km

Abstract Purpose: Scrub typhus, is a mite-borne disease caused by bacteria named Orientia tsutsugamushi. In recent years the incidence of scrub typhus is increasing day by day. The disease is easily missed because of low sensitization among clinicians and non-specific clinical manifestation. The disease can be fatal in untreated cases. With the availability of testing methods, it can be easily diagnosed and treated. This study aims to depict the epidemiology of scrub typhus in southern Odisha.
Methods: A total of 170 blood samples were collected from clinically suspected acute undifferentiated febrile illness (AUFI) cases. Samples were tested serologically for antibodies against Orientia tsutsugamushi by commercially available Immunochromatography test (ICT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit as per the manufacturer's instruction. Molecular diagnosis was done by nested polymerase chain reaction (N-PCR) and Sanger sequencing was done to know the circulating strains.
Results: Out of 170 cases of AUFI, 74 cases were diagnosed scrub typhus by IgM ELISA and 67 were positive by ICT. Males were affected more and cases were more clustered in the Ganjam district. The disease followed a typical seasonal i.e. more cases were seen in cooler months of the year. Sequencing revealed the strains were Gilliam and Karp like.
Conclusions: The burden of scrub typhus was 43.5% among the study population. Determining the serotypes in endemic areas is important for basic research on the classification of Orientia tsutsugamushi, the development of vaccines, and the definitive diagnosis of scrub typhus. Expanding the panel of antigens used to test scrub typhus and to take into account of local antigenic diversity would improve the sensitivity of serological diagnosis.

Abstract Nearly one third of the population diagnosed with major depressive disorder (MDD) fail to respond to two or more antidepressant drugs of adequate dose and duration. This necessitates identification of confounding psychological and physiological factors that could contribute to treatment resistant depression (TRD). The present longitudinal study investigated the influence of behavioural inhibition system (BIS) and behavioural approach system (BAS) in treatment resistance. Further, the association of depression severity with physiological factors contributing to arterial stiffness was also investigated. Baseline data was acquired from 101 middle-aged (36-56 years) patients on immediate diagnosis with MDD using DSM-V criteria. Follow ups were conducted at 06 months and 12 months during treatment. Psychological assessment battery at baseline and follow ups comprised of Hamilton depression rating (HAM-D) for depression severity, WHODAS-2 and BIS-BAS score. Atherosclerosis and central arterial stiffness were measured by intima-media thickness of internal carotid artery and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity. Physiological factors influencing central vascular function viz., body-mass index, estimated glomerular filtration rate, HbA1c, central systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate and tetrahydrobiopterin were also investigated. Our results show lower reward responsiveness (BAS-RR) and higher BIS scores in TRD patients along with differentially higher intima-media thickness of left internal carotid artery. Higher depression severity at all stages of the study was correlated with lower tetrahydrobiopterin and BAS-RR scores. We, therefore, suggest that vascular depression resulting due to increased intima-media thickness of left carotid artery and lower tetrahydrobiopterin could be contributing factors for treatment resistance in middle-aged MDD patients.

Abstract Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have demonstrated remarkable photovoltaic performance, positioning themselves as promising devices in the field. Theoretical calculations suggest that copper (Cu) can serve as an effective dopant, potentially occupying interstitial sites in the perovskite structure, thereby reducing the energy barrier and enhancing carrier extraction. Subsequent experimental investigations confirm that adding CuI as an additive to MAPbI

Abstract This article proves that social protection is an effective tool for reducing poverty, contributing to the integration of economic and social aspects of sustainable development. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the current state of the social protection system in the Republic of Kazakhstan and to develop measures to improve the level of social security and mechanisms for financing social protection. The results obtained during the study allow concluding that over the years of independent development in the Republic of Kazakhstan, a national model of social protection has been created, a number of important social programmes have been adopted aimed at reducing the level of poverty among the population. The social protection system is a key element of national governance. They embody the social values of any society. The social protection system has three main purposes: to guarantee all members of society access to basic goods and services, to promote active social and economic security, and to develop the individual and social potential for poverty reduction and sustainable development of society. Social protection supports people in handling risks and reducing inequality and also allows them to fulfil their full potential for personal growth and meaningful contribution to society throughout their lives.
