Abstract A multidrug-resistant dermatophyte species recently arose in India, first described as terbinafine-resistant Trichophyton interdigitale and soon given a separate name: T. indotineae. Thanks to its treatment recalcitrance, person-to-person spread, and frequent travel, before long it was identified in many countries on all continents. We describe here the case of a boy with widespread, extremely pruritic, inflammatory dermatophytosis affecting his face, neck, trunk, and extremities, unsuccessfully treated for months with oral terbinafine and fluconazole and a range of topical antimycotics. Qualitative polymerase chain reaction of skin scrapings from his lesions identified a T. interdigitale complex fungus, highly probably T. indotineae due to conspecificity and antifungal resistance. Oral itraconazole, administered over 8 weeks, cleared the infection. Because the patient had not traveled outside the United Arab Emirates for months before the infection became obvious, it must have been acquired from a local source.

Abstract This paper contrasts the data related to the death of sovereign Strez from available sources with the conclusions obtained by historians based on those data. The analysis itself shows that there are opposing interpretations and presentations of Strez's death in the available sources and historiography. The scientific view is predominantly based on the belief that sovereign Strez was assassinated by the current of his people in favour of the reconciliation with the Serbian Grand Prince Stefan Nemanja. However, this claim is directly opposed to the details stated in the sources. Although this paper doesn't present some final conclusion about Strez's death, it shows an example of a clash between two different conceptions of viewing history by means of using a historical event.

Abstract Background/Aim. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common cause of vaginal discomfort in women. The aim of this study was to compare Nugent’s scoring system and novel microscopy method, introduced in our laboratory and used in BV diagnosis. Methods. This study included 705 pregnant and asymptomatic women between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy. The degree of agreement between methods was determined by the kappa (κ) index. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of the novel microscopy method was compared to Nugent’s score as standard. Results. Based on the scoring system of both methods, Nugent’s and novel microscopy method, BV was diagnosed in 21% and 25% of women, respectively. Despite the disparities among diagnostic criteria, which mainly concerned classification of intermediary samples, the degree of agreement between categories, determined by κ index, was satisfactory: Nugent’s vs. novel microscopy method (κ = 0.68; good agreement), and Nugent’s vs. novel microscopy method without intermediary results (κ = 0.83; very good agreement). We also demonstrated that compared to Nugent’s method, as the golden standard, the novel microscopy method had high sensitivity and specificity (ranging from 75%–99.3%) and positive and negative predictive values (ranging from 88.8%–99.5%). Our method is based on a relative number of bacterial morphotypes, either rod forms (˃ 1.5 μm, lactobacilli) or non-rod forms (< 1.5 μm, bacterial vaginosis associated bacteria) under 200× magnification, which extends the surface of examined preparation, but without prolongation of observer’s working time. Conclusion. The novel microscopy method in diagnosing BV corresponded well with Nugent’s scoring system which allows it to be an alternative method in diagnosing BV. Further-more, the novel microscopy method is based on a relative number of bacterial morphotypes that appeared to be flexible and can be reorganized in the way to categorize findings into only two groups: normal and BV, which makes it comparable to ...

Abstract Cash flows are one of the main indicators of liquidity and solvency of the company. In practice, the Statement of cash flows is very often done as "following document" to Balance sheet and Income statement. This is wrong. The statement of cash flows can give the information to its users about the ability of the company to make cash. The balance sheet and Income statement, due to their accrual basis, are not saying anything about the cash flows of the accounting period, and that is why the Statement of cash flows is very important. A good analysis of this statement can be the basis and support to the process of decision making both for internal and external users of financial information. In this paper we are presenting the methodology of the Statement of cash flows report analysis. The subject of this paper is the analysis of the Cash Flow Statement. The aim of this paper is to point out the importance of reporting on cash flows and its information capabilities to users of accounting information.

Title translation Drug Treatment of Chronic Venous Diesease.
Abstract Chronic venous disease (CVD) affects at least 15-25 % of the general population incurring not only high morbidity but also considerable economical burden. The mainstay of modern treatment of CVD are endovenous therapeutic procedures and compression therapy. As far as the pathogenesis of CVD is being gradually unraveled the interest in drugs able to impact the process is growing. Here we have presented an overview of a majority of oral preparations used so far to treat CVD including venous leg ulcers. After several decades of clinical use a few flavonoid preparations, in the first place micronized purified flavonoid fraction, collected enough evidence to recommend them as a short-term adjunct treatment of CVD. However, other compounds are also promising in this regards. Yet, we need more larger and longer-term clinical trials to more precisely define effects, cost-effectiveness and, above all, capacity for prophylactic application of the drugs. Learning more about basis of CVD will help design new drugs directed at specific aspects of the disease process.

Abstract The subject of this paper is profitability analysis of apple production in the Republic of Serbia. The financial profitability analysis was performed in companies operating in the territory of Vojvodina, Central and Eastern Serbia. This analysis was performed through the calculation of liquidity and profitability ratios. In the Republic of Serbia, 26658 hectares have apple orchards, which indicates that the cultivation of this fruit is highly represented. The aim of this paper is to determine whether apple production is a profitable activity in the Republic of Serbia, selecting three companies based on the analysis of profitability ratios.
