Abstract The application of building information modeling technology on a smart site can take advantage of the coordination, visualization, and simulation capabilities of this technology, allowing the engineering design and construction of the site to be based on a BIM model. In the construction of any engineering project, an accurate BIM model can be created using engineering information and data gathered at an early stage. Even though the “smart site” management system and BIM technology have some positive effect on safety production management, there is still room for improvement. This paper introduces the characteristics of safety and security management through the analysis of BIM big data and then selects evaluation indices. Using administrator experience and fuzzy inference tools, inference rules are then established and inference models are designed. Lastly, example validation and comparative analysis verify the method’s rationality and efficacy, providing a basis for the administrator’s deployment decision for the safety production command. Experiments show that the method proposed in this paper can be better applied to site safety management.

Abstract Abstract Although the investigation of instructional leadership and teacher professional learning is well-documented in the literature, one overlooked question concerns the linear and nonlinear relationships between these two variables. This study aims to examine the linear and nonlinear relationships of principal instructional leadership on teacher professional learning through teacher self-efficacy as a mediator. This study has collected 335 teacher samples encompassing both primary and secondary school levels in Penang, Malaysia. The analysis of data utilised partial least-squares structural equation modelling. The findings indicated a significant positive linear relationship between instructional leadership and teacher-professional learning. Likewise, there exists a significant mediating effect of teacher self-efficacy between instructional leadership on teacher professional learning. There exists a significant nonlinear relationship between principal instructional leadership on teacher self-efficacy and teacher professional learning respectively. The structural model exhibits a significantly high level of predictive power for in-sample and out-of-sample. This study offers theoretical and methodological advancements in comprehending the complex relationships between instructional leadership and teacher outcomes. It proposes that forthcoming studies could adopt a combination of linear and non-linear relationships to achieve robust empirical findings.

Abstract We propose the holographic reciprocity effect (HRE) to describe the relationship between the exposure duration (ED) and the growth rate of diffraction efficiency (GRoDE) in volume holographic storage. The HRE process is investigated experimentally and theoretically in order to avoid the diffraction attenuation. Herein, introducing the medium absorption, we present a comprehensive probabilistic model to describe the HRE. PQ/PMMA polymers are fabricated and investigated to reveal the influence of HRE on the diffraction characteristics through two recording approaches: pulsed exposure with nanosecond (ns) level and continuous wave (CW) exposure at the millisecond (ms) level. We obtain the holographic reciprocity matching (HRM) range of ED in PQ/PMMA polymers with 10 −6 ~10 2 s level and improve the response time to microsecond (μs) order with no diffraction deficiency. This work can promote the application of volume holographic storage in high-speed transient information accessing technology.

Abstract This paper conducts a systematic statistical analysis of the characteristics of the geographical empirical distributions for the numbers of both cumulative and daily confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths at county, city, and state levels over a time span from January 2020 to June 2022. The mathematical heavy-tailed distributions can be used for fitting the empirical distributions observed in different temporal stages and geographical scales. The estimations of the shape parameter of the tail distributions using the Generalized Pareto Distribution also support the observations of the heavy-tailed distributions. According to the characteristics of the heavy-tailed distributions, the evolution course of the geographical empirical distributions can be divided into three distinct phases, namely the power-law phase, the lognormal phase I, and the lognormal phase II. These three phases could serve as an indicator of the severity degree of the COVID-19 pandemic within an area. The empirical results suggest important intrinsic dynamics of a human infectious virus spread in the human interconnected physical complex network. The findings extend previous empirical studies and could provide more strict constraints for current mathematical and physical modeling studies, such as the SIR model and its variants based on the theory of complex networks.

Abstract This study examines the role of graffiti as a medium in urban spaces, particularly in the context of Macau. Graffiti, seen as a form of artistic expression, has the potential to invigorate and enliven public spaces. Utilizing visual ethnography methods and analyzing cultural policies, the paper aims to examine the presence of graffiti in various neighborhoods within Macau. The concept of nostalgia also serves as a theoretical framework to understand how graffiti can evoke memories and create an emotional connection to the past. By investigating hotspots like Largo do Estaleiro, Rua de S. Tiago da Barra, and the vicinity surrounding Ruins of St. Paul’s through interviews with residents and an examination of distribution patterns, we aim to comprehend how these graffiti sites can establish a link to history and contribute to a shared memory and sense of locality. The findings of this research have important implications for urban planning and cultural policy in Macau, as they highlight the significance of incorporating graffiti as a legitimate form of public art that can contribute to the cultural identity and sense of nostalgia in urban spaces.

Abstract Abstract Digital technology has created new spaces, new realities and new ways of life, which have changed the way people perceive and recognise the world. In particular, the production, dissemination and reception methods of literature and art have been impacted upon significantly. Acknowledging humanities scholars have been engaged in conducting research while theorising and debating what Digital Humanities (DH) is/is not in the past two decades, this study extends current thought on DH by connecting it with the concept of sociological body, particularly thinking bodily interaction in relation to digital technologies in DH practice. The increasingly deepening integration of body and technology allows DH practice to become an event, in which embodied bodily action is situated in the (digital) environment that impacts on knowledge production. Acknowledging contemporary discourse regarding the two waves of DH, the article pays attention to the presence of the body whereby DH practice is bodily inclusive as mediated by digital technology, in which bodily interaction in producing knowledge via technologies reflects haptic experience and cultural constraints upon the sociological body. At the same time, technologies are not an innocent medium but an active contributor, so much so that we claim knowledge produced with the substantial involvement of digital technology is ‘digitised’ knowledge, as our critical interpretation towards a possible DH 3.0 practice that is subject to the core value of the humanities.

Abstract The N application used for the production of forage affects environment stress. The N application rate used for the production of the whole maize ( Zea mays L.) plant (WMP) affects the produced feed and environment. We carried out a 2-year field experiment aiming to measure how N application rates affect WMP forage production, and estimated the impact on the environment. Five N application treatments (0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg N ha −1 ) were included in our study. The results showed that N application improved forage yield, achieving a higher economic and ecological profit. After reaching a certain optimal rate, however, increasing the N rate further no longer increased the yield and quality of WMP forage, but instead greatly increased estimated N losses, thereby reducing ecological profits. The comprehensive benefit of the optimal N rate was ordered: the optimal N rate that maximized agronomic profit > that maximized economic profit > that maximized ecological benefit. The optimal N rate maximizing ecological profit was lower by 21% and 37% than that maximizing economic profit and forage yield, respectively. N application rates with the highest ecological profit (USD 2478 ha −1 in 2017 and USD 2448 ha −1 in 2018) were 248 and 245 kg N ha −1 , respectively, in 2017 and 2018. The optimized N rate that maximized ecological profit maintained the economic profit while reducing N fertilizer input and associated N losses; it also carried a lower economic and ecological cost due to estimated N losses. Ecological criteria, which combine economic profit and economic losses due to their environmental impact, are more efficient than agronomic or economic criteria when used to provide guidance for WMP forage production. Therefore, in WMP forage production, optimizing N application rate by ecological criteria could maintain a high forage yield and economic profit, but greatly reduce input costs and ecological stress, maximizing ecological profit.

Abstract Objective: This article uses the method of network pharmacology to study the related mechanism of Guilu Erxian Gum in the treatment of osteoporosis. Methods: Based on the TCMSP database, ETCM database, chemistry database, and DrugBank database, the potential active ingredients and related targets of Guilu Erxian Gum were obtained. The known therapeutic targets of osteoporosis were obtained from OMIM and Genecards databases, and the STRING database was used. A protein interaction network (PPI) of active ingredientsdisease targets was established, and the topological parameters of the network were analyzed using Cytoscape 3.8.0 software to obtain key active ingredients and their targets. In R4.0.2, the Bioconductor data package was used to analyze the GO biological function and KEGG pathway analysis of key targets, and obtain the effective ingredients and targets of Guilu Erxian Gum for treating osteoporosis. Results: The prediction results show that Guilu Erxian Gum has 87 active ingredients and 2305 targets, and there are 4141 known therapeutic targets for osteoporosis. The two act together to obtain a total of 71 PPI core genes. The GO biological process analysis yielded 95 entries, and the KEGG pathway analysis yielded 115 pathways. Conclusion: The analysis results show that Guilu Erxian Gum may play an anti-osteoporosis effect by regulating inflammatory factors, promoting osteoblast differentiation, inhibiting osteoclast formation, and improving microcirculation. The pathways involved include TNF signaling pathways, IL-17 signaling pathway, NF-κB signaling pathway, HIF-1 signaling pathway, MAPK signaling pathway, PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, etc. This study provides a theoretical basis for further elucidating the pharmacological mechanism of Guilu Erxian Gum in the treatment of osteoporosis.
