Abstract Background: Nausea and vomiting, which cause considerable multifaceted effects, are commonly experience in early pregnancy. Various therapeutic strategies are employed, including both conventional agents and complementary medicine. However, the effectiveness of complementary medicine remains controversial. The objective of this meta-analysis is to evaluate efficacy and safety of acupuncture and moxibustion in pregnant women. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search using electronic databases such as PubMed, Embase, ISI Web, Medline, Cochrane, clinicaltrial.gov, and several Chinese databases. A total of 21 randomized controlled trials were included in this study for quantitative analysis. Forest plots were utilized to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture and moxibustion. Egger's test was employed to assess publication bias. Results: The pooled analysis revealed that the acupuncture/moxibustion group was more effective than control group in alleviating nausea and vomiting in early pregnant women (RR: 0.28; 95%CI: 0.21, 0.37). Similar results were observed when comparing the acupuncture group to traditional herbs (RR: 0.08; 95 % CI: 0.01, 0.60), conventional therapy (RR: 0.15; 95 % CI: 0.04, 0.57), and the blank control group (RR: 0.33; 95 % CI: 0.22, 0.51). Moxibustion also exhibited the ability to alleviate nausea and vomiting compared with the blank control group (RR: 0.21; 95 % CI: 0.08, 0.52). As for safety, there were no significant differences in severe adverse events between the acupuncture group and the control group (RR: 0.77; 95%CI: 0.52, 1.14), the blank control group (RR: 0.61; 95%CI: 0.34, 1.10), the sham acupuncture group (RR: 1.05; 95%CI: 0.63, 1.73), or the conventional therapy group (RR: 0.32; 95%CI: 0.06, 1.55). Conclusion: Acupuncture and moxibustion might be effective for the management of nausea and vomiting in early pregnant women. Moreover, acupuncture might be a relatively safe treatment for pregnancy.

Abstract The pandemic has resulted in a further reduction in travel distance, recreational radius of destinations and other levels of tourism activity, making “local people traveling locally” a new feature. From the perspective of localization of urban residents’ recreation, this paper describes a moderated mediation model based on temporal self-regulation theory. Five representative urban parks in Beijing were selected as study areas, and data collected through a questionnaire were used to discuss the behavioral characteristics of localized recreation and the formation mechanism of sense of place among urban residents in Beijing. The results showed that: (1) connectedness beliefs and temporal valuations positively influenced sense of place, and had a positive indirect effect on sense of place through the mediating role of recreation involvement; (2) recreation benefits positively influenced sense of place; (3) recreation benefits reinforced the direct and mediating role of recreation involvement. Based on these findings, the paper concludes with a discussion of the theoretical value and practical implications, as well as future research directions for park and city management.

Abstract The core of quantum machine learning is to devise quantum models with good trainability and low generalization error bounds than their classical counterparts to ensure better reliability and interpretability. Recent studies confirmed that quantum neural networks (QNNs) have the ability to achieve this goal on specific datasets. In this regard, it is of great importance to understand whether these advantages are still preserved on real-world tasks. Through systematic numerical experiments, we empirically observe that current QNNs fail to provide any benefit over classical learning models. Concretely, our results deliver two key messages. First, QNNs suffer from the severely limited effective model capacity, which incurs poor generalization on real-world datasets. Second, the trainability of QNNs is insensitive to regularization techniques, which sharply contrasts with the classical scenario. These empirical results force us to rethink the role of current QNNs and to design novel protocols for solving real-world problems with quantum advantages.

Abstract Study region: The three pools near the terminal of the main canal of the Middle Route Project for South-to-North Water Transfer in China. Study focus: The conventional Proportional Integral (PI) controller neglects the potential for improved control performance by utilizing a PI controller with adaptable control parameters based on different water level conditions, particularly in large-scale open channels with significant water level variations. To address this limitation, this study proposes a novel hierarchical Proportional Integral (H-PI) control approach. The H-PI approach incorporates a weight coefficient into the control logic of the PI controller, allowing flexible adjustment of control parameters. These parameters are tuned using a hydrodynamic model integrated with a genetic algorithm for optimization. New hydrological insights for the region: The simulation results of the study area manifest the efficacy of the proposed method in substantively diminishing gate control frequencies in contrast to other methods, specifically for gate deadbands of 3 cm and 6 cm, respectively. Moreover, the proposed method exhibits higher sensitivity to significant water level deviation changes. The robustness of the proposed method is evaluated under different disturbance scenarios, confirming its resilience and practical feasibility for implementation in the study area. In summary, the proposed H-PI control approach offers distinct advantages in minimizing water level deviation and gate control frequency. Furthermore, its robustness under different disturbance scenarios further supports its practical utility.

Abstract Abstract Recruiting endogenous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in vivo to bone defect sites shows great promise in cell therapies for bone tissue engineering, which tackles the shortcomings of delivering exogenous stem cells, including limited sources, low retention, stemness loss, and immunogenicity. However, it remains challenging to efficiently recruit stem cells while simultaneously directing cell differentiation in the dynamic microenvironment and promoting neo‐regenerated tissue ingrowth to achieve augmented bone regeneration. Herein, a synthetic macroporous double‐network hydrogel presenting nucleic acid aptamer and nano‐inducer enhances BMSCs recruitment, and osteogenic differentiation is demonstrated. An air‐in‐water template enables the rapid construction of highly interconnective macroporous structures, and the physical self‐assembly of DNA strands and chemical cross‐linking of gelatin chains synergistically generate a resilient double network. The aptamer Apt19S and black phosphorus nanosheets‐specific macroporous hydrogel demonstrate highly efficient endogenous BMSCs recruitment, cell differentiation, and extracellular matrix mineralization. Notably, the enhanced calvarial bone healing with promising matrix mineralization and new bone formation is accompanied by adapting this engineered hydrogel to the bone defects. The findings suggest an appealing material approach overcoming the traditional limitations of cell‐delivery therapy that can inspire the future design of next‐generation hydrogel for enhanced bone tissue regeneration.

Abstract Due to its high mobility and bioavailability, hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] in agricultural soil can be taken up by crops and pose threat to human being. In this study, two soils (Jiangxi red soil and Shandong fluvo-aquic soil) spiked with Cr(VI) and 8 common vegetable varieties were used to conduct the pot experiment. The bioconcentration factor (BCF) values based on the tetraacetic acid extractable Cr (EDTA-Cr) in soils were used to construct the species sensitivity distribution (SSD) curve. Afterwards, the soil Cr threshold was derived based on the critical BCF value and the permissible limit of Cr for vegetables. The results showed that when spiked with 5.6 mg kg−1 of Cr(Ⅵ), the soil EDTA-Cr concentrations were significantly increased compared with the control except Jiangxi red soil planted with carrot and radish, while the Cr concentrations in the edible parts of vegetables in both soils were below the permissible limit (0.5 mg kg−1 FW). However, there are dramatic differences in the accumulation of Cr by different varieties of vegetables. Apparent discrepancy was observed between the two soils for the bioconcentration of Cr by carrot. Among the leafy vegetables, lettuce and oilseed rape are the most and the least sensitive to Cr pollution, respectively. The safety threshold values of EDTA-Cr were 0.70 mg kg−1 for Shandong fluvo-aquic soil and 0.85 mg kg−1 for Jiangxi red soil, respectively. This study provides information on the safety production of vegetable products in Cr(Ⅵ) polluted soils and is helpful to the revision of soil quality standards of Cr.

Abstract In order to implement a quantum circuit on an NISQ device, it must be transformed into a functionally equivalent circuit that satisfies the device's connectivity constraints. However, NISQ devices are inherently noisy, and minimizing the number of SWAP gates added to the circuit is crucial for reducing computation errors. To achieve this, we propose a subgraph isomorphism algorithm based on the timing weight priority of quantum gates, which provides a better initial mapping for a specific two-dimensional quantum architecture. Additionally, we introduce a heuristic swap sequence selection optimization algorithm that uses a distance optimization measurement function to select the ideal sequence and reduce the number of SWAP gates, thereby optimizing the circuit transformation. Our experiments demonstrate that our proposed algorithm is effective for most benchmark quantum circuits, with a maximum optimization rate of up to 43.51% and an average optimization rate of 13.51%, outperforming existing related methods.
